Lilly is a hero

My wife and I have just completed on our first house and I’d like to take the time to commend the wonderful service provided by Halls. The initial bookings for house viewings and offer stage were completed by Savannah and was a total breeze. After our offer was accepted Lilly introduced herself as our sales progressor and her service was exemplary. As first time buyers the process was new to us and unfortunately the communications from our solicitor left a lot to be desired, but no worries as Lilly kept in contact with us the whole way, keeping us informed of every update. My wife and I repeatedly thanked her for being the person speaking to us without chasing, including awkward conversations when delays in the chain kept our dream home on hold. Lilly is a credit to Halls and deserves recognition of the outstanding service she provided. Lilly, thank you again for your help, guidance and communication.

Excellent service

Through the whole process of selling our home Halls were excellent They kept in touch frequently, replying promptly and professionally to all communications. They were friendly and happy to spend time explaining anything we were unsure of. We frequently spoke to Hugh and Margaret who's knowledge and reassurance was invaluable. The support of our sales progressor Abbie once our home was sold STC was amazing. She kept in touch with our buyers and their solicitors to ensure progress throughout the chain continued. She provided a friendly reassuring presence when (as inevitably happens) issues arose. I feel that without this support the progress from STC to Completion would have been much slower and definitely more stressful for us.

Professional and friendly and do what they say they will do

From the moment we met Simon and Jamie we were impressed by Halls professional, but friendly approach. This approach was also demonstrated by all the staff we had contact with including Holly, Beth, Denise and, latterly, Lilly. Viewings were arranged promptly and we were given sufficient information in each case. There were no last minute cancellations and no-shows. Feedback was sought and passed on to us promptly. Once we had found a buyer, the post-sale process kicked in with Lilly and proved invaluable when faced with various challenges along the way. We would not hesitate to recommend Halls.

It was great experiences with Halls, especially my own with agent Kate Howells on the day I went for a viewing in Telford, Shropshire. From the first time I hit sending request for viewing to the viewing process, everything was processed smoothly and promptly. Ms. Howells also assisted me with great attitude and given thorough information about the property without me being pushed to ask such and such. She has been the best agent I have met, and the day of viewing feels so accomplishing and relaxing at the same time, considering I was the last to see the property. After viewing, I also received the landlord’s decision through Halls very quickly, only just a day after. Even though me and my husband have discussed and decided to put forward our application to another property than the one with Halls, it goes without a doubt to say the professionalism and swiftness of the service is absolutely top notch, and we will definitely recommend Halls to my friends and family next time they look for a home to settle in like us.

Avoid this agency!

Slow, unresponsive to our enquiries. Vendor that was selling his house with this agency told us they took 10 days to send a photographer over for which they charge extra. They emailed us a viewing slot which me missed as we expected a telephone call. Our offer was accepted at full asking price. We were ready to move and proceeding - out of the blue the agency rang to inform us another party had offered a ‘ significantly increased amount’. We were gazumped! This word comes from the Yiddish word gezumph - which means to cheat! Overcharge! Although agencies have a responsibility to inform their clients of any offers even when STC , Most agencies actively discourage gazumping as it is bad for their reputation, and is seen to be unethical.

I feel that Halls really need to…

I feel that Halls really need to improve their vetting before wasting people's time and money. I was completely upfront with my circumstances before being invited to view a property which was a five-hour drive there and 5 hour drive back, only to find that the owner had very strict criteria that I didn't meet! Perhaps it would have been better for all concerned had I known about this, before venturing out of my front door, and having my time, money, and limited energy wasted! Halls kept me on tenter hooks, not knowing what the hell was going on for a very long time before finding out I didn't stand a cat in hell's chance of renting the property. I really wish I had been informed of this in the first place! Would I waste my time with Halls ever again?. NO. Hugely unprofessional, and a very expensive experience. I have given two stars because the gentleman that showed me around the property was very nice, otherwise I would have given zero!

I wasn’t originally going to leave a review, but since I’ve been asked, I feel it’s only fair to give an honest account of my experience. Communication throughout the process was minimal. I made it very clear that, due to working away, I was relying on you to ensure the vendor had cleared all rubbish from the property before completion. I was reassured that this had been taken care of. However, after purchasing the property and attending in person that weekend, I was extremely disappointed. While I was informed that all keys had been left in the kitchen, I discovered the door had been left unlocked. This is a serious oversight, as anyone could have accessed the property and all its keys. Inside, the condition of the property was not as expected. Ceiling lights were left hanging down, and most importantly, the garden was still full of rubbish that had not been cleared. This has now left me with additional, unexpected costs. When I contacted you to raise these concerns, I was advised by the person handling my case to pursue the matter through small claims. As a first-time buyer, this experience has been far from the rewarding milestone it should have been, and instead has been frustrating and disappointing. The issues remain unresolved, and the mess is still there for me to deal with. On that basis, I feel a 2-star rating is justified.
