GoogleAbsolutely avoid The most unprofessional and unhelpful letting agency I think I have ever encountered. Our experience with Butters John Bee has been appalling from start to finish. Calls and emails have repeatedly been ignored, sometimes for months, and we have then been told that they have “no information” about issues that we had already reported and chased multiple times. The complete lack of communication and accountability is frankly unacceptable. Maintenance issues were left unresolved for months, despite being reported. There was very little urgency or concern shown, and we were left feeling as though tenants simply aren’t a priority once the rent is being paid. Unfortunately, the problems continued when we tried to leave the property. We were not provided with the correct information regarding the notice requirements, and despite repeatedly trying to contact them and clarify the situation, we were ignored for months. We were then left dealing with the consequences of information and communication failures that were completely outside of our control. What has been particularly disappointing is the complete lack of care or helpfulness throughout the process. From our experience, it genuinely feels as though their primary concern is collecting the rent, rather than the welfare, circumstances or concerns of the people actually living in the properties they manage. A letting agency should communicate with its tenants, deal with maintenance issues promptly, provide accurate information and actually be willing to help when problems arise. Unfortunately, we experienced none of this consistently. We have spent far too much time chasing emails, making calls and trying to get basic answers to issues that should never have become this difficult in the first place. If you are considering renting through Butters John Bee, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Based on our experience, avoid them at all costs.

GoogleAs a landlord with several rental properties across the Northwest, I have experience working with several letting agents. Unfortunately, my experience with Butters John Bee (Crewe) has been by far the most disappointing. Communication has been consistently poor. Basic enquiries often go unanswered, responses are significantly delayed, and obtaining even straightforward information has proven unnecessarily difficult. From my experience, there appears to be little emphasis on customer service or timely communication. The most consistent response I have received has been an automated "out of office" email. I have had to give up waiting for a response to a deposit enquiry I made a month ago with Natalie. What appeared to constitute a "swift response" in their view was typically in the region of 72 hours - if they responded at all. I was left questioning whether the business has any meaningful customer service KPIs or response time standards in place for staff responsible for client relations. Managing a rental property is a huge investment, and landlords deserve an agent that is responsive, proactive, and accountable. Based on my experience, I could not possibly recommend BJB Crewe. There are far better managing agents available, and I would strongly encourage landlords to explore other options before entrusting their property to this branch.

GoogleMy confidence in Butter's had been damaged in the first half of 2026. I had many problems contacting and communicating with the Hanley branch letting department. I had no progress reports of extensive repair work carried out at the property I let and transfers of rent payments by tennants to me were late. However, a recent visit to the Crewe office and discussions with Natalie Tunnicliffe have restored much of my faith in the organisation. She promptly rectified the problems and provided me with the infomration I needed. My hope is that such professional service will continue.
