I used Castles to rent my property and cannot recommend them enough. Jake has been absolutely amazing and found a tenant in less than a week of the property being online. This is my first experience of renting out a property and have heard many horror stories of how the whole process can go wrong and be very stressful for a landlord, HOWEVER Jake has been so full on with helping me, explaining every single detail, popping over to help run through things, replying to my messages/phone calls on his days off. He has gone above and beyond to make it stress-free for me, I’ve had a great experience with Jake and Castles and couldn’t thank all those involved enough!

AVOID: UNTRUSTWORTHY + VIOLATE UK LAW

I contacted this agency in November 2024 about a property, which I may or may not have visited. Shortly after, once I had found a suitable property, I clearly told them to remove my details - I explicitly invoked GDPR’s right to erasure and told them to delete my data. They ignored me. This cycle has repeated multiple times. Despite this, they continue sending marketing emails, every few months, right up to May 2026. This is not just spam; it is a clear violation of UK GDPR and PECR. Once a person withdraws consent or requests deletion, the law requires immediate action. They have done neither. Emailing property details, or summaries of new legislation both fall under the same requirement. If they had followed the law they would not longer have my email and would not be able to contact me whenever they felt like it. Do yourself a favour: Use other agencies. Do not trust this agency with your data. They disregard your privacy rights and treat GDPR as optional.

Shining example of estate agents doing the job well. We were buying from them as they pwn Eaton Bray, and Henry very patiently took us to many properties that weren't for us. But throughout, he learned and kept suggesting until finally putting us through the door of the house we fell in love with (thank you Debbie). Many don't realise that much of an agents work is in the after sales, pushing the completion. Castles have a dedicated team in Tring who were absolutely on point. There... done it... I never thought I would ever in my life find myself writing nice things about an estate agent, but these guys are above and beyond.

Dealing with Giblin Properties has been a pleasure from start to finish. Being a retired couple and newcomers to the UK, we had tried several different agents and were having difficulty in securing accommodation. Andrea in Giblin’s letting department first showed empathy and common sense in realising our needs and giving us the opportunity to apply for the flat we viewed. From our first meeting, it was clear that he truly cares about clients and their needs. He was very friendly and took into account all are wants and needs took his time explaining the area and the home its self took alot of stress out of the process. Communication was another strong point. Henery and Reece was always available to answer questions, provide updates, and address any concerns I had throughout the process. Though we have not bought a property through Castles, Matt has been incredibly helpful to us throughout the entire process of searching for a new home. We received weekly calls to see how we were getting along, all the time without pushing properties on us. When we had some issues along the way, Matt spoke to me at length to discuss our options despite having no skin in the game. I have recently rented a property through Castles. We dealt with Jake and I’d like to leave this review as we had the best experience with him. So many companies just do the absolute minimum but not with him. He answered all our queries and has done above and beyond to make sure we are settled and happy at our new property. I contacted Giblin via telephone regarding a property local to them that they are advertising. It didn’t show any pictures of the bathroom so I rang asking mainly if there was a bath insitu, as that was what I wanted. The guy on the phone stated there was only a shower. I also asked if pets were accepted because I have a dog, he said that was fine, they are accepted. I said I’d discuss with my partner about the fact there was only a shower as it was possibly something we could put up with and that I would contact them back. A week went past and I noticed that more pictures had been put up for the same property and one of the pictures was of the bathroom showing a bath!!!! I rang this morning stating this was unusual as the man on the phone said there was only a shower. I said I was interested and double checked about the dog being accepted. The lady I spoke to said the landlord DOES NOT accept dogs! There is a huge lack of communication within the business clearly. I was very disappointed by this and will try and avoid any properties let through Giblin in my search to find a new home.

In a chain with other agents the dedication and focus of the Castles team was exceptional and honestly think we would still be trying to exchange if it wasn't for them. Jake Houchen is just brilliant. We had our viewing with Jake and from the get go he was so welcoming and approachable. After the viewing we had put forward an offer on the property and Jake kept us informed on any updates along the way which put our minds at ease through what would typically be, quite a stressful process. Once the reference checks had all been completed, Jake gave us the good news and we arranged a suitable day and time to collect the keys. On key collection day, he was as brilliant as he was on the first viewing. He gave us a beautiful move in box with some settling in supplies which we've never had from any other letting agent in the past. Beautiful touch.
