I was with Direct Housing for one year - my second year at university. I can honestly say that they ruined that year of university. We went without heating for three months over Winter, which they ended up blaming us for, no less. Mould issues took nearly the full year to sort out, and the tumble-dryer we were promised took ten months to arrive. Four months of the ten were before our contract even began, therefore they had four months to arrange for its arrival even before the inception of our contract with them. In the end, my university actually suggested legal action would be appropriate. Dismayed with everything I had already been through, and knowing that I had another university year in which any legal pursuit would occur, I decided not to pursue the case. However, I implore any prospective tenants to stay away. They can, and will take advantage. I very much hope any tenants reading this find a good agency if they are intending to live in the Selly Oak area, sadly Direct Housing does not fit that bill.

The WORST estate agents I have ever come across. I strongly advise nobody ever works with them. One word - CONMEN. If it was an option, I wouldn't even give them no stars. Accommodation - filthy, disgusting, vile, smells, dirty, filled with rubbish, not even fit for a rat. Service - TERRIBLE. They literally make my blood boil. Staff - patronising, two-faced, ridiculous, rude, thieves, conmen Advice - AVOID. "What goes around comes around" - I have never wanted this to be more true in my life. I hope they get what they deserve for the HELL they put me through.

They are all lovely and I would 100% recommend them - they are definitely the best in Selly Oak. We received our deposits back speedily and there was so much less hassle than with other agents. Would never use these conwomen again. We moved out of our flat rented via Direct Housing on the date that our letting agreement expired, which happened to be a bank holiday (new year's day). Direct Housing were not open on the day so we couldn't drop the keys off that day. We asked them when we should drop them off - they said to drop them off the next working day. Yet when we did as they instructed, they claimed that we took the keys back a day late and that we had to pay an extra day's rent. They said we should have posted them through the letterbox on the bank holiday - yet if we had, we would have had no record of us doing so. They took the day's rent out of our deposit and we really should have taken them to the small claims court for this, but we got our money back after demanding it back in person. Do not use this company- they will screw you over in any way they can.

Policies are very strange and very concerned that giving information around passports and bank statements could be a breach of privacy. Dissapointed to pay the deposit first without signing a contract and frustrated by the slow communications. Though, some representatives such as Maddy Coley have been helpful in renting a place.
