Poor quality build and appalling after service.

I can honestly say that I would never purchase a Robertson's House ever again. This was our first home and as a result we were very naive and probably too trusting of Robertsons. Right from the Day we moved in we have endured and had to overcome, a constant stream of faults and are still, 7 years later, finding faults with almost all aspects of the build. Quality of workmanship, particularly the Plumbing, is almost laughable. If I hadn't seen the state of it for myself I wouldn't have believed it. From what I have discovered it would seem that my Home is largely held together with 'no more nails' and a prayer....Customer service was so bad that we eventually gave up and sorted all the initial issues by ourselves. However, as I said previously, we are still regularly discovering issues. By way of an example, we have recently extended our home. During the build we were shown a catalogue of faults dating from the initial build. The tradesman was actually laughing at the standard of the work! In summary, unless you wish to own a cold, leaky and labour intensive home. I would look at other builders.

Excellent Journey start to finish!

The experience we have had throughout our journey with Robertson homes from first contact to exchange has been nothing short of amazing. From our first contact Diane has been fantastic. Not only has essential communication and information sharing been great, she has also ensured it has felt personal and been so supportive within our journey. The site team have also been amazing, Robert has been available to answer any questions and queries and kept us up to date with everything. Our move in was the smoothest move we have experienced and any issues were dealt with really quickly and in line with restrictions currentlyIn place. As one of the earlier houses in this part of the development there are still building works around us, however we have been so impressed with how this is managed and the consideration given to those already in their homes, I actually think I’llMiss it when it’s finished! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Robertson homes to anyone considering a new build purchase. The customer care, selection choices and finishes have been great and our whole experience has been so positive and felt completely personal to us not just the same as everyone else which we recognise will have been even tougher with the current situation and restrictions in place.Thank you so much to everyone at Robertson Homes from our whole family, we are delighted to be in our beautiful home to start our next chapter.

5* service at Bowes Manor

My wife and I are in the process of buying our forever home at Bowes Manor. Buying a home can be one of the most stressful times in your life, however we have nothing but positivity to say about our experience with Marie at Robertson Homes. From the outset Marie has gone above and beyond, she is very informative, answers any queries with expedience and endeavours to provide the best service possible. Marie has made the purchasing of our forever home become a reality, she is an absolute credit to Robertson Homes. Furthermore I would like to mention Chris, the site manager. We had our meeting with Chris a couple of weeks ago, he went through the plans and drawings of our property in detail. Chris also took our personal needs into consideration and has kindly adapted the fencing to ensure complete enclosure of the rear garden making it dog friendly. We cannot thank Marie and Chris enough, we looking forward to moving into our new home in a few weeks time

Awful experience

Awful experience with Robertson’s. After months of delays to the completion date, I moved in just at the start of the first lockdown. Some of the work on the house had not even been completed when I moved in. My snagging list was huge but, understandably, this was put on hold. Communication about this on resumption of services was poor. Contractors didn’t turn up to appointments. There was a considerable turnover of contractors. Much of the snagging work has been poor or non-existent - the site manager has marked things as completed when they haven’t been addressed at all. I’ve had to spend hours on the phone to various contractors sorting appointments etc myself. My neighbours have had the same experiences, being fobbed off with constant excuses and, at times, rude responses. The wardrobe interiors offered to me were not actually compatible with the size of wardrobes in the house, and customer service has done nothing about this nearly a year on. I’ve reported broken roof tiles, and nothing has been done. Having been at home for large parts of the year with kids at home, I and my neighbours have complained multiple times about the foul language of the contractors on site being shouted at volume all day long. Overall, there’s a feel of cost-cutting and lack of care throughout, but it’s the ‘we”ll take your money then leave you to deal with the poor quality yourself’ attitude that is the worst. This was the first time I’ve bought a new build home, and I’m appalled if this is a normal experience.

Excellent service at Calderwood

We have had an excellent experience with Robertson Homes at Almondell Calderwood from start to finish. House was ready ahead of schedule and completed to a very high standard. The few minor snagging points were dealt with very quickly by Greg & Stewart and the team couldn’t be more helpful. Great experience!

