Jonathan is a useless agent - only interested in helping himself. Tries to get you to use their solicitors and mortgage broker (called Ross who works in the Barnard Marcus office) - no doubt they want you to use these people as they will get a kickback for the referral. Ross is a crooked mortgage advisor, trying to add in additional extras that you probably don't need. Be wary if using Jonathan as he's only interested in making a quick buck for himself and has poor professionalism and customer service skills. If he's a senior manager than I dread what to think the other Agents are like. Stay away.

Harassment and refusal to delete information. I approached Barnard Marcus to value my home and also to view properties in my house search. I had no particular issue with them but didn’t use them to sell my home or buy in the end. However, what I have received since then is still continued emails and phone calls from more than one branch. I have blocked numbers and emails but still some manage to get through. This is despite my repeated attempts to unsubscribe and even a formal GDPR request using the template from the information commissioner. I am therefore having to go through legal routes, simply to have them stop contacting me. Never had I had such persistent and illegal marketing spam from a company.

Unfortunately, a little disappointed. I enquired about a 3 bedroom property last week, and the lady I spoke to, although she sounded like a nice lady, said that the landlord of the property did not want anyone on universal credit. We are a family of four, and have a full-time job, so this is of course unlawful, considering that it wouldn't have been a question of affordability, since we could definitely afford the property. Many landlords don't seem to understand that universal credit also works as a top up to people's full-time salaries, especially families. It would be a good idea to remind landlords that they are potentially discriminating when they discount families that receive universal credit, or any other benefits. It should be a simple case of whether they can prove that they have the finances to afford it, and that good references also back this up. We clearly miss out on a property we could afford, simply because we receive universal credit. It also breeds dishonesty. The council advises tenants that they are not actually obliged to tell potential landlords about the credits or benefits, and for those who want to begin with an honest relationship, it is tempting to do just what the council advises considering the very real benefit-discrimination that exists. We do hope for a better, and fairer property market someday. And just a fairer society.
