I reported some broken flags in my back…

I reported some broken flags in my back garden as a tripping hazard as I’ve mobility problems and I’m very happy the work was efficiently completed the same week, also a very rusty metal back door disabled hand rail I reported at the same time due to sharp metal pieces being a hazard as well and again the handrail was rubbed smooth with an angle grinder and painted so I wouldn’t cut myself on it. Can’t praise WDH enough for them considering my mobility issues and the polite workmen carrying out the work very well 10/10. Can’t remember the exact date so I’d say a couple of months ago.

Well since we filed this report in due…

Well since we filed this report in due to the fact the anti social behaviour team wasn't doing anything about this nuisance neighbour an now it's gone to the ombudsmen team. This nuisance neighbour has had wdh workers there much every week for the past four months. Funny how the tables turn on decent pillars of the community. Because wdh don't like to push the pen. Long has they get there rent. Baring in mind this neighbour owed thousands of pounds in rent areas. Due to spending money on other things. Most will know what a mean when a say other things. Not food an house hold bills like the rest of us. But still wdh will bend over backwards for this tenant. But us if your a couple of week out due to direct debts not going out till a certain date. An wdh computer system does the calculations a couple of weeks in advance. You've got a letter through the door or someone turning up. This person has caused nothing but trouble to not just us but older generation that won't speak up due to the fact wdh aren't doing anything. Even after a few have reported the situation. Well one of our neighbours who lives in a private property is thinking of going on the local news to name an shame the mangers of wdh involved. Which we don't blame them. Enough is enough.

Warden provision.

My mother lives in Croftlands, an Extra Care facility but she is often left without a Warden on site even though there is an element in her rent for this. This makes her feel vulnerable. She is aged 98.

Build quality 👎. Appears to be a training ground for apprentices with little guidance from more experienced tradespeople. The pictures are of the window frame sealing. They haven't used sealant on some. As for the brickwork, admittedly, I'm not a brickie, but for the price of these houses, I would expect far better. If I could afford to buy one, would I 🤔... definitely not!

Ongoing disgusting service from WDH

Nothing has progressed re the noise that I am concerned about. I have done everything that’s been asked of me. I ring up every day to speak to someone who’s NEVER available and they don’t even have the manners to call me back. As long as WDH are getting their rent they will go on ignoring me. Customer service at its very worse !! It’s disgusting and so stressful for me. WDH simply don’t care

Run away

I am sure some of the lovely folk on here would like to have an update since my last review. I finally have managed to speak to one of the big bosses via LinkedIn. It started off great he was on my side he was upset just like I am with the lack of communication the lack of care the fact that was suffering with nightmare neighbours et cetera he said he would investigate but he just comes back to me and says that I need to contact the person I’m already dealing with, okay but the reason I contacted you was because the person I was dealing with in the first place wasn’t doing anything to help so I went higher up to management., yet you’re sending me back down to just a regular member of staff. So basically long story short it doesn’t matter if you work with the regular members of staff customer service on the phone which by the way a lot of them on the phone are quite rude and abrupt or whether you deal with management or whether you deal with one of the big bosses (like I finally got in touch with) they all are exactly the same they all sing off the same hymn sheet and don’t give a 💩, about anything other than getting money from you I’ve said it before &I say it again. I will sing it until my last breath stay away. Look elsewhere. I do not recommend. Do not take any shared ownership property not just with this company but any company you don’t have the rights you think you do. You don’t have the power or the freedom you think you do and if you ever want to do anything to your property, you need to ask permission, and on top of needing permission, you have to pay £35 every time and put in a silly little request form but the renters get away with anything and everything and that’s just highly unfair. Don’t even get me started on trying to sell the property that’s gonna be a nightmare too apparently they don’t tell you this but when you read it in the binder you’re given we as the “tenants”/“owners” are responsible for paying the solicitors fee for ourselves and for WDH cheeky much ?! Not only that but they try to get half of the cost of the valuation when you sell. which I know I’ve probably said before in previous reviews but I’m gonna keep saying it and I’m gonna keep going on about it cause I need the people considering getting one of these properties to know the truth

Ignoring tenants instead of helping

I've just got round to reading trustpilot reviews of wdh, I didn't think things were this bad but I have to agree, this company is very good at ignoring tenants who have damp/mould issues , I have contacted them too many times to mention on the one call number to be told someone will call, inevitably they don't ,this has been going on for 6 months. Nobody should have to live in a property in such disrepair.

No help what so ever feel let down by WDH. I've been a WDH tenants for over 30 years. But that counts for nothing with these guys. All they care about is getting their pensions. Don't care about anybody's feelings they've got no compassion. You'll know the one when they come to your home. They say we know we're sorry will sort it. Then don't do nothing false sympathy because there in front of you. Please guys complain to your local mp. Hopefully your local mp will bring it up in parliament for you. We're on with it now.

UPDATE, unbelievable idea of maintenance.

Update:- absolutely unbelievable, been to the landlocked behind my property, and cut a 6ft track around the edge of it. Saying its to encourage butterflies & bees, couldn't see any of either, more likely will attract rats & other vermin. You need plants with pollen to attract those not dockweeds and grass, why not do the job properly and lay meadowgrass. One time expense but would last years, look better & attract the butterflies and bee's. I am a long standing WDH tenant of many years, in general I have found them to be reasonable regarding repairs & grounds maintenance. But over the last 4/5 years grounds maintenance has become absolutely appalling. Hedges around blocks of flats so overgrown they obstruct public footpaths, landlocked areas are now over 4 foot high with weeds & grass. Tenants hedges obstructing footpaths, they may be maintained but they are so wide they come right over the paths in some places. Do you no longer do estate walks to highlight these issues? Maybe you should concentrate on maintaining the properties & land you already have instead of acquiring/building properties miles away.

KC · 26 July 2024 · Wakefield and District Housing Barnsley (Well House Lane)

Agent replied · 23 August 2024

Hi KCWe're incredibly sorry that you're unhappy with the condition of hedges and landlocked areas within your community. We conduct regular site audits with our Grounds Maintenance contractor to monitor the standard of our Grounds Maintenance service. We also value the importance of our key residents in helping us effectively monitor environmental quality and our Estates teams also take appropriate action where tenancy breaches can be evidenced. We would welcome the opportunity for you to further support us with this and if you would like to discuss further, please contact us via phone on 0345 8 507 507 or email with your details and we can speak to the relevant Estate Manager.