Been in my house a few months now and nothing to report. Minor leak at washing machine pipe work was resolved quickly by site manager Chris, who check regularly if all ok. Marie was excellent and sad that she’s left! Site is still in build progress and I guess once started again I’ll see the impact. But can’t fault Chris and Marie, excellent customer support. Could not care less company

When lock down came due to covid we were hounded by Robertson for the money. They did not care that we were not allowed to move at that point. Once we got the keys and could get a look at the apartment what a disappointment. The only room that had nothing wrong with it was the spare bedroom and in that room we had to pay for a wardrobe to be installed as it did not come as standard. In the on suite the toilet was not secured down properly there is no shaver socket and when i asked about it was told it is not installed in basic accommodation. In the master bedroom where the bed goes there is only one socket and one on another wall but it is not for the tv as it has one opposite the bed when i asked about this was told it's not on the plans looks like some one has put it on the plans in the wrong place so not getting a socket will probably have to put one in at our own cost. The handle on the bedroom door came of also there was also some cosmetic work in the hall way . In the living room and kitchen area the door leading out to the garden area was covered in cement and we were told this would be cleaned before we moved in but was not also it has taken some paint of the door. There were two holes above the kitchen cupboards. The door closure started pulling the surround panel away . The cupboard doors were not level then they started coming loose and now one has fallen off and a second one is just about falling off the kitchen was installed by Riverside Kitchens of Elgin. Also we had to clean the floor as it was filthy after a few weeks we started to see damp appearing on the wall by the door leading to the garden area it looks as if they had not done an inspection before handing it over. I did a lot of the snagging myself because of covid but the after sales service is slow so i could not in all honesty recommend Robertson Homes as a place to buy. I also forgot the shower in the main bathroom leaked very badly also the internet has not been installed properly.

5 Stars!

We reserved a home with Robertson in the summer due to a relocation from Birmingham to Scotland and we didn’t really have a clue about areas or places to live. Everyone has been so helpful and patient in helping us find the right site and plot and also as we had a few hiccups with our own sale getting delayed. Diane at the St Margaret’s site in particular has been incredibly patient and helpful and you can really tell both sales and the site manager care about the quality of the home they are handing over to you! This will be the 4th new build we’ve bought and by far the best service and house!

Excellent Customer Service

My partner and I are in the process of purchasing a Robertson Home. We went to see the their development at Rosslynlee and instantly fell in love with the area. Since then we have reserved our dream home and plan on moving in March early next year. Throughout the whole process Diane and Darren have been so warm and welcoming but have also been fantastic in giving us regular updates about our house and even helped with picking our flooring. It’s been hugely appreciated and we are very excited to move in the near future.

I've having been trying since the 7th…

I've having been trying since the 7th March to get them to fix my roof tile which crumbed and they said its not covered after two years. I had not lived here two years. Then another one has now crumbled off and still they will not take any responsibility. My partner was ill and I received rude emails about if I don't send photos of other faults they would not fix. He had suspected cancer and was in hospital for goodness sake. They said the house was sound proofed but i can even hear my partner turn in bed in the living room. They said they inspected the roof and there was nothing wrong with it. Well whose roof did you inspect? Now sending all photos and emails to NH BC. Do not ever buy these houses my toilet even flushes green weeds.

Robertson Sales

I recently bought a home from Robertson Homes with Gillian Sosa, We had a great experience with this estate agent from start to finish. She was professional, knowledgeable, and always quick to respond to questions. The whole process was handled smoothly, with clear communication at every stage. I can’t recommend this estate agent highly enough. She was friendly, honest, and genuinely cared about making the process as stress-free as possible.

Talk to Phase 1 Buyers at Wynyard!

I would not trust 'reviews of a showhome' when there are posters in the windows of Phase 1 asking Robertson to fix their houses at Wynyard. There is something very fishy going on here that all of a sudden people are writing to review a show home! Talk to the people who own houses in Phase 1 as I have done, you may think twice on buying!

My experience building with Robertson

I have been building a site cond at the Robertson development in Bloomfield Hills; the project began over a year ago.We have had an exceptionally disappointing experience with these builders and regret our decision to purchase our lot. The communication between the design department and the builder is poor to absent. The design department offers limited choices. The design departments communication with their own venders is poor. The slabs for the kitchen were fabricated in a brushed finish. I have never encountered a brushed finish, let alone ordered one. I was told that the would reorder the correct slabs but I would be given a late fee and would have to pay for the slabs they had mistakenly ordered. I was sent to their vendor to select appliances. I list of appliances was provided to Robertson, including a gas dryer. A gas line was not put in the laundry room. I noticed this oversight, pointer it out and was told, they will put it in, but, I must pay to have it done and an additional late fee. the appliance list was provided to them a year ago. These are just a sample of problems I have encountered. I made an expensive mistake, If you are planning to use them, speak with current residents, see how their experience was.

