GoogleNot the best housing agency to go with in Selly Oak from my experience. They are quite unfriendly and inconsiderate about people's situation and not willing to compromise and be flexible. I stayed in Douper Halls over the summer which was under Direct Housing and I was quite lonely and depressed over a period of 2 months. Therefore, I had guests which included friends and family visit me every now and then to give me company. The wardens got quite petty about that issue and started accusing me of having those guests stay overnight with me without any proof. I felt this was highly unfair as one of my flatmates had her boyfriend live in with her for at least a month since she moved in. Further to this I requested the agency if I could move out of my accommodation on 8th September as I had few things planned on 6th and 7th September in Birmingham since the start of August. Initially they said it would be fine. However, a week before moving out they were highly persisting that I cannot move out on the 8th September, and have to choose between 7th and 9th September to move out. I explained to them that I had no one to help me move out with all my stuff on those dates and also about the fact that I had things planned. But as usual they were quite rude, inconsiderate and adamant regarding the situation and left me with no choice but to move out on their suggested dates. Further to this, one week prior to moving out they told me I would have to change rooms within the same flat. However, they knocked on my door on a Sunday morning at 9 am (which was quite rude to be honest) asking me to move out all my stuff into another room within the same flat within 2 hours. I found that quite stupid and pointless as no one had moved into the room I vacated during that week.

Any issues that I had in my flat were sorted immediately and my calls were always answered and everyone was always so accommodating. They even went as far as helping me when I couldn’t leave my flat due to Covid. I could not have asked for a better agency to have been with. Would highly recommend them.PositiveQuality

Hello Helen, I have looked into the background of this and see that you/George Michael arranged to view a property but did not turn up to the appointment. Four other people did turn up, and all were interested in taking the property. During a later phone conversation with a member of staff you were again invited to apply but did not complete an application form. GoogleHaving been with 3 letting agents whilst living in Selly Oak, I have say without hesitation that Direct Housing have been the best. They are honest, fair and prompt. The issues that we had with the house were sorted immediately and all interactions that we had with the staff has been exceptional. It's been really nice to finally find a letting agent that is not just trying to rip students off but actually provide an excellent service which makes our otherwise stressful lives easier.

GoogleI'm a previous tenant of a property managed by Direct Housing and I cannot recommend them enough! I had an excellent experience throughout my tenancy, all of the ladies and maintenance staff I dealt with from Direct Housing were always so helpful and approachable and always responded to any maintenance or other issues quickly, and any problems were dealt with efficiently and effectively, for instance, I forgot to cancel my standing order for rent and was charged for an extra month, this was sorted out and I was refunded within a day. We had no problems with deposit return either having just been refunded in full, only 4 days after we left the property! We had a fantastic experience and I'd recommend anyone to use Direct Housing when renting or buying a property! Thank you so much!!

GoogleI’ve private rented properties for years, and I have to say that direct housing are by far the most competent. Each member of staff are not only friendly and put you at ease, but very professional also. Highly recommended for renting, and I’d imagine selling properties also.

GoogleIt is not usually easy to find a housing agent who is totally compassionate to your course. I found one in them. They were very understanding, patient (well….to a good extent) and fair. Sometimes I had to push but this is more or less general with life.

GoogleFor all these over three years that I have been a tenant with Direct Housing, it has been a smooth, cordial and enjoyable experience. The staff are very professional, listening and quick to respond in terms of repairs, requests for replacements, deposit refund and timely replies to emails and other media of communication. When coming with a prospective tenant to view a house, they always send advance notice to the tenants. This scores them high on the professional front and respect for the privacy of tenants. They take health and safety as a top priority, always checking the alarm on a weekly basis and conducting routine checks and visits. Claire, Kiran, Naomi, Mellisa and the entire team are amazing people. They have good and friendly customer service, and are able to work and patiently manage the heavy traffic of tenants they have even during busy and high peak letting seasons which is why they are the housing agency of choice in Selly Oak, Selly Park, Bournbrook, Bournville, Edgbaston, Harborne, Northfield and the greater part of south Birmingham. Anyone wishing to do business with Direct Housing will not operate at a loss. My experience and those of many of my friends and contemporaries attest to this fact.

GoogleAs a long time client, I can thoroughly recommend Direct Housing as a letting agency. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient and always find time to discuss any queries/issues, etc. Time spent filling in paperwork is kept to a minimum thanks to their professional business attitude - documents are always ready and waiting to be signed, there is no waiting around. This is essential if - like me - you have a hatred of all things bureaucratic. The general atmosphere in the office is always welcoming and warming, it's a bit like popping in to see those friends of yours you only see once or twice a year. Professional, efficient and friendly - that's why I'm a long term client. If you're looking for a company you can put your trust in and know it's not misplaced, this is the one.

GoogleWe have just had an issue with over-payments on our son's rental - due to his error, not an error on the part of Direct Housing! We phoned to get this resolved and the service has been very courteous, prompt and all round of a high standard. The issue was dealt with within one day, and we DID get the call back that we'd asked for to confirm that all had been resolved - which is very rare these days!

GoogleIn first year, the accommodation my uni had left to offer me were all to far away from campus or to expensive. Fortunately direct housing was able to find me a nice and affordable accommodation a few minutes from uni. They are also quick to respond to your queries, if you consistently communicate with them. They want the best living situation for students. I have developed a good relationship with both Kiran and Clare, who have been patient and sympathetic towards my circumstances. If you need anything, please talk to Kiran Sidhu, she is good at suggesting the best accommodation for you and friends. They are very friendly but professional at the same time.
