Excellent Result and Received my Keys today! Tenants perspective; 1. Viewing the property - quick response and appointment, on time and property as described. 2. Paperwork and communication - excellent, everything explained and straightforward referencing was quick and easy 3. Response to enquiries/problems - all staff at Tower Estates extremely helpful and supportive, gave time to each conversation politely 4.Repeat visit to the property - nothing too much trouble 5. Appointment for move in - handover of keys and meter reading - professional, efficient and polite. I have great confidence in this professional and supportive Estate Agents and I will always use them as my preferred choice going forward. Dan was exceptionally brilliant, supportive and understanding when questions arose. Throughout this process I have felt appreciated and valued - when you are a tenant this is the approach you need - use Tower Estates they are brilliant! A**

My overall experience with Tower Estate Agents was extremely disappointing, and unfortunately, I would not recommend their service to anyone. From the very first day, the staff were initially nice, friendly and helpful, and I was happy when I received the keys to my flat. However, once I entered the property, I was shocked by the condition it was left in. The place was extremely dirty and completely unorganised. During the first few days, I had to spend my own time painting and cleaning the entire property from top to bottom. The condition was so bad that, even after cleaning, it still didn’t feel properly clean or suitable to live in. On top of that, the cooker was not working. I contacted them to get it repaired, but it took a full week for the issue to be resolved, despite them knowing that I have children who needed to be fed. What made the situation worse was the way I was treated when I called. On several occasions, the woman I spoke to on the phone was very rude and gave me an attitude, and she even hung up on me more than once. I found this extremely unprofessional and upsetting. Later, I discovered that the mattress provided in the property was in a truly disgusting condition. I could not allow my children to sleep on it, so I contacted them and asked for it to be replaced. Unfortunately, it took three months for them to finally change the mattress. For anyone wondering why I waited for them to replace it rather than simply buying a new one myself, this was temporary accommodation, and I was not allowed to replace or dispose of the furniture myself. I therefore had no choice but to wait for them to deal with it. Another thing I found very strange was that the manager repeatedly encouraged and pressured me to leave feedback online. At the time, I found this uncomfortable, especially considering the issues I was experiencing with the property and the service. I believe feedback should be given voluntarily and honestly, rather than feeling pressured to provide it. Overall, my experience was extremely stressful and disappointing. I expected a property to be provided in a clean, safe and reasonable condition, especially when children are involved. Instead, I felt that I had to constantly chase issues that should have been dealt with before I was given the keys. I have also raised my concerns with my council, and I was told that they had received other complaints about this property/service and that they would no longer be booking this place for people. I am sharing my experience so that anyone considering using this service knows what they may potentially be dealing with. Please think carefully before putting yourself through the stress and frustration that I experienced.

Tower Estates have been my letting agents for a 1bed flat in Scarborough. They have always been helpful and supportive, finding some good tenants when it was required. That has been over a 20 year period. More recently, we put our flat up for sale, and used Tower Estates as a sales agent. They were again, supportive and found a buyer of our flat, which recently completed. What more could we ask for. I also want to mention all the staff at Tower Estates in Scarborough, as they are always pleasant, understanding, return calls and emails where required. I would not hesitate in recommending them as letting agents or estate agents. Wonderful people and company. Martin.K

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt this experience was worth sharing. I was searching for a studio flat for a short-term let and contacted the office several times. Unfortunately, my calls were either rejected or I was told I would receive a call back to arrange a viewing, which never happened. When I did manage to speak with someone, the level of professionalism was disappointing. The agent I spoke to seemed uninterested in answering basic questions and the conversation felt very dismissive. One Saturday late last year I decided to visit the office in person. The shutters were down, which seemed unusual during opening hours, and through the window I could see a member of staff asleep on the sofa. After that, it became clearer why my calls had been going unanswered. Overall, the experience left a very poor impression and felt quite unprofessional.

I’ve been with Tower for about seven years as a tenant and have also sold my family home through them. They have always been really friendly ,helpful, and easy to deal with. Anytime I’ve needed anything they’ve been there and the service has always been great. Would definitely recommend.

UPDATE (Jan 2026): Tower Estates claims they had no responsibility because I was a "lodger." However, they are conveniently ignoring the fact that they also abandoned a lead tenant who had direct contract with them. This tenant called and emailed them repeatedly requesting to be released from the tenancy after I was assaulted - they ignored the calls and emails and refused to help. Interestingly, they only answered when I called from an unknown number on their behalf instead. This tenant was only released from the contract after bypassing Tower Estates and contacting the landlord directly. Tower Estates won't explain how they abandoned their own contracted tenant during a violent crisis. Their "lodger" excuse is exactly that - an excuse. -------- I had an extremely negative experience with Tower Estates during a crisis situation. I was a lodger in a property they managed, and when serious conflicts with one of the lead tenants escalated to physical assault (reported to police), Tower Estates failed completely in their duty of care. My flatmate and I visited their office to report exploitation and safety concerns. They listened but took no action. We specifically asked them NOT to contact the problematic tenant to avoid escalation, but they contacted her anyway, putting us in more danger. After the assault, I sent multiple emails informing them of police involvement and requesting urgent help - all were ignored. Another tenant desperately needed to be released from her contract due to safety concerns, but they refused and ignored her calls. She was only released after bypassing them entirely and contacting the landlord directly. Regarding my deposit: it was wrongfully withheld with no itemisation. I have photos showing the room's condition. I had renovated the room at my own expense, but wasn't able to complete minor finishing work (filling some holes for painting) because I had to flee due to the violence. Despite this, I was charged for lock changes even though I returned my key, and no inventory was provided at move-in to compare against. When I challenged the deductions, they said it was "nothing to do with them" because I was a lodger. To add insult to injury, after I left, the lead tenant increased the rent for that room and profited off the renovations I had paid for and spent weeks doing - Tower Estates showed no concern about this exploitative arrangement. Additionally, the property had serious damp and mould issues that posed health and safety concerns, which they refused to address. When we initially visited the office, staff responded negatively to the idea of repair requests before we could even raise our concerns, showing clear reluctance to fulfil basic property maintenance responsibilities. We were dismissed, laughed at, and not taken seriously during a violent crisis. They managed the property and collected rent but refused all accountability when it mattered. I strongly advise both tenants and landlords to avoid Tower Estates - they neglect properties, ignore health hazards, and abandon people in dangerous situations.

Hi Megan, We’re very sorry that you felt unsupported during what was clearly a very upsetting and stressful situation. You were a lodger placed in the property by the tenant and did not have a direct contractual or client relationship with Tower Estates; any agreement was between you and the tenant. When you attended our office, your concerns were listened to and the limits of our role were explained. In situations involving disputes or police matters between a lodger and a tenant, we do not have the legal authority to intervene. We do not recognise the claims regarding our staff’s conduct. We work closely with local authorities and vulnerable clients and take such matters very seriously. If there is anything we can reasonably assist with moving forward, we are always happy to help.
