Extraordinary

Well, dealt with two letting agents before. Martin and co was literally the smoothest among them. Mr Scott Haddock provided extraordinary viewing experience and was an absolute gentleman in allowing the lady to view it first + take the mandatory covid precautions to the maximum.

Deep gratitude to Scott Haddock !

Almost 2 years after continuously reporting the leak in my ensuite shower which encouraged the water to travel into my second bedroom and subsequently hallway, the issues FINALLY got put to right last week thanks to SCOTT HADDOCK at the Jewellery Quarter branch.Just when I began the process of searching for an alternative accommodation and spoke to few other estate agencies that were recommended by my nextdoor neighbours as I had lost complete faith in Management at Martin and Co, I was lucky enough to come across Scott Haddock whom although does not work at the relevant department, showed far more empathy towards my frustration than I had met over the past two years of communicating and pleading for the problems to be remedied with the relevant parties at the Harborne branch. Although I had my doubts and very little hope that I will come to a positive resolution with the team, I still relaid the case to Scott and hoped for the best. He made it very clear that although he empathised, he couldn't promise me success as that wasn't his department HOWEVER, he'll try his best to help chase the repairs for me. *SIGH* It felt incredibly good to FINALLY feel that someone atleast cared about my welfare as a tenant and substantially understood their duty of care owed to not only their Landlords but also towards their tenants. Literally within a very short period of liaising with Scott, the problems got rectified.I cannot believe that I am finally able to use my amenities as intended but most importantly, having the freedom to no longer breath in the toxic particles of mold is a luxury I paid for but was denied up until recently. As one can appreciate , paying £950 per calendar month for what was advertised as " A Luxury Apartment" , you just don't want or have to deal with the acute emotions of defeat that comes along with chasing Estate Agents to fullfil their contractual obligations towards their tenants.Being severely asthmatic which was communicated to Management and having to deal with the intense stench of mold for such an unreasonable rate of time was ever so taxing. I stopped using my second bedroom which was initially my home office for almost one year and the same applied to the ensuite bathroom as they were both unfit for purpose.Scott truly is GOD SENT and Martin and Co could definitely do with his kind in every branch. He definitely takes his job very seriously and goes that extra mile to ensure the tenants health and safety . What certain Agents fail to realise is, ignoring their faithful and loyal tenant's well-being will only make recommending their Agencies to prospective customers impossible. I had to warn many of my colleagues and friends against renting with them because I do not wish my struggles upon anyone. Also , it is useful to remember that today's tenant is tomorrow's landlord and keeping a good and appropriate rapport is ever so important and I genuinely believe Scott recognises this element of Agent and Tenant relationship.Because of him my faith in Martin and Co has been restored. He truly is an incredible asset to this corporation and I hope it's acknowledged internally as well.Kind regards, Amie Jobe

George Hayfield

My dealings generally with Martin and Co have been to a very high standard. Unfortunately, due to some complications, my case was not entirely straight forward and as such was referred to George Hayfield to oversee. I am forever grateful to him and all his hard work in securing the property in question, on time as promised. To say that he went above and beyond would not do justice!I whole heartedly recommend the services of this company, and in particular those of George Hayfield. He is polite, professional and extremely pro active in his approach to my enquiries. An absolute diamond in the industry!

Ashley Would (Director) is a joy

Ashley Would (Director) is a joy to work with. He manages a portfolio on our behalf and I have full confidence that between Ashley and his Team, our properties are in safe and capable hands. Issues (inevitable in any property management setting) are resolved swiftly, with the branch keeping us in the loop at all times. Ashley has also been really helpful at helping to identify some additional opportunities to add to our existing portfolio. Thanks to all at Martin & Co - long may it continue.

5* estate agent in Birmingham

I was recently searching a flat in Birmingham city. I was shown some properties by Mr Noah Aribi who is a sales agent at Martin & Co. in Birmingham. He was very knowledgeable, polite and respectfulHe helped me understand the local market trends and available investment opportunities. He helped me through the buying process, keeping me well informed. Though I ended up buying a different property then he had arranged ,he displayed professional understanding and instead of getting annoyed ,introduced me to his colleague to help me manage the property.

Felt like I was a burden...

Don’t often leave reviews but given my experience back in June thought it might help to give feedback.I recently moved into the JQ area and when viewing flats with Martin & Co I honestly felt like a burden to them. I won’t name the person themselves as it’s unfair on a public site but she had very little enthusiasm showing me properties, turned up to appointments late and unhelpful over the phone. Said I had “already looked at some properties with us and so no point in showing you others as you won’t like them and we have a limit per client” - these were unoccupied properties as during the COVID era so I can’t see any other reason bar laziness. Ironically I took a flat I wanted to view with them via another agency in the end! From word of mouth of my current residents this seems to be a common theme and I wonder if there’s a bit of poor service culture running through their office. Hopefully they take on this sort of feedback and use it to improve - it really makes a difference when you make a customer feel like you’re listening.

don't make the mistake we did to go with martin and Co! We fell for some of the good reviews (which I now believe is not real). Don't fall for the best real estate of the year awards. We had the worst experience with them.

I have let two properties through Martin and Co. and my experience with them has been appalling. A truly shoddy service even though they happily take your money. As far as property management goes, Throughout the time I let through them, there were never any inspections of my property or at least they never submitted any reports of inspections. Inevitably, properties were not kept in a good state by tenants and I was saddled with the costs of fixing at the end of the tenancy if I wanted my properties to be let out again. I have had confusion with their agents signing leases for an amount less than I had agreed to, had tenants make material alterations without consent, consistent late payments and Martin & Co chose not to do much about it leaving me to deal with it myself. At the end of tenancies, they are by far the worst when it comes to helping you recover costs from the DPS. I recovered not a pence of my costs and was not even informed of the outcomes until months after when I had asked. I have NEVER encountered this with another letting agent. In a sale of my property, they acted in the interest of the buyer and to my detriment even though I was the one paying their commission and to whom they were obligated in terms of a contract. If you are a landlord and require a management agent, know that they are not responsive, do very little in terms management and happily take your 10% fee. If you are selling with them, know that they do not necessarily act in your interest even though you pay them a commission. Essentially if you are happy to pay in terms of a service contract and get no service then use them. On a final note, the owner is most unprofessional and raises personal issues which have no relevance to a legal service contract in terms of which him and his staff have failed to deliver properly and have delivered a sub-standard service for which he was actually paid. It is shocking that an owner of an estate agent would stoop so low and be so unprofessional. Avoid them if you are selling or looking for a management agent. Once they secure a rental or sale, you can look forward to little or no response and they certainly don’t act in your interest especially if you are selling your house. Read their contracts very carefully; they hold you liable to pay their commission even if you pull out before exchange of contracts. They found me the most difficult buyers who raised hundreds of queries over a period of nearly ten months and tried every tactic to lower an agreed price as per Memo of Sale and Contract of Sale. Martin & Co. held me to ransom telling me if I pulled out and tried to find another buyer I would still be liable to pay their commission.
