Dargavel Primary School is being delivered by Robertson Construction for BAE Systems who in turn are delivering for Renfrewshire Council.Robertson Homes and Robertson Construction have no contractual links. Robertson Homes has no obligation in the delivery of the new school.Robertson Construction has released the following statement.A spokesperson for Robertson said:“We have been working with our customer BAE Systems to deliver the new Dargavel Primary School for Renfrewshire Council. “Many of the local community have expressed frustration at the building not being available for the new school term in August and while we understand their frustration, we remain committed to delivering a high-quality school for the community.“The start of the project was delayed as a result of the March 2020 lock down instructed by government to protect the community and workforce from COVID. Since starting the project, we have been complying with stringent safe operating procedures which are in place to protect both the workforce and the community. This has resulted in a reduction of the number of people who can be on-site at any one time. Safety is our number one priority and as a result we cannot and will not compromise the health and wellbeing of our workforce or the communities we work in. “Due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic and the effect that this has had on our industry, coupled with our priority to keep the communities where we work and our workforce safe the school will not be handed over in August. “We appreciate the frustration of the local community and would like to assure them that we share their desire for a high-quality school which will enhance attainment and benefit the local community for years to come.“The date for opening the new Dargavel Primary School will be announced shortly.”ENDS

2 and a half years in there are still outstanding battles going on!NHBC were contacted by myself to double check the defects and snagging on the property in which they did, the list and a time scale of 3 months was then sent to Robertson for them to complete the work. The work was half completed again involving calls to people, workmen not turning up and the usual excuses from Robertson as to why these items were not addressed.Incidentally the snagging manager turned up with NHBC to inspect the work needing done, yet when you try to get someone out to look at the property and an issue they are not interested. He was asked politely to leave.NHBC were contacted once the deadline had passed and they paid out compensation for me to address the outstanding issues. While not ideal and having to chase my own workmen at least i can now get these items resolved.Along with this the consumer code were contacted regarding Robertsons lack of complaints policy and the lack of customer service. The adjudicator reviewed the case and agreed that Robertson didnt reply to complaints. This is still ongoing as Robertson fail to reply to them despite having a link to the consumer code on their site! Once robertson have your money its a battle to get your house to a standard it should have been in the first place! if you have issues with these builders send them letters of complaint and then raise the items with NHBC. Failure to respond to complaints you can then take this to the consumer code for a decision from them.

Pursued a specific house and plot at Calderwood site from 5 months prior to release date. Due to concerns regarding completeness of information being provided to us we proceeded to record correspondence. Despite this the house was given away pre-release on an Early Bird Basis 4 months after our initial interest. Despite asking the sales executive specifically about opportunities to reserve pre-release we were repeatedly told this was not possible and then subsequently told (once it been passed to others) by the same person it was an option 4 months earlier and thus completely obstructing our ability to reserve this plot.We raised the issue and evidenced our accusation with emails yet the root cause of our complaint has been completely ignored. RH repeatedly refer to the training and measures in place to prevent this type of thing happening meaning that it didn't happen but we've the emails to prove that it did.Whilst ultimately this issue has arisen as a consequence of the actions of an individual employee, the reaction of the senior team has been appalling and zero responsibility. No responsibility has been taken for a situation entirely of their teams creating and with significant financial consequences to a prospective customer (i.e. a further £40-50k to buy the next plot of the same house type), and begs the question why is it ok to treat customers in this way?

This will trigger the usual generic contact us reply but guess what I have been trying for 2 years to contact you if you have money do not buy a property from this cowboy builder it will ruin your health and your life!! Once they take your money they move on the customer service is an absolute joke!!

However they make it clear on their own website they are the same (Robertson group brochure)Robertson are currently building a largeNumber of houses in Dargavel village, have the resources, manpower and materials to throw up properties. Fast turn around, quicker revenue.A few hundred yards away they are building a school for the families they are taking money from. Amazingly they do not have the resources, manpower or materials for this project. They are moving families into an area where the children are being crammed into temporary accommodation within another school as they choose to deploy resources to home building. Unethical, greedy and unacceptable.

Reserved a Wynyard house many many months ago in 2020. We chose the house based on when it would be ready to move as we wished to use help to buy (HTB) scheme which was soon coming to an end.Issue 1 - Builder running short of windows - so couldn't get a CML certificate in time - so we were informed we would now not be able to use the HTB scheme we initially wished to use saddling us with bigger mortgage. Importantly Robertson advised they'd still complete the house to original deadline though. We had to obtain another Mortgage as a result.Issue 2 - Soon after Robertson now informed us their builder was in fact running behind and it'd now be a month later than planned so they could finish properly, not rush and do a proper job. House readiness date moved back 4wks.Issue 3 - Just days before the rescheduled readiness date Robertson rang to inform us someone had forgotten to paint the house in the colour we'd chosen. Another 2-4wks delay to paint the right colour and address some snagging.Issue 4 - via their Robertson informed us via their solicitor they'll be pulling incentives previously agreed unless we exchanged ASAP (quoting that we were made aware they have the right to do so as it's in our customer journey pack and on our reservation paperwork) - granted it is but to us seemed very aggressive tactic from house builder.Sale fell through.Genuinely in this person's view the house builder does not meet deadlines agreed and now devastated we're forced to look elsewhere for our dream house.Ps do read all the reviews below from other Wynyard purchasers / other developments.Pps after reading some of the other house purchasers issues below on this page and in social media we also agreed with Robertson’s for our own appointed Quantity Surveyor to go in to look round the house and write a report before we considered exchanging. Perhaps something you might want to do also.
