Lynnew start at BRACKENHALL

Lynsey has asked for more information. Thankfully and at a stroke we have our management back on a full time basis. This is all residents wanted as we felt under valued, not seeing management. It IS a nice building and, thanks to Anne, the gardens are a treat. Hopefully my comments came over as positive and certainly not personal . I look forward to 4+ more years at BRACKENHALL. We need to get more involved with resident involvement and the recent questioairre from Becci Lynch is helpful. We are glad to be back on track and look forward to new Residents joining us.With regards, Clive.)

Disgraceful staff.....I have existed at an Anchor property…

I have existed at an Anchor property for three years. The so called management are never there and on the rare occasions they are, never put a full day in. From entering the building they enter their office, lock it and pull the blinds down. ALL DAY. We are told by them on a daily basis they have no Duty of Care towards us and even if we fall down they will not act. I have been a Registered Manager of Care Homes for 20 years. I know what i am talking about. This Company is a disgrace and if youre thinking of placing a loved one with this Company, run a mile. Seriously.

Anchor Hanover Care Home The Ridings Banbury…

Anchor Hanover The Ridings Banbury failed in their duty of care to keep my Mother in a safe an clean environment. My complaint was upheld by the Local Government Ombudsman - Banbury. See; decisions/adult-care-services/residential-care Number 21-006-626. Basically this just skims the surface of my Mothers care. She was left in a dirty room with long filthy nails looking totally unkempt on one occasion when I managed to get access to her room during covid. But on 6th April 2021 they dropped my Mother whilst she was being transferred from her wheelchair to a lounge chair resulting in grazed upper arms. They admitted she should of had two carers transferring her. There was only one present at the time. On the 7th April she was left in her own urine in bed from approx 6am as reported by night staff - until I visited at 11.00 am and found her in bed in urine up to her armpits. This is after being visited by night staff, morning staff and District nurses prior to my visit. On the 8th April 2021 she was dropped again whilst being transferred from wheelchair to lounge chair resulting in a leg fracture below her knee. She was taken to hospital by ambulance unaccompanied - she has dementia - resulting in a full leg cast from hip to toes. She also had anemia and a water infection on admission. She did return to the home but passed away three weeks later. After numerous correspondence with Anchor I finally received an apology from the CEO today 28th April 2022. To be honest it was not worth the paper it was written on. The Ombudsman made Anchor Hanover award us £1250.00 as compensation which does not even equate to a weeks care that my Mother was paying at the time. The only reason Anchor are working with the Ombudsman to improve their failings is because legally they have to. They did not award the money off of there own backs there was never any recompense from Anchor to make up for the shocking care and the total of £43,000 worth of care over the 8 Months my Mother was in The Ridings. This is not a small company, Anchor Hanover ( a not for profit charitable organisation ) own a huge amount of assets with the CEO earning upwards of £500,000 per annum plus bonuses etc. My Mother was paying £4,750.00 per Month from her own savings. Why should someone have to pay this amount of money when Anchor have admitted to not providing the standard of care that she should of had and that they were contracted to provide. I have returned the £1250.00 back to the CEO.

Hello Ms WhiteWe offer our sincere condolences to you and your family. We are deeply sorry that you had to raise these issues with us in the first instance and that your experience and that of your late mother, fell short of the standards you expect and we expect. We are aware of the determination from the Ombudsman and worked closely with them throughout their investigation, which has led to improvements being made to the care delivery at the home. As discussed previously, we would like to assure you that we have taken action to ensure this does not happen again. The health, safety and wellbeing of our residents is paramount.Kind RegardsLynsey

St.Edith's Court, Hillside Crescent, Leigh-on-Sea

St.Edith's Court, Leigh-on-sea is where my family decided to place our father due to his complex needs increasing. Our tour and information guide was given by a senior carer and all our questions were answered competently. We instantly felt a warm, caring, respectful environment thrived at St. Edith's. Our father has lived there since November 2021 and has described the home and beautiful gardens as "heaven." His transition into the home was managed respectfully and Anchor staff have treated our father with respect, care, compassion at all times. We have never seen our father so happy and he has joined in all the social activities that are available throughout the day. All the staff have made a conscious effort to know our father and his interests and have adapted activities to his liking. Whenever we visit, there is always a warm welcome and you are made to feel part of the home. Regular displays of activities that residents have taken part in are updated around the home which is visual assurance for loved ones and stimulation for residents. Staff are always seen conversing with residents and shown respect. Lockdown has been addressed by the home in a positive manner and residents have taken part in daily "golden hour" conversations where all staff, of all descriptions make sure residents are conversed with. Relatives are kept informed of the home's daily activities and a monthly zoom meeting is well attended. Food is cooked on site with an excellent choice available. The home is immaculate both inside and outside with a stunning garden area for residents and relatives to enjoy. I cannot thank Anchor for employing such wonderful people and putting residents care as a topmost priority. Thank You to each and everyone of you.

