They (Watford/Rickmansworth branch) are racist, cheaters, and totally unprofessional. were extremely rude in showing properties and try everything to delay a deal in order to hoard it to cash buyers. Don't use them and be cautious when dealing, if you have to.

Over Priced and Very Hands Off

Their costs are much higher than most estate agents so I would have expected a superior service. But there is no communication - they don’t respond to emails or deal with any problems that arise. They just keep taking their 13 percent. Do not entrust your property to this company - you can find better and cheaper.

Gibbs Gillespie scrape in with 2 stars... simply because their responsiveness and help pre-letting the property to myself was sufficiently professional and painless... However.The inventory company they used was shoddy and didnt pick up the basics (they dont care as 'you' will pay at the end if you dont spot the obvious. Gibbs said a deposit had been 'actioned' when it hadn't, they held on to nearly £2000 for a further 5 days before releasing it.They really didnt care about the ridiculous estimate to fix what were fabricated faults. After negotiting down from £125 to £70 I just gave up. This £70 was for basically wiping down some kitchen cabinets! I am a landlord myself, so I understand how poor tenants can be, but a tenant that leaves a property in a much better state than when he moved in (the previous tenant was probably charged too) - is unforgivable.I realise that they are acting on behalf of the landlord, but being the managing agent, it is their responsibility to tell the landlord to get real.

This company promised me the earth the moon and the stars as well as indicating they would leave no stone unturned to find me a tenant. I had to do my own viewings, was fed unsuitable potential tenants, had next to nil contact from them to discuss how best to market my property. Overall they were unhelpful and the icing on the cake was when I sacked this useless and horrendous set up, the lettings manager had the nerve to say to me that I was too far out for them right from the beginning. Avoid at all costs.

As a seller, we were given feedback for each viewing and the whole team has been very professional. We appreciate the realistic approach from Daniel, the branch manager, on the state of the market and Vishaal, one of the three staff who showed viewers of our property, for the updates during the process leading up to the exchange. It is currently a tough housing market, especially in London, but it is noteworthy that because the Thorgills team works longer hours and days than most of their competitions, it is definitely a better bet. Avoid this joke of a company !!!

We used josh from the Rickmansworth office, he told us a load of lies to get us to sign up and overvalued the property He also said there was no tie in and we could leave after 7 weeks which we now realise was another lie I guess he has no idea on selling as we haven’t received a single offer !!After the 20 week period we will find an agent that is professional and able to sell properties Avoid Gibbs at all costs if you have any sense just read all the other reviews ( I wish I had !!)

If you are satisfied by sales patter

If you are satisfied by sales patter, glossy brochures & flashy branch ofices then you are in the right place.However if you want an accurate & realistic valuation (not a fairy story one that is solely to get you under contract) & thereafter a planned sales strategy then you may be disappointed.My experience of a recent sale (or non-sale really) proved almost every stereotype. Wildly inaccurate valuation in order to influence instruction & suggesting poor knowledge of local market. Launched without further consultation on either price or target demographic. Thereafter a steady stream of unsuitable viewings, no shows & wasted weekends.It appears that simply publishing the details to the well known property portals & waiting for the phone to ring is the limit to sales skills. The ‘database of buyers’ yielded nothing & I would expect more from a ‘leading agent’Far from reasonable communication, poor quality viewings & no cohesive sales strategy other than suggesting regular reductions or to reconsider speculative offers. Any sale is better than no sale, seemingly the thinking behind this. Really?Fortunately we weren’t in a chain & in no urgent rush so simply saw out the prohibitive 20 week contract (check the smallprint!) & will move to a more pro-active agent on a shorter tie in.Without the sharp suits, glossy booklets & slick presentations it is just the same as any other agency relying on Rightmove & Zoopla to make the phone ring.If you want a sale in good time & at the right price though you will be better off somewhere that the sales staff are a little hungrier to work with you.

Extremely disorganized and dishonest. Their left hand doesn't speak to right hand. Took ages to organize a viewing on a million pound plus property because they have two agents who don't care to coordinate with each other. Lied to us about the state of the property - saying its new refurbished when the property is actually a dump that hasn't been touched for 40 years as the owners there confirmed. Extremely rude when challenged on why they lied and wasted our time. Never going to buy or sell anything through these cowboys.

I had very bad experience with Thorgills and won't use their services anymore. I liked a house and I paid 500 pounds to take the property off the market, then my offer was accepted and I paid more than 5000 pound deposit to secure new home. At the day that i had to collect the keys and move, it was Friday 17.45pm, i have been told i can't have the home due to some legal issues related to the landlord mortgage. Very unprofessional, Thorgills should have known about these issues before accepting my offer and deposit... Very very disappointed.

Bad communication and unprofessional

I went to buy a property through this agent and all good to start with. Put an offer on the property and waited 2 weeks to hear back to say it had been accepted. A month passes with the agent avoiding my calls despite me chasing, leaving messages and even putting an ultimatum to the only person who would speak to me which was the trainee they had showing me round when I viewed the property. I ultimately pulled out despite all the work done by brokers, solicitors and mortgage provider which left me in an awkward position to deal with the aftermath. I wouldn't trust them as far as you can throw them. AVOID THEM and definitely don't believe anything they say.
