Do Not Buy - Look elsewhere

DO NOT fall for their sales approach and early bird offering which sounds good - In reality it is a big TRAP so PLEASE buy from another reputed builder. We are only TWO months into our new house and once they have our money everything turned upside down! And we are not alone and people in the entire street regret buying from them!!PLEASE READ (if you happen to be unlucky and waiting for completion) --- they will try to convince you to handover the keys without a demo so they can hide their poor/unfinished/incorrect work!! - Demo is must and please carefully check your extras and finishings before you send your money to them.I am surprised they are still in business, they are a cowboy builder never mind 5 star.My friends have recently bought from Bellway/Cala/Miller and they are 10x times happy! with after sales.

We are buying a property at St Margaret’s in Roslynlee and the process and care given to us has been outstanding. Diane and Joyce have looked after us so well, nothing is a hassle. Met Russell the site manager on Wednesday and as we haven’t seen the house type inside since we went to Hamilton to see the show home months ago… he let us have a peek.. which was magic as it makes it feel real again! Met some of the on-site workers who are also so nice. 2nd time buying a new property, 1st time with Robertsons, and this experience is way better than last. Thanks all… 7 weeks to go!!

Non-Existent Aftercare

Whilst Robertsons have built a beautiful home, they are seemingly unable or unwilling to complete any snagging issues. We have been in the property almost eight months now and despite constant requests for work to be done they have failed to provide a timeline for when these will be completed. When contractors do arrive, they are ill prepared (due to no fault of their own) for the tasks asked of them as communication with Robertsons is so poor. For example the window company who arrived to remove a cathedral style window three weeks before Christmas in cold and wet conditions without any prior discussion. This is an issue which had been brought up in the summer as needing emergency support due to a leak.I am now going through the NHBC procedure in order to attempt to get some of the works completed, however this is proving difficult when I cannot get through to the customer "care" team nor get a response from anybody in said department. Whilst a home like this may seem desirable, the aftercare experience simply isn't worth it. Would not recommend anyone buy a home from this company.

Unrivalled Experience

During the process of buying our house, Linda and the team at Dargavel Village have been superb. With an unrivalled level of personability coupled with a full and comprehensive understanding of their product, the Dargavel Team have truly embellished the positives of buying a new home and we cannot wait to move in later on in the year!

Worst Customer service I have ever experienced.

Issue with sand mastic around windows at Great Glen Hall development in Inverness. Acknowledged by Robertson Homes over 2 years ago who accepted responsibility and agreed to put right. Absolutely liars, false promises and deliver nothing . Missed deadlines, never return your calls, Robertson managers Michelle ( supposedly customer service manager ) utterly useless, same as Jeannie (CEO PA) hopeless and don't care about any form of issue with your property or you as a Robertson customer. Be very wary of buying a Robertson home and if you do and something goes wrong with your property and it will you can forget about any form of support or help from there customer service team especially the two individuals that I have mentioned.

Lol please don’t waste your money

Lol, Robertson homes answer every positive comment but ignore every negative one, just about sums them up!! Their homes are a disgrace much like their customer care. I have giving them 5 stars to see if they reply to my comment, as my last 3 they got removed as they were too negative 😂. Their is no way in my opinion that all the 5 star ratings are genuine

