We both bought and sold our home with Ocean. We then used their solicitors to do the conveyancy on both sides. It was an easy process and the whole thing (buying and selling) took just 15 weeks from initial contact to completion. The whole team worked really hard for us but I'd like to mention 3 people who really went above and beyond. Seamas, Emily and Livia, you all made our lives easier. Thank you

I had good service and communication throughout with everyone I talked to. They negotiated a good price for my property, and then helped with the process. In particular, the Move Manager Nicola provided an invaluable service in keeping me updated, helping chases solicitors, and move things along. This made the proces much less stressful. I would use Ocean again.

My experience is in a minor situation, but one, I think, worth recording. For many years, I rented a garage from the now-deceased owner of the property. After her death, it fell to Ocean to sell the property. Ocean contacted me, in a courteous way. Although I attended one viewing, I was pleased to be confident to lend the keys. When the sale was, finally, concluded quickly, although it left me the task of vacating the garage, I had made plans; and Ocean staff were helpful and flexible, in ensuring that I could move, without undue stress. In my visits to the Westbury Office, I dealt with several members of staff - principally Melissa Bell - who all treated me with the same warmth, as if I had been a client - not a mere third-party - which was just right. As several dates were involved, I shall use the date of this review.

Initial contact with Ocean is great, pre having a sale agreed, they answer the phone quickly and seem really on it. However, it’s a whole different story whilst the sales transaction is going through … they have all your numbers on their system and then just refuse to answer the phone to you. They do not consider it their responsibility to ensure your purchase goes though promptly, and it is their policy to not discuss a move date at all until all solicitors have completed the paperwork. This seems sensible, but results in them taking no ownership at all over how long it takes for your sale to go through. Instead, when you do finally get through to them, you get platitudes about managing your mental health, rather than updates of how you sale is proceeding. My 1 star review relates to the fact that I have now both bought and sold through Ocean, and both transaction took 6 months despite their straightforward nature (chain free or with 1 link in the chain). They will almost certainly reply to this saying that time scale is ‘normal’ or my case was ‘complex’. I would assert that yes, I can now believe 6 months plus is normal for a sale via ocean (though I have seen 12-16 weeks quoted as normal elsewhere) and would struggle to see how my transactions could have been any less complex! Believe what you will, just felt it was best to share my experience. Up to you if 6 months and upwards feels right for you :-)Ocean also tried to trap me into using their Conveyancing Solicitors by simply ‘agreeing to on my behalf’, I can’t imagine that service is very good either if that’s the way that business is created.

We had Joshua as our agent and he was very helpful at all times. He would reply to any inquiries we sent as well as helping us through the process. Overall it was a very stress free and efficient process. We viewed the house on a Friday and by the following Monday received confirmation it was ours! Would definitely recommend and use again in the future! Many thanks to Ocean and to Joshua.

The staff were a pleasure to deal with. From those in the estate agency and the solicitors office. Our moving day didn’t go as planned due to the World Wide Web internet problems and phones being down in the local office, but the staff worked hard and we were eventually, and thankfully given the keys very late in the afternoon.