Abysmal company

Abysmal company. Responsible for the building of Dargavel Primary School. Have let down an entire community by a last minute announcement that the school will not be ready for completion in August 2021, despite assurances to the contrary only a matter of weeks ago. Daughter is due to start Primary 1 in a matter of months, and what should be an exciting time is now tainted with stress and uncertainty. Inexcusable.

Gillian · 10 June 2021

Agent replied · 23 August 2024

Dargavel Primary School is being delivered by Robertson Construction for BAE Systems who in turn are delivering for Renfrewshire Council.Robertson Homes and Robertson Construction have no contractual links. Robertson Homes has no obligation in the delivery of the new school.Robertson Construction has released the following statement.A spokesperson for Robertson said:“We have been working with our customer BAE Systems to deliver the new Dargavel Primary School for Renfrewshire Council. “Many of the local community have expressed frustration at the building not being available for the new school term in August and while we understand their frustration, we remain committed to delivering a high-quality school for the community.“The start of the project was delayed as a result of the March 2020 lock down instructed by government to protect the community and workforce from COVID. Since starting the project, we have been complying with stringent safe operating procedures which are in place to protect both the workforce and the community. This has resulted in a reduction of the number of people who can be on-site at any one time. Safety is our number one priority and as a result we cannot and will not compromise the health and wellbeing of our workforce or the communities we work in. “Due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic and the effect that this has had on our industry, coupled with our priority to keep the communities where we work and our workforce safe the school will not be handed over in August. “We appreciate the frustration of the local community and would like to assure them that we share their desire for a high-quality school which will enhance attainment and benefit the local community for years to come.“The date for opening the new Dargavel Primary School will be announced shortly.”ENDS

Do Not Buy A Robertson Home in Wynyard - or the North East

I've given them 1 Star because you can't give 0 Star. We bought our house two years ago. We are still waiting for snags to be fixed, some of which are from our original 7 Day List. Robertsons are a complete shower of incompetents who once they have taken your money do not care anymore. They tell you that they have solved the problems, changed the site manager, changed contractors, but it makes absolutely NO difference.Robertson build quality is abysmal, with absolutely no quality control or checking of contractors work. The customer service is non-existent, emails and calls are ignored. Management is uninterested. If you think this report is an outlier, check out out why more than 50% of Trust Pilot reports on Robertson Homes are 1 Star. These issues do not just affect Wynyard, but also other developments in the North East.Do NOT buy a Robertsons house. The sales pitch is great, but the after sales experience is dreadful

Phase 1 Robertson Homes on Wynyard

We bought a Robertson House on Wynyard Estate 2022. We were naturally excited and that was only heightened given the marketing we were exposed to. In reality the product paid for was no where near value for money. The eventual final product of our Robertson Home is as billed - A beautifully designed home with lots of space and high quality fittings. However, the arduous journey we have had to endure to get there soured the process of purchasing our dream home into a nightmare.Along with the anticipated superficial snagging (an unfortunate reality to be expected with a newbuild) we experienced major fundamental faults, including internal leaks, external water ingress, non-functional appliances and missing upgrades we were happily billed for - a small insight into our issues which totalled to in excess of 100.Quality Control is non-existant. It is quite frankly embarrassing. There is no pride taken in their work with a recurring theme of shirking responsibility and zero accountability. We found Customer Care to be non-compliant with their procedures. At best they were unhelpful and at worst rude and defensive, simply not fit for their roles. They offered limited communication and we endured many wasted days waiting for trades people who didn't turn up or did but didn't have the skillset required to complete the job. After care, more like after thought once the money is handed over. After an initial 6 months of limited progress we were extremely fortunate that our direct contact became Steve Harrison, the former Assistant Site Manager who was excellent to deal with and consistently went above and beyond in finally resolving all of our issues - 18 months after moving in. In our experience he was the one outlier in a company that can only be described as incompetence personified from top to bottom. The estate has potential where work is pending but we wait with baited breath and we're sure more excuses and broken promises are inbound as we have seen no improvements in their conduct and culture. Actions speak louder than words and the actions from Robertson Homes during the time we have had the misfortune of dealing with them have been nothing short of a disgrace. In the past we normally read negative reviews with a pinch of salt but all you need to see is the consistency of the comments from those occupying Phase 1 of the Wynyard Site. As it currently stands a positive review would be an anomaly and you can see the feedback are based on substantuated factual experiences, not merely unfounded opinions. We are happy with our house as an end product, but can not over emphasise the stress and burdens, anger and disappointments we have been subject to during the moving in period. Our expectations of standards have been reasonable and realistic and Robertsons have more than fallen short showing themselves to be farcical and downright shambolic. The after care offered by Robertson Homes was truly abysmal and we urge caution to anyone considering buying a new build directly with Robertson Homes.

