I would strongly advise anyone considering buying through Hunters to think twice. My experience with Hunters during the attempted purchase of a flat was extremely disappointing and, in my view, showed a serious lack of due diligence and transparency. I made my offer in August 2025 and, throughout the process, was repeatedly told that the existing tenants were expected to vacate within around two months. It was only later that I was told that the tenancy was actually a six month contract with no break clause. The agent handling my purchase subsequently confirmed this in writing, explaining that Hunters had been “under the impression there was one”, and that the tenancy actually ran until 24 January 2026. What I found particularly unacceptable was the lack of transparency. The agent handling my purchase already knew about the tenancy issue before properly telling me about it, following a phone conversation we had in mid September. Despite this, I was repeatedly given explanations that Hunters were waiting to hear from the vendor, including that the vendor was away. I had to repeatedly chase for answers. The email correspondence shows me asking for updates on 5, 10, 12 and 15 September, while I was repeatedly told that the matter was being chased or that I would receive a definite answer. By mid September, Hunters finally confirmed that the tenancy did not have the break clause they had originally believed existed and that the tenants were contractually entitled to remain until January. Hunters also knew that this was having a major impact on my purchase. I was trying to move to London because of my work, so the uncertainty meant extending my existing accommodation and disrupting my plans to relocate. I ultimately pulled out of the purchase because the sellers were also failing to provide my solicitor with the information needed to proceed. I want to be fair that the sellers and their solicitors contributed significantly to the eventual collapse of the transaction. However, my review is specifically about Hunters. The problem for me was that Hunters were the estate agent handling the transaction and, in my experience, failed to properly understand a fundamental issue with the tenancy, failed to communicate it transparently when they knew about it, and left me repeatedly chasing for information that should have been clear from the outset. I was eventually told by the agent handling my purchase, and subsequently by the agent's manager, that the person responsible had been fired. This was apparently presented as something that should make the situation better. It did not change the fact that I had spent months relying on information from Hunters that turned out not to be correct, had incurred additional costs and disruption, and had to abandon the purchase. I would strongly recommend that prospective buyers exercise extreme caution when dealing with Hunters. My experience was not simply that a property transaction became complicated. Transactions can obviously go wrong. My issue is that a fundamental tenancy problem was apparently not properly understood, and once it became known, I do not believe Hunters dealt with it with the transparency, urgency or professionalism I would expect from an estate agent handling a major property purchase.

One of my worst experience buying a house from hunters

One of my worst experience buying a house from hunters auction. House was listed on website and tenanted for a fixed amount of rent which I was told by the auction agent called Robert. Also house was in bad state but got told tenants don’t care so why do you. Only to find out later on that tenants have never paid anywhere near that amount and it’s so much lower. So was lied to first of all and then later to meet the tenants and for them to tell us all the work they was promised and they wanted the house fixing top to bottom. What an absolute joke and waste of time and money. Keep your money and go elsewhere they will tell you anything just to sell a house that is overpriced

Rude, poor service - a must avoid for renters

Rude, get passed around from pillar to post while they try to ignore your requests or questions. Tried for years to get them to fix things but just continually fell on deaf ears. Now they're trying to claim issues are my fault which are down to shoddy contractors (which they use consistently, including at one point despite having had yearly gas checks, I get told that the previous 6 years hasn't been done properly and the build up that caused a leak was because of this. Everything is everyone's issue but theirs. Renters, avoid at all costs!
