We had a terrible experience with this letting agency, the rental property (Marque House) and the company that manages the building (Encore). We moved in during COVID and the viewing was done via FaceTime. When we moved in the flat was dirty, carpets were disgusting (which of course was not shown on the video call). We asked for the carpets to be replaced, I have sent them multiple emails. Apparently, there was no response from the landlord. The carpets never got replaced. We repeatedly complained about the water pressure in the flat only to be told “it’s just the way the building is set up”. Eventually, we had to move out because the landlord decided to sell the flat. We left the flat spotless and clean, we got charged £50 for a light bulb that went out (ridiculous). After the flat got sold, they reached out asking if the water pressure has always been so low because whoever bought the property was asking. So, I ended up forwarding all the emails where we complained about it (including videos/photos). Also, good luck trying to get your deposit back. Once again I had to sent multiple emails requesting to return our deposit and provide final water bill. We moved out in July 2023, we never received the final water bill. After weeks of emailing, we asked them to calculate the water bill based on previous billing period, keep that amount and give us rest of the deposit back. Bidwells kept saying that the water bill issue was due to Encore not providing the bill (some sort of internal thing within Encore). This is just a small portion of the issues we had experienced with Bidwells. I highly suggest you stay away from this letting agency, renting at Marque House and/or dealing with Encore.

I telephoned the Norwich office

I telephoned the Norwich office, several times in one day, for help and advice. The lady who answered the phone was extremely helpful, putting me through several times, to another lady, who could deal with my query, who also helpfully answered all my questions each time I called. Both of these young ladies, were very professional, very helpful, polite and caring and extremely kind.I can’t praise them both enough for helping me and my family. Would highly recommend the Norwich Branch.

Fantastic professional service

Because it is my line work I did all the professional photography, the floor plans, the virtual tour (and hosted it on my professional servers), advert text (because their draft was rubbish), and showed all the viewers around. For all this Bidwells very begrudgingly, and not without chasing them several times, paid £100 into my bank account without even informing me. (They claim theis is what they normally pay for that work and could produce proof, which, of course, they never did…) And what did they do for their £11,400 fee for “selling” the property (which was paid immediately on completion date, no chasing required)? Someone visited my property once to make a valuation, an ad with my photos and text was put on their website and one or two main property websites. And they took and made a few telephone calls from/to potential buyers and liaised with me for me to do the viewings. I would have spent far more time and skill than they did… I’m in the wrong business, because this estate agent, with their very plush new offices, gets paid (not earns) extortionate amounts of money for doing virtually nothing…

They only did not rent a house, but also support me to understand the local regulation here, referencing requirements, etc., and made my family relocation very smooth. I started the process when I was there in the middle east and I got keys on the second day of landing in the UK. Online support was quick and precise. Excellent throughout. We used Bidwells for our sale and they were also the agents for our purchase. They did a sterling job throughout, from putting our house on the market through to exchange and completion (in both directions). The lead agent (Ollie Rivers) was terrific throughout, and provided much-needed positivity and energy, including throughout the unusual housing market circumstances of the Truss/Kwarteng budget. Bidwells managed viewings very well, and likewise the practicalities of the final stages of the sale/purchase. We'd use them again without hesitation (but hope not to need to for a long while!) and recommend them and Ollie wholeheartedly.