UPDATED November 30th 2021 7 months after moving in, and a month after 2 Directors came to visit and promised everything would be fixed, we still have a broken central heating system, no hot water/heating every few days, pipes that spin, foul odors from radiators, broken/faulty pressure vales. We have missing broken vents on windows that allow wind to blow into the home. All three open/tilt windows at the front of the hose are bowed, and have gaps down each side between hinges, they all allow a "gale" to blow in and at least one of them allows rain water to come into the house. Toilets that are incorrectly fit, toilets with sticking/broken fittings. Toilets that do not flush. The front door is not water tight and rain comes into the hall. Stairs crack and move when you walk on them. Walls cracked and broken, including some for the second time after already being repaired. Gutters and drains not correctly fit, causing rain water to pour down the house that has stained the walls and rendering. There is now a local residents group, I am not surprised to know there ate MANY other families who have the same or WORSE issues that have not been resolved after 9 months. Multiple families now contacting NHBC. On Trust Pilot, a massive 52% of all reviews for this company are ONE STAR. It seems that the 42% who gave 5 stars (as I did) where for the sales experience prior to or just at move in. However once you are in a home, you have little or no hope of getting any repairs made. Robertsons do not reply or respond to emails, their contractors flat out LIE and say they have been to repair issues when they have not. The so called 5 star reviews for this development do not appear to be from real Robertsons home owners on this development, and appear to have been placed by contractors, friends and family or paid reviews. DO NOT BUY A ROBERTSONS HOME ON THE WYNYARD DEVELOPMENT

To date, nothing has been an issue and houses are selling fast, very desirable place to live. House types are stunning, and many aspects included in the sale which offer added luxury.

Do not buy from Robertsons under any circumstances

We bought this house because of the floor plan, the pre-build 'garden room' extension, the promise of minimal snags and need to deal with. - We were lied to on the point of sale about features and functions of the white goods.- The morning after we exchanged contracts committing to purchase, a Saturday morning, they conveniently informed us that they'd used the wrong brick and would need to rebuild the external skin from scratch, incurring significant delays. We should have noticed the warning. - We were miss-sold upgrades: different products on order sheets, different items installed, significant attempts to convince us the installed items were the correct ones, even though they were inadequately installed. Can you imagine a hob falling through a worktop because it was held by friction in place, not by being seated in line with the manufacturer's recommendations? They tried to convince us this was fine! They even installed the hob against manufacturer's recommendations with inadequate ventilation and tried to convince us this was fine.- The house was not cleaned when we moved in to conceal all sorts of atrocious damage and poor finish; from severely scuffed plastics throughout (still not replaced two years on), to cracked glass panes, to damaged/poorly installed kitchen worktops, to gouged shower trays, to cracked tilework with no grouting, or grouting falling off, or sealant in the showers/bathrooms. - On moving in the garage door would not shut/lock. Nobody could bother fixing it for a day. The house intrusion alarm was not working either- and didn't get sorted for weeks. - The CO alarm in the garage was never installed. Instead, a standard fire alarm was there. We queried this, and they told us it was a CO alarm. When we had an (inevitable?) leak from the heating system that shorted the garage fire alarm, the electrician stated this was the wrong alarm and installed the correct one. - There were no post sale meetings as per promise upon completion. We didn't even get our meter readings when moving in. - Half the heating system was left stuck on, to make the house warm (27oC peak temperature) to make it look like its well insulated. Queue a £500 energy bill for our first 3 months as a "welcome gift"- and that was before the gas prices soared.- Speaking of energy bills; the house is a wind tunnel because of drafts from window frames, front doors, door frames, bowed internal doors. - Our patio door frame was missing a 3 inch chunk of plastic that had been broken out during installation. Conveniently concealed with plastic trim, it nonetheless let wind through. Discovered when they remove the trim to fix severely bowing headers. Oops. - Have you ever experienced draughts from the window frame to the reveal or from the skirting board to a ground floor external wall? Buy a Robertson Home! We were promised they will rectify this, in writing, 13 months ago. - When fixing the poorly installed downlighters, insulation from the garden room roof escaped into the room and lounge, and the workmen didn't properly contain and clean it up. Both myself and our toddler had substantial skin reactions to it. - We had no running cold water in the kitchen for NINE MONTHS because they took their time to replace the upgraded tap with a properly working one. - Have you ever had 400 ml of water come through permanently shut double glazing when it rains? Buy a Robertson Home! Your front door will leak water (and lots of wind too), your windows will leak water too. - We were left to live in a house, a quarter of which was rendered unusable because of sewage fumes, because they didn't install soil venting piping appropriately. - They literally left a toilet bowl on our landing for weeks, with the sewage pipe exposed for us to breathe fumes from.- They tried to convince us that the garage floor is meant to be pitted, and when we protested, they tried to fix it. They failed, FIVE TIMES, which included an attempt to convince us that the flooring compound coming off like mud when being washed was because the garage floor, apparently, is not meant to be washed. - Our rear garden had "been cleared of detritus to make it safe for our toddler". There were 3 inch nails sticking out of fencing, there were torn, sharp pieces of metal sticking out of the ground, nails, broken tiles, broken glass, broken pipework. It took us days of clearing it before it was safe to use. - They constantly delete snags/mark as actioned- without doing ANYTHING. Thank you for reading this far. If you are tutting and "oh my God"ing away, consider this: we had near 400 snags in our house. Two years later, we are still get promises of things to be done, but nothing has been actually fixed in the last 4 months. Our health is impacted, our family life is impacted, our work is damaged. Dont buy Robertson Homes

