I’m disappointed with my recent experience communicating with Northwood, particularly with Megan. After receiving helpful clarification that the agency is not responsible for end-of-tenancy procedures, I sent a polite follow-up email to thank her and to explain a misunderstanding based on information previously provided by the agency. Unfortunately, her reply came across as dismissive and unrelated to the actual content of my message. It felt as though my email wasn’t read properly or understood, and I was simply told again to deal with the landlord directly, even though I wasn’t asking her to intervene further. This lack of engagement gave the impression that my communication was unwelcome, which was both unexpected and unprofessional. It left me feeling that the only option was to avoid further contact, which is very disappointing, especially when I had made every effort to be polite and reasonable.

We moved into a property that turned out to be full of mould and serious water damage, making it unsafe to live in. During both our viewings, Bethany Williams assured us the door was just stuck, but it was clearly concealing significant issues. After raising our concerns, we were met with rudeness and a complete lack of empathy from both Bethany and Jacqui, who told us the agency had no responsibility once tenants moved in. This added immense stress during an already difficult time, with no proper support from the agency. We chose Northwood based on their reputation, but unfortunately, our experience has been extremely poor and upsetting. Not recommended.

It is always a very difficult decision when you have to rent your home and you become a landlord. It is mentally challenging as you have to leave your own house and also think that it should be in the right hands to manage your house in your absence. I am a joint executor for the estate of a cousin who passed away in December 2020. We used Northwood for the sale of two residences in Ashford. As the first property was already mid-sale at the time of death, we had to halt the sale for several months. With the uplift in the market, we as executors were legally obliged to maximise the value of the estate. Accordingly, we instructed Northwood to give the buyers a few days to increase the offer. This was not forthcoming, so we instructed Northwood to re-market the property. We quickly received new offers and achieved an 11% increase on the price from the previous sale. Northwood then marketed the second property and secured 16 viewings in one week; all conducted without any need to attend by us. We received several offers and agreed a sale at 12% higher than the estate valuation. These sales represent a great result for the estate beneficiaries. Northwood’s fees were highly competitive, and I have no hesitation recommending the team at the Ashford office. Mark & Gavin were professional, communicative and gave independent advice when needed. We bought our house from Mark at Northwood and found him excellent to deal with in all aspects of the purchase. He was knowledgable about the house and the area, always quick to respond to queries and seemed to be genuinely happy for us when we finally had our offer accepted after quite a difficult sales process on our own house. Unlike estate agents we'd dealt with in the past there was no dramatic change in behaviour once the offer was accepted - he was kind and courteous throughout the process and a great mediator between us and the vendors during the inevitable hiccups of conveyancing.