29/03/22 Update2 - standard cut and paste response below as usual. - Anchor asked Trustpilot that I remove certain identifying points in my review. Still no reply from CS email.28/03/22 UPDATE1 - Oh hang on they actually just sent an auto acknowledge email response to the email to customerservices so wonders never cease. I will hold my review complaint for now. ==================================As Anchor appear to ignore all complaints it would seem to both the official email address often touted here, and also the alleged independent tenant panel which also ignores emails. Perhaps someone here might deal with it here please?Subject: Complaint regarding passive smoking endangering tenants health.Dear Sir/Madam,This is to inform you that I am a carer covering three of your homes/complexes in 3 areas. I wish initially to raise this issue in a confidential fashion in order to avoid tenants concerns about evictions and other retribution. I am sure this matter can easily be resolved without recourse to health and safety laws and regulations and such like.I am writing this letter in order to inform you that I am noticing complaints for a long time on your properties about concerns re: passive smoking dangers and that little is being done to prevent this. In particular that a couple residing at the flat ** Hanover Close in Newmarket ****** both smoke in the rear patio of their flat, and at the front of this property. This is a ground floor apartment and they smoke frequently throughout the day. This directly affects all the neighbours surrounding this property in a tight square and who are subject to the toxic smoke which is both noxious and dangerous as we all know. Many there and elsewhere feel they cannot open their windows/doors, even in summer, as a consequence of this antisocial conduct, this itself is also a health hazard in itself. Approaching the smokers can and does lead to an aggressive response, conflict, and is rarely successful. Managers have been informed to little effect. It needs some strong leadership from Anchor hanover to stop this. Many residents have serious health issues which include lung diseases and this is a grave cause for concern as you could be held liable for any health hazards. You should be aware and I beg to inform you that passive smoking is very harmful and that might affect residents, tenants and visitors and carers like me along with families etc. This is to inform you that such activities are intolerable and need to be fixed at the earliest in order to prevent serious consequences. As this is causing indiscipline and disturbance to everyone involved, it is to request you to kindly take appropriate action at the earliest.Flat ** has neighbours above and below and to each side suffering. Flat ** has a small back door garden they smoke in. The surrounding flats have similar gardens and above there are balconies which residents like to sit in and on. There is a smoking sign adjacent to the stairwell which is also insufferable that this is allowed at all on the property. There is a green space in the middle of the complex where they could smoke which would not be so directly harmful to others. There is also a large park adjacent where they could smoke till their hearts content without inflicting it on others. We are not allowed to smoke in bars and restaurants any more and we shouldn't be allowed to inflict our dangerous harmful smoking on a captive audience in Anchorhanover homes or any other community. Please act swiftly as I am sure you are unaware. You need to make the managers stronger with more powers too to stop this kind of antisocial and dangerous conduct upsetting the majority. Can you please advise what your smoking policy is and where the rules and regulations you adhere to can be found?Regards,A Carer.

Lake Head Court, Keswick.

My father moved in to Lake Head Court in Keswick, 12 months ago, to say his life has changed is an understatement. Lake Head Court is friendly and immaculately clean, this is down to Katharine the manager and the team. He moved from an isolated village where he walked very little, he now regularly walks around town between my house and my brothers, he often talks about the new friends and the support he is given at Lake Head Court. Also taking regular trips around Cumbria on the bus, previously his opportunity to travel was limited to two buses a week . If there is an example of excellence on independent living in a sheltered environment Lake Head Court is it.

I wrote a review regarding AnchorAnchor Housing making Profit on the sale of Water.…

I wrote a review regarding Anchor Housing selling water to customers at Poplar Court Manor road Scarbourough they asked for my contact information, they have made no contact. A one bedroom flat at this location will have water cost of £713.00 a year £59.42 a month They have produced a statement showing a £6,000 deficit re there water charges, It has to be taken into consideration this is based on what they choose to charge for water, NOT what the actual cost of water is from the Water board, Anchor Housing is claiming to be a non profit making organisation, how can they justify making profit on the sale of water? especially in a time when cost of gas and electricity are at an all time high, we have no alternative but to contact our MP/Councillor/Ombudsman ext. in the hope that Anchor will show they are actually a not for profit organisation.

