It was great experiences with Halls, especially my own with agent Kate Howells on the day I went for a viewing in Telford, Shropshire. From the first time I hit sending request for viewing to the viewing process, everything was processed smoothly and promptly. Ms. Howells also assisted me with great attitude and given thorough information about the property without me being pushed to ask such and such. She has been the best agent I have met, and the day of viewing feels so accomplishing and relaxing at the same time, considering I was the last to see the property. After viewing, I also received the landlord’s decision through Halls very quickly, only just a day after. Slow, unresponsive to our enquiries. Vendor that was selling his house with this agency told us they took 10 days to send a photographer over for which they charge extra. They emailed us a viewing slot which me missed as we expected a telephone call. Our offer was accepted at full asking price. We were ready to move and proceeding - out of the blue the agency rang to inform us another party had offered a ‘ significantly increased amount’. We were gazumped! This word comes from the Yiddish word gezumph - which means to cheat! Overcharge! Although agencies have a responsibility to inform their clients of any offers even when STC , Most agencies actively discourage gazumping as it is bad for their reputation, and is seen to be unethical.

I was born in an age where a man's word was as valid as a legally binding contract. However, my recent experience with Halls suggests that this is no longer the case.
In January of 2026, my wife and I made an offer on a property in Much Wenlock, which was being sold by the Shrewsbury branch of Halls. The offer was accepted by the vendor and so we proceeded to put our house on the market. It has been a long and difficult process, but finally after some months and many viewings we finally received am acceptable offer, which meant we were able to formally start the
Conveyancing process. It was extremely surprising and disappointing therefore, to discover that the Much Wenlock property had been sold to another buyer.
At no point in the period since we made our original offer had there been any indication or communication of a competing buyer or offer; indeed, in a recent telephone conversation with the Shrewsbury office no mention was made of any other offer, so we naturally assumed that our offer was still valid.
The operating policy of Halls with regard to this situation stands in stark contrast to our own Estate Agent, who, on receipt of the latest offer, immediately contacted another potential buyer to confirm whether they were able to match this offer.
Now we are in the difficult situation of having to find an alternative property very quickly, which is likely to be a significant compromise, or take our house off the market. So, thank you Halls, one out of five

After our offer was accepted Lilly introduced herself as our sales progressor and her service was exemplary.
