Avoid Miller Metcalfe rental properties at all costs!

We rented a property from Miller Metcalfe for 3.5 years in Disley. When we were shown around, we were assured that damp was not an issue with the property. We paid a deposit of £900 and that was held with the DPS. During the 3.5 years we were tenants, we had a number of problems. A few minor issues were fixed by the landlord, but the main issues (mould, mice, severe damp, banging pipe in the toilet every time you flushed, lights above the Rayburn which did not work, periods with no hearing, periods with no running water; a non-working log burning fire) were never fixed at all, despite repeated requests. We served Notice to Quit in due course, and spent the best part of £300 cleaning the property over 2 days. We then received an email from the owner (Alaine) claiming that the property hadn't been cleaned, needed a new carpet and needed new locks, and suggesting a sum in the region of £400 was to be withheld. We responded straight away to that email but had no response whatsoever for a month. After chasing and making a very reasonable proposal, the sum remains with the DPS and looks to be heading to a mediation. Avoid Miller Metcalfe rental properties at all costs!

We have had very poor service property management

We have had very poor service in managing our rental property. Next to impossible to get a response or contact any one, any email sent elicits a auto acknowledgement, no response for weeks, tried to phone , keep you on hold for 5 minutes and then directed to voice mail to leave a message. Very poor accounts department, invoices not sent promptly, but are very quick in chasing up, authorised repairs take months to complete. Don't think will renew management contract when it comes for renewal. This all began when they centralised the management in Nottingham or wherever it is. No local contacts.

Absolute shambles of a company AVOID!

Terrible company. The customer service is atrocious as they ignore your emails and when they do eventually reply they haven’t answered any of your questions so you are still none the wiser. Asking them to call you falls on deaf ears too, they don’t call you. They don’t chase tenants rent so you the landlord are left short and when they do, it’s the end of the month before they’ve even made an effort to get your money. They don’t seem to register that mortgages need paying at the start of the month. Then they accept rent from tenants via cheque! You would expect a legitimate letting agency to set up direct debits or standing orders as standard practice, but no you’re left waiting for bloody cheques to clear. I’ve been waiting 2 weeks for a cheque to clear from my tenant, and no matter how many times I email, I am ignored! Would not recommend this company to manage your property. Go elsewhere or look after it yourself!

As a landlord, I paid MM to install a new boiler, subject to a 5 year warranty which they confirmed by email. Attempting to use the warranty, only 3 years later, MM deny all knowledge of it despite their email being evidence in my favour. They further suggest that the MM dealt with in 2016 is now in Administration and claims should be against them. No help whatsoever. I would not trust this company any further.

Great to deal with helped with all issues to do with our move

We have recently Sold our property and bought our new one with Miller Metcalfe we found there service very good our property details were done very quickly and we sold our property within 4 weeks!!! the pictures taken were much better than we had seen from other estate agents, also throughout the buying and selling process they were on hand to assist with any issue raised and made sure our move went through as smoothly as possible. We lost a loved member of the family and had to sort everything out very quickly, as we live abroad and were only in England for a short time. We invited 3 estate agents to value the house and chose Miller Metcalfe due to price (obviously), value given for the house but also on how we felt about the company based on the confidence we had in the person who came to see us. It was a great choice! We contacted lots of staff members during the process but all were up to speed and everyone returned calls if we needed a particular individual. They were efficient, helpful, cheerful and professional. Our only (slight) reservation was that the house did not appear on their website for a few weeks but it was sold very shortly afterwards, and we were kept advised of progress, despite a prolonged probate period. We were impressed with all our dealings with Miller Metcalfe and would definitely recommend them.

Above and beyond the call of duty!!!

Miller Metcalfe offered support and guidance during our house move. All I can say is that they made what is a very stressful time a lot less stressful. Just to know that they were on the end of the phone to listen to my concerns which they always quickly alleviated is invaluable. Their knowledge of how the house moving process runs from both personal experience and also working experience has been a huge help. They stepped in when it wasn’t really within their remit to do so, I was on the verge of total panic and knew that they would be able to and would want to help and that means so much.