With Anchor (charitable not for profit company) it is quite clear that charity begins at home (but not our homes). the only

My last review of De Havilland Way, Abbots Langley, was in September. Not much has changed since then. We are now approaching 2 years since the last Resident Estate Manager left before the first Covid lockdown. Anchor are still charging in full for a 22 hour per day resident manager, while only providing a 4 hour per week . Contractors are unsupervised. Complaints about overcharging are ignored. Promises of a new manager are regularly made but not fulfilled. Other residents have moved away or died and will never be recompensed for the continued overcharging. The only improvement has been since the management structure changed. We now have a much more pleasant and approachable Area Manager and Temporary (4 h/week) visiting site manager. Unfortunately they seem powerless to influence the Anchor culture of taking residents money for services not provided. Anyone might think Anchor is strapped for cash. That is rubbish. Annual turnover is £522 million, Annual Operating costs are £460 million, Annual operating surplus is £60 million. Here's where the charity is - Directors'emoluments are £2+ million of which the CEO's take home pay, including bonuses (for doing a great job???- I doubt it!) and perks like private healthcare and car allowance total £430,000. Meanwhile, residents of his estate have in the last 2 years been overcharged by almost £1,000 and this looks set to continue at about £42 per month. So clearly charity begins at the homes of the CEO and directors. The company is just a money grubbing machine. Emails written by its employees (if you can get a response) all come with a disclaimer which says in effect that the are the views of individuals whose views may not represent the company views and Anchor does not accept any responsibility for what they say. So why do they bother replying at all instead of weasel words which mean nothing. The Custome Services Manager, Jonathan Earnshaw, has a smiley face and writes on his page ion the website, "We pride ourselves in delivering a high standard of service, though realise that things can go wrong ... our aim is to resolve your complaint as quickly as possible". What planet is Bradford on? I always thought it was in Yorkshire, where the really understood the meaning of "brass"!!!Anchor rubbish - steer clear if you can.

Read up online how many deaths Anchor…

Read up online how many deaths Anchor have had to admit liability for.As regards where I am in rented accomodation, there were 3 flats here that failed their electrical tests, mine included. That was a couple of years ago. I have an email here from our area manager stating they have up to 5 years to effect repairs (Yes you read that correctly and the manager is wrong). However I will hold them to their reply. I’m properly insured and I don’t care if this place does catch fire so 5 years it will be.Even better than that are the corridor windows here. They are standard double-glazed windows. That is apart from the fact that Anchor now insists on calling them “smoke vents” and they are electrically locked to prevent tenants opening them for ventillation etc. They will only open electrically in the event of a fire. Far from ventillating the smoke they will provide an ample influx of oxygen which will fan the fire. I am trying to get our local Council involved on that score.Any tenant knows there are estate fees covering services such as common utilities etc. So when I found out Anchor were not utilising they cheapest utility companies (despite claiming to) they were none too happy and tried to bury that. Even better was when our estate electric comsumption suddenly doubled (according to Anchor anyway) and the tenants were faced with a much larger bill. I asked if the meters were fault tested and I was told no. Common sense means they should be investigating the issue. Raised as a complaint I got a response after quite some wait from their illustrious “customers services” stating they were sorry they hadn’t complied within the allotted timescale. That was it. Not an inkling of when or if they are going to even attempt to investigate the issue.Other people posting here are correct. Anchor responses on here are nothing more than attempt to save face. And Anchor, if you go down the route of trying to have this truthful review removed, I will publish everything I have including email responses from your organisation as well as the emails I have from our local Council. The best advice I can offer (like a lot of people have expressed already) is if people are looking for accomodation, give Anchor a seriously wide berth.

Want to be treated as a 2nd class citizen

I have been a resident for 5 months in rented retirement flat. My tenancy agreement has been broken over and over again by this company. I have been forced to live next door to a man with dementia ( these flats are not a care home, only for independent living) The man turns common areas into open toilets. Turns common area heating on full while the outside temperature is 27c. I have been subject to him throwing things at me and trying to hit me. He bangs his door 24/7. It was not disclosed when I moved in that he had dementia. No amount of complaining produces any results for myself or other residents. Also it is the law that to gain access to your rented property for maintenance, 24 hours notice should be given. This is not the case at this property. There was a knock on my door, within seconds my front door was opened and they walked in to test the pull cord alarms! It doesn't matter about the tenant, whatever the circumstances the tenant must endure. In 5 months of living here I am now being treated by a doctor for extreme stress
