GoogleMe and my partner were looking for a flat in London, we used Truepennys to support us during the search and for the offer process for one of our favourite flats. We ended up signing a contract for another place, but the support we received from Madison and John was so good; they were easy to reach, communicative; they answere all our questions quickly and in a very helpful way. If we ever look for another place, we'll definitely reach out to them again!

If you want to pay people to NOT manage your property - then this is the agent for you. A revolving door of staff who are not up to speed on your issues, do not respond to emails or phone calls - I mean for months and months. I will just give one example: having lived in the house with small children that was not damp, we had tenants that reported damp and ended up spending £6000 on damp work and now I’ve taken the house back I have found a blocked drain that caused the issue and was rectified for £230!!! I’m now left with a house the needs replastering and repainting. Utterly useless.

GoogleTerrible experience, terrible estate agent. Stole part of our deposit on a technicality about professional cleaning. We paid ~£450 for a professional cleaning (this was stipulated in the contract) on the day of move out, yet they still took a large part of our deposit due to the cleaning being done before we moved out. Common sense would tell you that it would be impossible to let the cleaners in after moving out. However the great minds at truepennys evidently lack this basic skill. Maybe Mariem or Valencia could shed some light on this.... But good luck getting a reply out of either of them. In the end, after lots of back and forth with the DPS, we were able to recover around half of the money Truepennys falsely claimed from our deposit.
For clarity, the deposit dispute relating to this tenancy was referred to the independent Deposit Protection Service for adjudication. Having considered the evidence submitted by both parties, the DPS adjudicator found that the cleanliness of the property had deteriorated during the tenancy and that the tenants were liable for additional cleaning. An award was therefore made, with the balance of the disputed cleaning claim returned because the adjudicator considered that awarding the full amount would have constituted betterment. The outcome was determined independently by the DPS. It was not a decision by Truepenny’s simply to retain deposit monies. We fully respect your right to express dissatisfaction with your experience, but any suggestion that Truepenny’s dishonestly or improperly retained the deposit is rejected. For reasons of confidentiality, we will not discuss further details of the tenancy publicly.

Truepennys, feel free to deny this, because I know you will, but we will just attach another review with evidence. So I suggest you don’t even try it. But, they got part of it back to us, just under half the money! Amazing, thanks truepennys!! Oh and by the way, Mariem and Valencia are some of the most useless, rude agents ever. In fact, she even shouted at us down the phone when we asked some simple questions. All in all, DO NOT go with these estate agents. They are awful. Thanks :)
We must correct the serious allegation in this review that Truepenny’s “stole” any part of your deposit. The balance was returned because the adjudicator considered that awarding the full amount would have constituted betterment given the condition of the property at the start of the tenancy. It is therefore inaccurate to describe the outcome as Truepenny’s having “stolen” money, or to suggest that the claim was rejected as false or decided merely on a technicality concerning when your cleaners attended. We must also correct the suggestion that our team failed to respond. Our contemporaneous correspondence records repeated assistance with the DPS process, for which you thanked our team on several occasions. You are of course entitled to express dissatisfaction with your experience. However, an allegation that Truepenny’s stole money is a serious allegation of dishonesty which we wholly reject. For reasons of confidentiality, we will not discuss any further details of the tenancy publicly.

GoogleI’ve just read Truepennys response to my previous review. Their response is empty and their claims have no basis. I stand by what I said. Whatever you do, do not work with this agency. They only mean trouble. There are plenty of other estate agents much more reputable and safe compared to them. Peace out ✌️

The team at Truepennys worked incredibly hard and were a pleasure to deal with throughout. I did get the impression they hadn't sold many school or loft conversion apartments before, as there was some uncertainty around the service charge. That said, they secured an offer within three weeks of the flat going on the market. The real star of the show has been Wallace Jaffray, Head of Progression. He kept our transaction moving at every stage and was invaluable in building trust between us and our buyer, and gave me advice on my own onward purchase well beyond what he needed to do. We bought our onward purchase through one of the big rival chains, and the contrast was stark. Having someone like Wallace driving things once an offer is agreed makes a real difference, and would make me choose Truepennys again each time.

Your deposit is held independently within a custodial deposit protection scheme, which provides a formal process for considering any proposed deductions. GoogleA great experience with Truepennys and I would recommend them. John was really honest and helpful from the start. Their fees were the cheapest compared to other agents and they tried to get me the best price compared to other agents. They even read my meters for me after completion as I was away, and flagged a maintenance issue they discovered one time on viewings, offering to send someone to fix it. It went a bit quiet at one point and I had to call for updates but I would rather that than be hounded with phone calls. I felt in control of the experience and they listened and acted on my instruction. Both John and Wallace were great to work with - thanks Truepennys!