We share a joint access road with this…

We share a joint access road with this company and they are treating us very badly. We are a residential family home. This company does not live on their premises. Theirs is just very Derelict land. No services. Just junk and very over grown. We bought a house in middle no where. For peace and quiet. We bought our home 2002. This company bought land next to our home many years later. This company have given access with our shared access road to everyone and their grannies. To huge tractors and huge trailers. Access to other lands beyond their land. Heavy vehicles to land beyond their land, along a very fragile road. That they don’t maintain and don’t pay towards maintenance and don’t do any maintenance. The access road is in our Title Deeds as dual access just us and them. As their land and our lands, was one peace of land, that was split into. One road became joint access road only. This company has dual responsibility to repairs and maintenance to our access road. In 17 years has done nothing to maintain road, fence, or cut the grass. Yet are happy to give access to everybody and their grannies. But do not maintain the road, cut the grass or mend fences. The original access road was falling into the sea. We used part of our own land to replace eroded road and tarmarc the new part of land. Landscaping and also putting large stones to prevent folk parking on eroding cliff. This company allow huge tractors and trailers along a small track on eroding cliff face. O I forgot to mention they gave us permission to tarmac the access road using our land as the original dirt track was eroding into the sea. But, then said they were not contributing to the new road or landscape or fences financially. That left us to take the whole repair costs and landscaping costs also fence costs. As I keep saying this is a dual access road only according to our purchase information and deeds. This is a multi-million pound company. Bullying a small residential disabled woman owner. The owner of S & J D Robertson I believe are nice. I would not do business with this company. See how the manager of this company, Fiona, how they treat the little owners. Equal owners to their dump next door. They don’t care about neighbours as it’s not their money they are spending. They don’t live here so they don’t care. Just a dump for dumping rubbish on, a waste ground. We had harmony with previous owners. We never had to complain, not once. Develope this land in 17 years they have done nothing.

Snags still outstanding after 3 years…

Snags still outstanding after 3 years due to poor customer services and even poorer suppliers that Robertson use. Windows spontaneously combust - no liability from builder - we have to pay, they tried to blame the kids. (No one was in the room - we heard the smash) email escalation and the higher you go the more they fob you off. Various leaks occurred after two years and they have no interest - walls cut out to find poor workmanship during install (plumber comment). Garage door - buckled in middle, countless visits and just a simple warranty claim on their supplier - still waiting. All it takes is some organisation?!The site has potential to be lovely, but littered with poor grounds upkeep, dead plants, flag poles bases sticking out the ground and building waste and mess on pathways. There is 0 pride taken in their work.I urge you to take a drive around the bellway greens and compare to Robertsons phase 1. You will then understand.

What can I say but shambolic

What can I say but shambolic. They have clearly been getting away with fraud for years. I’m in my home now for 17 years and it took me about 10 years to sort the issues. Numerous reports to NHBC. Only now 17yrs later are they doing something about the suds drainage system in the street so that scottush water will agree to take it over. The design isn’t fit for purpose and resulted in some garages being flooded and worse over the years. The snagging was shocking and about 1yr after the houses were occupied there were several break ins most likely using a true key. Thankfully I’d changed my locks after moving in so I wasn’t affected. My neighbours and I had leaks in ceiling from pipework not properly screwed in. Some of the canopies at the front of the homes are collapsing.I had to contact NHBC for a repair,The cavity trays weren’t cleared of mortar resulting in flooding in my kitchen/sunroom for about two years until 2 separate companies came to look and one eventually fixed it. Bricks out bricks in. Shocking. Shocking!! Very stressful time. We went through about 3 site agents at least. One being an alcoholic who was driving in the road with kids playing about. Learned this later or I’d have reported him, I had flooding in my garage every year until I learned that the drain hole wasn’t connected to the main drain. Water was going into the foundations. I had to pay an independent builder to fix this. Got NHBC out for that too.Customer service is shocking. Don’t even get me started with the factors they panned onto us. Con merchants. I could seriously write a book.Asked for a few meetings over the keys to get no response. Customer service disgusting!!!!’ 1 star … it’s has taken me a lot of time and it’s been costly over the years yi fix the problems that they made. Poor inspections. Cutting corners. Thinking people don’t have any common sense to see these issues. If the house had been a car it wouldn’t have left the garage. Good luck folks!
