Stay away!

If you want he’ll for two years after buying your house from Cala go for it. Worst customer service I have ever dealt with company only want your money after they have it good luck in getting them to fix problems. All you have to do is have a look at Cala home truths on Facebook and see the amount of problems people are having with this cowboy company. Management are pathetic, not interested in helping their customers especially in Aberdeen area. And from what I hear nothing but bully’s of management who treat their staff very poorly

Don't gibe these people your money

These people are just after your money and wear you down to the point they think you will give up calling about any defects we have a fence that has a 7 inch bow in it and a twisted post that they seem to think is fine also had to have 75%of the house recarpeted due to poor fitting the living room wasnt even grippered down and bedrooms look like they were cut in with a spoon .also have a false window on the side of the house that is open with no handle to close it and no insulation behind it leaving a cold spot on the interior wall and used the old cutting blocks behind. Every time you call they go back on everything they say ... and cala pass you on to clarion and go back and fourth so please if you decide to buy one of there homes be prepared for abysmal service

Sales care brilliant...until you've parted with your life savings...aftersales care dire

Sales care is exceptional. Actually, pretty faultless. Potentially something to do with asking you to part with upwards of £750k, and your life savings.After sales care is in a word, shocking. Appalling. Expect to be fobbed off. Expect the stock response from the "customer services" team to say "we've passed your message on to site", and then expect to hear nothing. Expect to chase, and then hear nothing. Expect contractors to try and turn up to fix issues, but Cala not have the items available, and then not hear back until you chase again, and restart the cycle. Our doors are faulty, approx. 100 weeks ago (no exaggeration), we were told we would be having new doors fitted "next week". We are still waiting. 2 of our showers are leaking through the ceiling, so unusable. This is not a coincidence, this is poor work that Cala aren't interested in fixing. The plumber must have been having a bad day as they've also fitted all the toilet flushes upside down. Our boiler can't be serviced as the cabinet it is housed in was built incorrectly. It basically has to be demolished to allow access to it.Gutter clips are cracked and broken. Need fixing, still getting no response.I'd love to say our experience is unique. But it's not. Our neighbours have all had the same experience and frustrations. Exceptionally frustrating and completely unacceptable.

Horrible Customer Service Experience !!

I bought a CALA home in Dec-2020 and the heat pump was not functional from day-1. The sales team knew about it, I raised it within first few days with the site team and finally with customer services. Even tried escalating it to next tier. It's been almost 1.5 year & I am still chasing their customer service team. The unit has not worked a single day since we moved in. I have been passed on between different people & the issue is still not resolved. This is despite relevant legislation in Scotland to have a green energy source in new build houses.Their customer service and local site team is horrible to deal with. We have a WhatsApp group of residents in our pod & everyone is complaining as to how they are dealing with snag list & complains. I have still items on snag list not addressed. We are now thinking to make an online forum to raise the issues & awareness and apprise any potential buyers of the pitfalls so that others can benefit from our experience. I would urge someone to seriously look into this. I am happy to be contacted if any further feedback is needed.BR5 Months on, the issue is still not resolved so what was the point of sending an email to CALA group !!! Or is that a standard reply for all reviewers ?

We brought our house nearly two years ago 'off plan' after being shown a 3D model and diagram of our development, the house we selected had a beautiful green area with a pond which was to be our outlook but what we got was a 'swale area' which manages the water run off from our part of the estate. To say it is a total 'eye saw' is being generous, it is completely overgrown with weed and standing stagnant water, it's full of builders rubble, dead soil which nothing grows on, rubbish including old beer cans and cloths, flies, mosquito's and the smell is just plain nasty. It also is a health and safety accident waiting to happen. If Cala bothered to reply I'm sure they would say it's up to someone else to clear the rubbish, but if it looks like a total tip in the first place people are going to treat it as such.Although I'm not in construction myself I would say that whoever designed / built this swale had totally never done one before and had absolutely no idea what they were doing, on one part they have used sandbags as part of the structure, these bags have split and spilling their content after only 6 months, how are they going to last the next 20 / 30 / 40 years. we have phoned countless times, emailed countless times and have had minimal response with people either off sick / on holiday / day off / on training or just left the company etc etc etc one excuse after the other. My words unfortunately can't describe how bad this thing really looks, it is that bad ! Although Customer Service is polite the empty promises say more. Unfortunately actions speak louder than words and the actions are not forthcoming!!

Buyer beware… do you homework!

We have had over 600 snagging issues having moved in two years ago, some of which were a safety issue for our young children.From our experience, site managers are incentivised to get homes finished quickly and get people moved in, which meant that there were a lot of issues with the home. Snagging work has been completed multiple times as work of sub contractors is not monitored (our mastic has been done 6 times!). We are in our second/third water tank, and once part of the garden was fenced in a completely different style (for no reason).I’d strongly recommend visiting a completed site and talking to new homeowners before making a decision about purchasing a Cala home. Also do your research, check out Facebook pages about Cala and ask members of the group for their experiences (they will be happy to share with you).I would be very careful when buying a Cala home, and I would recommend contacting the CEO (Kevin Whitaker) directly if you have any issues with site/customer services (that I feel have been very rude to us). You can find his email address online. However, if you do pursue, you could likely be regarded as a ‘problem customer’ for simply standing up for your legal rights and holding Cala to account for the standard that you were sold. Deeply sad experience for what was a once in a lifetime purchase for us.

Shoddy aftercare

Shoddy aftercare - complaints having to be escalated and still refusing to cover our end of defect inspection, after they cancelled it due to fuel shortages. We have been in the property since March 2021.Just passed between different people and departments with no one taking responsibility.

Cala homes customer services keep stating they will remedy defects, but they do not.

I note with great anger all the instances in recent reviews where, like with me, Cala customer services has kept on promising it will carry out long overdue remedial works, but simply does not do it. It is unscrupulous, unfair, low behaviour, causing great stress and upset to countless innocent people who handed over good money in good faith.This is what Cala states in it's Customer Services Charter:"Care is a philosophy that we live and breathe every day.Here at Cala, we’re committed to ensuring that you receive the highest standard of service and quality of product.Besides taking pride in our design we also take great pride in our customer service".Cala knows it does not do what it states in its Customer Charter. Does that mean the Charter is deliberately written to give people a false, misleading sense of security before they pay up? What is the definition of fraud?To those affected, I recommend you contact your MP because ours is taking an active interest in how we are being treated.Take plenty of photos, keep records, cc in your MP to all and any correspondence.To those browsing through Trustpilot to see if Cala Homes is a builder worth buying a house from, trust me, they are not. Walk away.I note the reply from Cala today.Pathetic and meaningless- they will "look into the issues".They have had a long time to do that, why haven't CS remedied defects that are months old?Like I wrote, cc your MP and keep all records.