Gillian at the Shawfair site is just so knowledgeable and helpful, and a genuinely lovely person. Scott, the site manager also took an hour out of his busy day to reassure me about the quality of his houses and to show me around one that had just been finished. I was really impressed with the houses compared to other developers.

Robertson homes (Allans Furniture)

This is not a review of Robertson Homes per say but I feel that have to warn people of my experience with a company that they recommend to potential customers so that it may save them any issues in the future. If you do purchase a Robertsons Home, as I have done, and they recommend Allans Furniture to floor your home please, please stay away from them and find your own flooring company, for my reasons please read my review on Allans Furniture on Trustpilot, they are a company that has done nothing but given me grief and lied to me from day 1, as i have said before Robertson Homes are aware of my issues but I believe they are still recommending them to customers so please be warned, now having to go through having to employ another flooring company at my cost to complete and having to take Allans to small claims court, grief I don't need......

Unbelievable

We have been waiting almost 5 years for outstanding issues to be completed and still ongoing. PThe last 12 months have been a waste of time due to sub contractor groundworker incompetence and lies. After responding to Robertson made up stories, there has been no reply from the MD, D. Stott, or customer care. It is a pity the customer can not be supported as much as their sub contractors.

People in dargavel need to relax

People in dargavel need to relax, the school is delayed by 6 weeks just like some people homes and I don't see protests getting held about this. Most schools are letting the kids attend until the school is built.Dargavel is a beautiful village but many people are vile who live here. Wanting to hold protests so council houses don't get built and now due to the school being delayed, we all just probably faced toughest year of our lives, lost homes, jobs, people we care about. Let's just take a step back and try work together on what we can do, rather than these silly protests when outcome won't be any different.

Not a single reply or contact.UPDATE: Had the response below asking me to email my details including house plot and site... 5 weeks on from this and still nothing, not even a response to say the email was received after chasing again. Also still being ignored by customer service and senior management.A service that promises the world and delivers very little. Sales staff excellent, but once you are in and paid they don’t care about customer experience or the state of snagging. A year in and the experience has been a joke.

Robertsons customer service is zero

Robertsons customer service is zero. They only deserve several stars for their design. Zero for customer service. This is for 2023 since December 2021.I have been in my Robertsons home for approximately 14 months. Despite repeated requests for snagging to be carried out, the response is either - they ignore the emails, or we are looking into it - 14months on ? Really!! Waiting for the ok from last November for some work that has been on the list repeatedly since day 1.I was recently informed that because I did not report faulty workmanship within 48 hours, it is no longer Robertsons fault. This particular issue is, extremely scratched windows - which Robertsons obviously thought they could get away with - eventually they had workmen buffer out many of my windows. However, I did not see on a wet dark afternoon, that a large opaque area in the centre of the glass in a downstairs room has remained.Robertsons have had repeated emails from me, copied to Directors about all of my snagging work including this and no responses are received. I could list the number of times I have resent these emails, but won't waste my time. Maybe they mean 480 hours, days or even possibly years. What a shame I cannot post a picture on here, I doubt if any of the Directors or customer care staff would accept this opacity.Urgent on emails rarely has any response either!!If the Directors will not take responsibility then this just whittles down to their staff too - all in denial.

