I went to Intercounty in Bishops Stortford where I live to ask for help in finding a place to rent. The people there were really lovely. Katie recommended me a place and also offered her business card to stay in touch. When I went to do a viewing for a property another Intercounty agent , Aimee, was really welcoming and with great knowledge of the property. Aimee as well offered me her business card if I need to get in touch. Really nice experience overall!

Fantastic service

Kat Keats has been brilliant at managing our property and it’s always such a pleasure to speak to her. Kat is so capable, pragmatic, efficient and very trustworthy. When Kat took a break from the business things definitely went astray and we were so grateful when she came back. With Kat we always felt the property was well looked after. We were very sad to say goodbye when we sold the property. Josh and Charlotte could not have been more helpful with handling the sale. Doug is very personable and easy to deal with. Although we were not a direct client of his, as we were the buyers, he did treat us like one. We had a very lengthy house purchase, and during the 9 months I think I spoke more to Doug than my husband. He was very good at keeping us in the loop and providing regular updates.We also really rate James, he is very down to earth and he offered us lots of good advice. If we were to sell in the future, I would want to use him. I think his career in real estate will go far and I can see him heading up a branch one day in the not so near future.

Great service from a Buyers perspective

We have just bought a house that was sold through Intercounty. They have been professional, punctual and personable throughout the whole process. We needed to visit the house on 3 occassions at short notice to survey, measure for carpets and get a quote with a plumber, and it was never a problem gaining access (special thanks to Olivia). It was also helpful to have Doug Whybrow as our liason between the sellers solicitor and our solicitor. He was fantastic at keeping us informed of progress and helping out with any queries.

Chloe Haken and Luke Harrison at Braintree had to work very hard in the final days of securing the tenants for our property through no fault of their own AND neither was it ours or the tenants!! The referencing agency, sadly I do not have their name yet, fell woefully short of what it says on the tin, REFERENCING. They failed to pursue the stumbling block as ferociously as these two employees had to and dealing with the payroll department of a High Street frozen food company who only deign to answer their phones for two hours a day has to be experienced to be believed! Such incompetence and indifference. Chloe had been on hold for nearly half an hour to this company when we arrived in the office and finally she got through and explained very clearly what was required and we needed it now not next week. She got it. These two have more patience than I have and now our tenants are moving in after a delay of many days. Thank you Chloe and Luke.

Helen Mehmet did a good job

Helen Mehmet graciously drove me from property to property in winter 2018/19, listened to our requirements, saw how much we had brought from South Africa, and then searched for something that could meet our needs. I think she did a good job of showing me a range of sizes and locations so that I could understand where our property fits into the housing stock on the market.She was always friendly and professional and came up with two properties that were potentially suitable. There is probably a bigger property out there but we settled on a house built in 1956. Being old it needs some work but it is ours: no more paying rent (and therefore paying off the landlord's mortgage!). We have parking, a garage and a room we have dedicated to laundry: drying, ironing, folding all in one place. Fantastic!Buying a house in the UK was onerous: we discovered it is a very expensive process, complicated, confusing and stressful. In that regard our solicitor from Premier Property really looked after our interests and advised us.

After deciding to rent my flat I saw 3 agents from different companies.I was most impressed with Dan from the initial meeting, he was very thorough, had excellent knowledge of the rental market and great advice for a new landlord.He worked with me to my timeframe and after advertising the flat to rent it was taken 4 days later!I wasn’t aware there was so much to sort out when renting a property, however I can say that working with Dan has made the process as easy as possible for me. Nothing was too much trouble, whether it was a query I had via email or telephone, and always responded the same day. I used to deal with Intercounty for apartment rent for half a year. I wish to continue but my employer has moved so did I. Kelly McAvoy at Intercounty was my property manager, she was my first point of contact to resolve any issues at the property. Kelly has been very helpful at all times, and very quick to respond and act. I would highly recommend this letting agency instead of any other local agencies, I know very bad experience from my colleague renting with another agent, he was dreaming to deal with Intercounty though. Intercounty helped me find my first home! Everyone always answered my phone calls and even texted me when convenient when I was a work and couldn’t answer the phone. And questions I had big or small there was always someone there, right from how to pay my bills to setting up insurance for my contents and my self! We have been extremely impressed with Intercounty Bishop’s Stortford, from start to finish. From the first class customer service we received from Meg (when we first walked in last year). This was then followed by excellent service from Helen Mehmet, who worked tirelessly on our behalf by securing our sale and purchase (to which we’re both extremely grateful to her for). We then dealt with Doug Whybrow thereafter, who has been very efficient and professional throughout this process. We are now due to complete on Tuesday. We highly recommend this Estate Agent. They have certainly put any scepticism, that we have had due to past experiences, finally to bed.

STAY AWAY They asked me to leave a 5 star review before I moved in please ignore that and PLEASE DON’T RENT FROM HERE. It’s nightmarish, lists and lists of issues that they promised to sort out in March 2024. My fridge is broken and it’s taken 2 people (the 3rd coming soon) and months of waiting to tell me it’s broken. My extractor fan is old and tiny so the bathroom ceiling is covered in mould and they painted my bathroom with paint that isn’t suited for bathrooms so it retains water thus causing more mould. Most of my windows have been broken with large cracks going down them which happened before I moved in which haven’t been sorted. Me and my partner have had countless days off to accommodate these people and yet nothing gets done. I’m currently writing this as my boiler has randomly given out. I beg you stay away

I would definitely recommend the Bishops Stortford office, the whole team were very helpful & professional with what was a complicated sale. Doug Whybrow was extremely helpful & approachable and it was very reassuring to know that he was always available to help me out with any issues that arose. A big thank you to Doug. I also used the services of the lettings department who were all very friendly & helpful. George was particularly helpful and worked very hard on getting the rental all sorted on what was an extremely tight time schedule. It was a real challenge for him but he did it! Everybody that I had dealings with were very friendly & professional.
