Sale of my property and purchase onwards

I had never been involved in buying and selling a property with a chain and this had 8 properties in the chain. I became aware of this from Nicolle Eustration who was acting on behalf of my sellers. However she kept me regularly updated, always called back when I left a voicemail and was even contacted on her days off to answer my queries when I had been asked to consider breaking the chain. Her experience shone through - she gave me every confidence that she knew what needed to happen to move things along and she followed this up with actions. The point of exchange last Friday was a huge relief but I felt she had been open and honest throughout the months getting to this point and although it was stressful, I had every confidence in her.

Good service. Staff do try their best.

I found dealing with the staff at Douglas Allen to be generally a good one. Daniel Bourne the Dalston branch manager was always helpful. Our sales progressor Andrew Bilby was also helpful. His task is not an easy one but was knowledgable, professional and belayed some of my frustrations in the progress of our sale. Estate agents do get a bad name but the work that is needed to be done the commission they charge is reasonable. That is for a successful sale. Obviously not end in a positive way. I honestly do not know how some move home without a professional estate agent. Douglas Allen we a cut above the rest.

We put our house on the market with another agent in the local area; after 4 weeks we hadn't had any offers or real interest. We had already offered on a house we loved & had 2 weeks deadline left before it was put back on the market (if no offer on our house).. We placed it on with Stuart @ Douglas Allen Wickford, the next day Hazel had lined up the first viewing, they offered & we accepted £4k under asking price!! The care from offer to completion was amazing, Natasha Mercieca was a huge support with her help and advice!! And made the whole process a lot less stressful! We recently completed on a property sale exactly one year after our buyer made their offer. The sale was managed by Maureen Forde and her team in the East Ham branch, who showed remarkable patience in the face of stubborn tenants, protracted legal proceedings, and occasional angry emails from me! We were looked after by three Sales Progressors, all of whom were proactive, respectful and sympathetic. I would definitely recommend Douglas to anyone looking to sell in E6 and E16.

Great In Every Way.

We signed up with another local estate agent and after some viewings we accepted and offer below the asking price but as we needed to move forward with a new build. After 4 weeks we discovered that the buyers couldn't get a mortgage, and the estate agent had known this for over a week before we found out. Contacted Douglas Allen (Chingford) and Glenn was round the following Wednesday with lots of encouragement and an action plan. And true to his word we had people queuing out the door on the Saturday! twenty odd viewings and 3 offers. Over the next few days we had more viewings and another offer. Offer then accepted and all go on the new build, we can't thank all the staff at Douglas Allen for the professional and excellent service they have provided to us. I know there are cheaper options out there but for the peace of mind and brilliant service they provided there is no doubt in my mind they would be my first choice.

Efficient honest competent and personable.

This company contacted me when I was searching for property and asked if I was intending to sell, would I like a valuation. Within a few days someone came to my flat, valued it and suggested terms for selling which were agreed. I was expecting viewings to go on for some weeks but the interest that was created meant that an acceptable offer was made after about a week and a half. There was some communication problem for a while but this was due to their Dalston office closing at short notice. Now things are going well and the sale is proceeding and communication is good. My particular thanks to Jat and Danielle Bourne.

Very disapointed!

We were told that Douglas Allen were the best agents to sell our property, and that by using them we would have a stress free experience, high customer care and professionalism at all times! Having lived in our home for 39 years, and having to move only because of mobility problems, a stress free experience and top class customer care were top of our agenda, unfortunately Douglas Allen have not delivered, and now we are tied into a 20 week contract, having to just make the best of a bad situation, for which we have to pay for the privilege of poor customer service, endless excuses and anything but "STRESS FREE"! Saying all that, there is one member of staff who has stopped us from going totally insane, (thank you Ian).

Valuation review

We short listed 2 agents to consider putting our house on the market with. Was considering the idea of an open house as described by your employee. However the administration process that should have followed was shocking. I had to chase on 2 occasions for the letter by post or email that confirmed the valuation, which to this day, several weeks later has never arrived. The email never arrived and all I received was a one liner giving the valuation amount. Not very professional at all. I would be paying Douglas Allen to do all the work, not expect to have to chase up. Not a good impression. The star rating above is not totally accurate. Their was no friction during the meeting, however it was an inadequate experience.

Barkingside estate agents

This is our first house purchase and we have been very happy with Douglas Allen Barkingside branch. Ummad was the person that we first met when viewing and felt straight away that he was someone that could trust and he knew a lot about the property.
