Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Thornley Groves to anyone currently going through the stressful moving process! I was seen to by the Thornley Groves Southern Gateway Office, in particular by Sophie, she was lovely and highly professional. Sophie sold the property to me very quickly and answered all my questions, in addition to reassuring me with any of my concerns. All paper work was sent to me and queries were answered very quickly! To say I found and signed for somewhere in less than a week is incredible!

This review is for Thornley Groves and Katie Garner. Due to the pandemic I rented a 1bed flat based upon a video viewing and was assured that the flat would be clean and tidy on my arrival. Well, the boiler was broken, the flat had used pots and pans, used pillows, and duvet, used cutlery, a used pair of shoes, broken electronic devices, marks all over the walls and floors throughout the flat, hand print marks in the living room etc. The balcony was delivered full in mud, moss and rubbish and their response was that the flat was professionally cleaned and I had to keep the used stuff, otherwise would need to be replaced. I doubt if anyone checked the flat to ensure its ready for the new tenant.As for the boiler they said they are not engineers to check the boiler. Ehh? Not sure whose responsibility is to manage and maintain the property in a good condition? To be fair, the boiler was fixed quickly.They also failed to provide me with the landlord’s address within 21 days on my request, which I think is against the law?? This is my worst experience with a letting agency and personally would NEVER trust them to manage my property.

Thornley grove Estate Agents have got the be the worst property management service in Manchester. I asked to switch agents because I was unhappy with the service this was 18-12-2023 Ive been passed from pillar to post ( holidays staff leaving on sick leave) I’m still waiting now in June 2024

Excellent Customer Service from Property Manager

I have rented a property with Thornley Groves for the past 5 years. The property manager for my apartment block, is Gabriel Walker of the Vimto Gardens Branch and he has provided me with the best service I could ask for. Gabriel has provided a consistently helpful and supportive service. I have had a few problems with the flat in the past few years in terms of maintenance issues, and Gabriel has always been very prompt in rectifying these and providing help and support to ensure that repairs and damages are fixed quickly. He has great communication, which is not something that I have found a lot from other letting agencies, and has provided a gold standard customer service that I cannot fault. He also facilitated a smooth checkout procedure from the property, which was really helpful. I would recommend the letting agency based on the service provided by Gabriel as property manager, he is an asset to the team at Thornley Groves.

Recent property viewing.We viewed a property with Kelly McDermott from Thornley Groves. She was so welcoming and professional, she knew all about the property, and was able to answer all of our questions. She also knew all about the vendor, so had obviously built a good relationship with her also. She was also very prompt in replying to our messages. It was a pleasure to deal with this lovely lady, and if I had a property to sell, I would definitely use her and her agency - thank you !

TG Reletting Process

TG has recently completed the reletting of a rental property that they manage on my behalf. Jodie Finch did a really professional job in finalising the previous tenant matters, arranging for any maintenance to be carried out and finding a new tenant in next to no time. The reletting was arranged slickly and with minimal input from me as the landlord and it is reassuring to know your property is in safe hands. A great job all round!

Rental experience

I have recently agreed a let through Thornley Groves that was a really great experience from start to finish. I spoke with Claire Blackman from the altrincham office and she recommended and arranged a viewing for a property that was exactly what I needed. Claire then helped me by explaining what I needed to do next and helped me throughout the process. I was a rental novice so was grateful for her patience in explaining things to me. I was most grateful too for how quickly I always had a response to my emails. Once it was all agreed and I had to complete my tenancy documents Emily Guy (from the same office) helped me complete the process and arrange a time that was convenient for me to collect my keys and confirm the next steps. A great process from start to finish. Thank you.

Not recommended if you have other choices

Sales agent is responsive but property manager is not.I am not sure where the problem is, there are no negotiations or revision can make for the tenant agreement. Tenant can only accept all the terms even I think some points are too harsh and even are the tenant’s penalties instead of the letting terms. Also, the inventory checking report provided by the property agent is not objective and looks like over protect the landlord. As I found that when I check-in, so many items are not matching the standard stated mentioned in the inventory report, especially for the cleanliness. For example, he mark “good” cleanliness for the place with a thick layer of dust. The refrigerator cannot maintain at 4degree but still mark the condition is good. So, please think twice before approaching this property agency. Not very good experience for the post-letting services.

The usual standard of property agencies, they treat the property owner as a deity and the rent paying tenant like total scum.The staff turnover is so high by the time we re raise the repair that was ignored six months ago its a new team and we start the whole process over again.Dialogue isnt direct to the landlord so they filter out what they want to maximise their profit at the expense of both the owner and tenant

Absolutely terrible agency we were…

Absolutely terrible agency we were notified before our move in date with less than 24hrs that the property wasn’t ready, zero empathetic behavior , professionalism,helpfulness and communication most of all. We were given false information and they never took responsibility for the damage they caused to us. Don’t recommend it at all, you’ll find way more professional and better agencies, Thornley has cheap properties but it comes with cheap service as well.

Unresponsive agents. Had to live without heating for an entire year in an accommodation arranged by them. No help provided on fixing the heating, multiple issues with the property for which we complained without any response, but they charged us for fixing those issues when we moved out.

Tom (Lee) was both friendly and efficient when I rang the office. He gave me useful answers to my questions and was happy to arrange a viewing very quickly. At the viewing he did not rush me and was ready with information but did admit when he didn’t know the answer and offered to find out. I found this reassuring. Avoid!!

Avoid!!! They lie to you and let you down!!! We found a property listed by Hale branch, and they asked for best and FINAL offer. We placed our offer and Stuart (their mamager) called me on previous Friday to confirm that our offer was accepted by the vendors. He told me that we could officially start the process once our mortgage advisor confirmed on the mortgage side. Our mortgage advisor confirmed everything on the same day. I emailed Stuart to ask for starting the process on Monday. He replied on Tuesday morning saying that "the vendors have had a slight hitch on their related purchase which has meant that they have had take a step back and just look at their options", which was strange because we had been confirmed that there's no chain. In the afternoon Stuart told me a totally different story. The other competitor whose best and final offer didn't win, placed another offer, and it was passed to the vendors. So the vendors changed their mind!! How disappointed!!!!! We have provided ALL documents required by our mortgage advisor and even filled the tax return for 20-21 tax year during the weekend as it's requested by our lender. Our solicitor was ready as well. Our offer and our time was not respected at all!!!!! We are now consider Thornley Groves as a dishonest, and unethic organization.
