We had the great pleasure of purchasing our first home nearly 8 years ago with Ocean Clifton. We shopped around for quotes and get a feel for other Agents' service before deciding to list our home with Ocean recently (other Agents just didn't compare to Andrew Beazer's approach, honesty and efficiency). Needless to say, without doubt, we made the right decision to go back to Ocean. Liaising throughout, swift viewings arranged, communication throughout by all the team especially Neil, Adam and Kristie, was fantastic. We made the decision to sell our property through Ocean because we saw the value in using one company for all our selling needs. After meeting 4x top estate agents in the area as well as online estate agents we decided to use Ocean to market our property, offer free mortgage advise and use Ocean Property Lawyers to handle the legal side of things. We thought that by having one company do all elements it would make for a much smoother process as all the personnel involved would know each other and would therefore have clear lines of communication when it was needed most. I am pleased to say that we were absolutely right in our decision and the whole process has been so smooth and not the usual 'nightmare' selling and buying process that you hear too often from friends and family that have recently been through the process. My wife and I would like to say a special thank you to Cameron and Samantha at the Filton branch and to Helen, Neil and Tracey from the Clifton and Knowle branches for all their amazing hard work and professionalism. I used Ocean in Southville when I moved house in Bristol several years ago and they were amazing. When I saw the house I wanted to buy was being sold through Ocean in Portishead I was really pleased. Paul from the Southville office was working there so I knew we were in safe hands.My personal favourite from this move was Craig. He is professional and friendly but his best attributes are his attention to detail and his ability to chase everything up and keep the process moving. A tough, laborious process, but as the buyers, Katie and the team always had the answer for us. Nothing could have been done with regards to the length of the sale, but they went to every effort to keep us promptly and fully informed. We chose Ocean because we liked Clare’s easy and clear communication and felt the valuation was realistic. Ocean were excellent throughout the whole process, particularly when there were numerous hitches further down in the chain causing unexpected delays. Just bought a new property through Ocean in Portishead. As it only lets me review Ocean Group as a whole I've had to go with 4 stars. This is an average of the 5 stars I'd give Ocean Home and the 3 stars for Ocean Finance.Ocean Home - 5 starsThe whole team we dealt with regarding our home purchase were friendly, professional, helpful, patient and quick to respond. Particularly Harley who showed us around some properties, and liaised so well with the vendor for us. Also Paul the branch manager was efficient and helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I really couldn't fault the service we had from them and wouldn't hesitate to use them again or recommend them.Ocean Finance - 3 starsWe decided to use the Finance Team at Ocean before knowing we were going to buy a house from them. The initial advisor was professional and took time to answer our questions. We did feel though that there was one preferred option all the way through of which mortgage we should have. It was used as a 'random example' at the beginning and then when it came to final choice, it was slightly the second best option financially (not too much in it) and we were encouraged with them as they were a lot quicker processing things. They weren't. Our mortgage process took 3-4 weeks to go through. The main issue was that the mortgage company required various additional things to verify our deposit. Rather than Ocean asking specifically what they wanted we'd receive a vague request, ask for more info, wait 3 more days for a reply, give what they asked, wait 3 more days, be told they wanted something different...and so on...I feel the Ocean team should have a) known what the mortgage company wanted as they have experience and b) if they didn't know then asked. This would have saved lots of time.Ocean LawyersWe didn't use this part of the team as preferred to keep things separate.

Looking into the matter we can see a mortgage offer was indeed issued within 4 weeks but can also see they did often come back requiring clarification on certain matters. Sadly, applying for a mortgage can be frustrating at times, not only do individual mortgage companies require varying degrees of information but also underwriters in the same company often appear to require differing levels of detail. We have passed your comments onto the mortgage team so that they are able to learn from what you have said and one of them would more than happily speak with you if you would like any further clarification on the points raised. We have nothing but positive words to share about my experience purchasing a house through Ocean. Initially, we were supported by Graham to apply for our mortgage. As first time buyers we were completely out of our depth and Graham guided us through our options and enabled us to make an informed choice. Numerous times throughout the 11 long months it took to purchase the house, we contacted Graham again for support and advice and he was extremely helpful every time. We were supported by move manager Lauren throughout the purchasing process. We cannot explain accurately enough how wonderful Lauren was. The process was complicated due to various factors relating to existing tenants and structural issues. Lauren is a great communicator and maintained close contact with myself as well as the seller, enabling the process to move forwards through what was quite a complicated situation. Lauren undoubtedly went above and beyond for us, providing sensible advice and at times listening to me overflowing with anxiety and stress. She reassured us and filled us with confidence when we had nearly given up hope that the sale would ever complete. Estate agents often get a bad rep - and we had incorrectly assumed this was correct - Lauren proved to us that estate agents can be personable, supportive, understanding, professional and caring whilst ensuring the job at hand is completed. Thanks so much for everything. When the time comes in the future for us to sell our recently purchased house, we wouldn't think twice about doing this through Ocean. We had previously marketed with Connells, we were very disappointed with their service, particularly their communication with us. We had to do the chasing and they didn't seem interested in us post securing our business. I made this clear to Ocean that I valued regular communication, even if it was just to check in. The communication we then received throughout our sale was exemplary - we had regular communication with numerous Ocean Filton employees and they all knew our property and what we were looking for. From the start, Dallas was professional and clear on how Ocean would market our property, then through the viewings Cameron and the team gave very good feedback and were very proactive at booking viewings in. When we didn't get many offers, they recommended a new strategy, which worked very well - they clearly know the market. With a buyer pulling out the team at Ocean really worked together to get more people through the door and get another offer in (we had a few more!), considering the circumstances we were in, where we would lose the new build house we wanted if we didn't get another offer soon, Ocean were fantastic at working hard to get us a new reliable buyer in a short time-frame (around 3-4 days from re-market to new offer) - excellent work. Post offer acceptance Sam has done an unbelievable job - Redrow have pushed hard to get us to an exchange point, ringing Sam and our solicitors daily. Sam was the driving force between our buyer/solicitor, Redrow and our solicitor - we owe her our sincere thanks for chasing, communicating clearly, listening to our concerns, placating Redrow and stressing the importance of our buyers moving quicker. Further, Ocean were very sensitive about the fact that we had a new baby through the period, especially with the viewings - there was no pressure on us, they worked around us & even gave us a lovely new-born card. A welcoming touch,We thoroughly recommend the Ocean Filton branch, and do actively recommend to anyone we know who is selling.

Lauren Stanley looked after us during the very lengthy purchasing process. They are no words to describe how brilliant she was.As fist-time buyers, it was quite a scary world we stepped into and to be honest we didn't understand a lot about it. She was great an managing our expectations and keeping us up to date every single week without a fail. We can't speak for the rest of the chain but our solicitor sadly wasn't the most efficient so Lauren seemed to fill the gaps, keeping in touch with the rest of the chain and helping moving things along for us. She answered all of the questions that we had and was contently in touch with our solicitor which we think must have made a huge difference to how quickly the exchange happened. It must have been a difficult project to work on but Lauren was remained positive and encouraging throughout. We sometimes think that the exchange might have not happened if it was't for her.
