I had a mixed experience with Ellis and Co. I rented with them for a year. The flat was nicely redecorated before we moved in. The agent we dealt with was friendly, and most of the time when we had minor repairs or issues with the flat they were quick to send someone to fix it. I didn't get the feeling that they were out to rip us off, as is the case with a lot of letting agents. The reason they lose some stars is because of communication - when we had queries that were more complicated than a simple repair, our emails would often go unanswered, or only answered after a lot of chasing. This was quite frustrating at times. It took quite a few emails and about a month of time after I moved out to be told when my deposit would be returned (I eventually received it in full). Overall I think they are a decent letting agent, but if they improved communication and responsiveness they could be great.

Have to echo other people's comments on here and say that I have found Ashley to be incredibly rude and aggressive. After my daughter and her roommates were having issues in getting work carried out and constantly being talked down to or not responded to I tried to step in. I phoned Ashley and tried to go through some of the issues (as one of the guarantors) , he talked over me, became aggressive and was incredibly obnoxious. The place is being rented by students and as such is no palace but that doesn't give him the right to talk to clients the way he does. When I tried to reason with him he refused to speak to me. We shall definitely be taking this further not least because there are outstanding issues, but in the meantime I would suggest avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

I have rented with them for one and a half years, during which they provided exceptionally fast responses to my queries and had every issue fixed straight away (they also managed the property). In the beginning of our tenancy we had an issue with the boiler and Ellis & Co got it sorted immediately. Renewing our contract was a breeze, because Kier (our awesome agent) made the process very straight forward and seamless. Ellis and Co charge very reasonable prices, while they deliver an exceptionally high quality service. I highly recommend them to all my friends, because great estate agents are hard to find!

I am living overseas and Ellis and Co have managed my property for let since 2005, and I would reccomend them to anybody considering letting out their property. As I live in Australia, I need to have faith in my managing agent - which I do!. As well as nearly doubling my rental return since 2005, I have never not had a tenant, rent is paid immediately to me (I never have to chase them for it), repairs are dealt with efficently and are never over charged, and emails and queries from me are always replied to. If you want peace of mind and hassle free letting, these are the guys to choose!!!

We rented a great flat in Bethnal Green from them for a year- they were prompt in organizing our contract and followed up on all our requests. The flat was in great condition when we moved in and they inspected in regularly on behalf on the landlord- always giving us good notice of when they were coming. I'd highly recommend them

They also ignored our emails and phone calls for months, which meant we had to deal with broken heating, broken taps, broke fire alarms etc.for months. 100% do not recommend.
