At first, all went well. Danny and Daniella were really helpful on our sale. They were responsive and attentive and we sold in relatively short time. We sold under asking but this was because the buyers were cash purchasers and we wanted to take advantage of the stamp duty holiday and keep momentum for our upward chain, so were happy with this arrangement. However, this was when it started to go awry. The after sales care was appalling. After THREE MONTHS, during which time we carried out surveys, enquries etc etc and were ready to exchange, it transpired that our buyers weren't cash purchasers at all but required a mortgage. A mortgage that was declined by two providers, so they clearly didn't have the funds. When we asked Simon Jarvis, the after sales contact (and, unbelievably, the office manager) whether proof of funds had been carried out, we could not receive a straight answer for love nor money because, quite clearly, none of the checks had been made, a basic, fundamental task that all estate agents are required to carry out. Whilst I understand that mistakes can be made and things can be overlooked, especially in a period when the property market was so frantic, what was worse was the absolutely abysmal customer service that Simon provided. We always had to chase him, while he was evasive and lacked any accountability, avoiding our direct questions, only answering what he wanted to answer and never even having the decency to pick up the phone and speak to us, always hiding behind email. As a result of his total lack of professionalism and failure to carry out the basics of his job, the entire chain fell through. I would never recommend an estate agent that employed someone whose lack of attention to detail and respect for the client is so profound.NegativeQuality, Professionalism
