GoogleReally poor. Marketed with them and they were encouraging me to drop the price after a week, and then almost goaded me when after four weeks I said I’d had just five viewings. Rarely phoned me. I tried to view two properties with them. They were too busy. In one case the seller showed me round. I sold my house for more than the reduction Hockeys suggested I reduce to with another agent. Hockeys made me wait the full time before I could get rid of them. Do not use this estate agent.

GoogleCan't thank Ellis and team enough for what was made a much more stress free process than it could have been. Ellis was always available to talk and was proactive and engaging in giving progress updates but also facilitating conversations between onward vendors and solicitors. FacebookWhat a journey! We originally wanted a different property to the one we ended up buying. This unfortunately never really took off due to a difficult seller. However, after this disappointment, Ben Osbourne (after guidance from us of what we wanted) offered us a viewing of another property which we were very happy with. We felt Ben had really taken on board what we were looking for and done his best to match it! Highly recommended agents.

GoogleUp front, Hockey's showed a good understanding of how property sales work nowadays, and their fees were certainly competitive. Their advice on setting a sales price seemed well informed, and they organised an excellent presentation of the property online. During what turned out to be a long sales process, they were patient, their communication was always good, and they were smart in dealing with occasionally awkward buyers. That's everything you'd hope for in an estate agent really! Full marks.

GoogleI can’t warn you off Hockeys strongly enough. They will screw over both the seller and the buyer so they can try to keep their dirty, grasping little hands on as much of their commission as they can. If you have to buy a house through these racketeers, you have my deepest condolences. Make sure that you contact the sellers directly and copy them in to any communications. This way, the Hockeys conmen haven’t got the power to play you off against the seller. And make sure that you have everything in writing so you have a paper trail when you need to report Hockeys to the Property Ombudsman. If you have to sell a house, Hockeys should be your absolute last choice. They will not act in your best interests. Initially try any of the online-based services (cut out these useless middlemen), and then use literally anyone else. If you’re thinking about Hockeys, it’s probably best not to sell your house at all.
Thank you for your review. I am sorry to learn that you were not satisfied with the level of service received. I have spoken with the vendor of the property you purchased who conveyed to us that he was very happy with the level of service received from Hockeys, so I will make no further comment in that regard. I believe the main issue you encountered with your purchase, that you made no reference to in your review, was that we were unwilling to agree to a price reduction halfway through the sale due to some minor points raised on your survey. In addition you threatened to withdraw from the sale if the vendor did not agree to your proposed reduction in price by the full amount. As neither the vendor nor our company agreed with your view we were both willing to accept that you would withdraw your offer, which you did not do. Instead, rather than provide us with a counter offer to pass on to our client, you took it upon yourself to contact the vendor directly who reluctantly agreed to a substantially smaller price reduction than you had requested, purely to move on with the sale and show willing. We can only assume that you contacted the vendor directly as you were unhappy with the response given by our company on behalf of the vendor. Our client made us aware of your direct approach and the sale proceeded to an exchange of contracts. You felt it necessary to raise a complaint with our company and your complaint was not upheld for the above reason. One thing we do acknowledge, that you also do not make reference to in your review, is that you requested to be updated at regular intervals after the price re-negotiation, I agreed the updates given to you were intermittent and could have been better. In our complaint response letter you were given details of how your complaint could be escalated and referred to the property ombudsman, but you have chosen not to take the matter any further. In closing we are naturally disappointed that you were not happy with the service received and would like to thank you for bringing your experience to our attention. Jeremy Trott Director