Top builder for new homes

We bought our first property in Scotland, after moving from England, through Robertson homes and what a great experience it has been. Three things stand out: location, build quality and customer service. The initial purchase process though Diane at the Thorn View site was detailed and clear. Diane had excellent attention to detail and communication skills. After handover, all snagging issues were rectified in a timely manner and with care. We had also agreed a minor alteration to the garden which was slightly off the plan we were initially shown and Robertson homes were prompt at dealing with this. Stewart (site manager) has been exceptional and is my favourite person to invite over for a cup of tea and chat about things. Overall we knew we were spending a lot of money purchasing the property in a prime location but we feel Robertson homes has made it all worth it. I would recommend them highly.

Avoid! Disgraceful quality and customer care

We strongly caution against buying a Robertson Home. We completed about 12 months ago and still have an entire kitchen to be replaced with no end in sight. Absolutely everything (big and small) has to be proactively chased by home owners and the customer care team - including those who manage this team - are incompetent and are letting the business down badly. Based on our observations over the last 12 months, our assessment is that: 1. Site management failed to instruct contractors and suppliers to rectify defects that were obvious prior to the completion date (minor snags are accepted, however pages and pages of issues are not). 2. Robertson are at the mercy of its contractors and suppliers who act as though the tail wags the dog when booking jobs. This is made worse by the fact that Robertson "step out" of the communication loop once they have handed the snag to the contractor or supplier despite our contract to purchase the house being with Robertson and not contractor or supplier.Robertsons' kitchen supplier - Ashley Ann - have been particularly disgraceful. Over the past 12 months, they have removed almost every door in our kitchen in order to replace these with the correct colour and remove deep scratches. On each occasion, they have returned to our house with the wrong style, size and/or wrong colour. As the doors apparently take 12 weeks to manufacture (hand paint), the delays to rectify these issues are huge and still ongoing. To make matters worse, Ashley Ann's level of communication is on par with Robertsons' and they don't bother to confirm whenever there has been a production issue or some other delay. They have no shame in telling you an approximate delivery date and then exceeding this by over a month without any prior warning or explanation. Despite complaining of this to Robertson, they have failed to make any impact with their supplier to improve performance and expedite the remedial work.3. The customer care team for Scotland West are not technically qualified. They are booking work with contractors but do not know how to sequence or plan remedial works that require more than one trade. This results in wasted time whenever, for example, a trade attends when he is not yet needed or he does not appear when is.My husband and I have over 45 years' combined experience in the construction sector (both residential and major commercial projects) and have purchased new build homes in the past. Our experience with Robertson as a residential house builder is, by far, the worst in terms of quality and after care - the latter being non-existent.UPDATE: Robertson and Ashley Ann have still to complete our snag list (23 Jan 2023). The 2 year snag period will lapse in April 2023. When sending emails, the auto reply says they aim to reply within 48 hours. In reality, several weeks pass each time. Utter rubbish! Buyer beware.

Avoid!

After chasing Robertson Homes many times during my two year moving period, they have still not corrected our snag list. Time after time, we have been palmed off saying that their contractors would be in touch, months later and we still haven't heard a thing. These are by no means, small snags, this is anything from a hole in the roof, to a floor beam coming through the staircase wall! From a company that wishes to be a five star company, I would expect a lot more and not to be passed from pillar to post or simply just left.EDIT: Thank you for your reply. Sadly, we have emailed this address before back in October and no reply was received, which we find rude and unacceptable. However, we shall try one more time then seek further action if this is not resolved. All of our snags were reported within our 2 year settling period, yet we have lived here nearly 3 years. We know snags are part and parcel of a new build but it's extremely frustrating it has taken us to post publicly to receive a reply from Robertson's.
