TrustpilotLiars and Scam Artists
Bovis Homes have lied to me, misled me and been the worst company I have ever dealt with. They have missold me a Leasehold on a HOUES!! They never respond to my complaints. They are rude and 12 months since "buying" my house they have been useless. To date I am still awaiting a response to my complaint to them!

TrustpilotAbsolutely shocking aftercare
Absolutely shocking aftercare. West Midlands customer care are truly awful, no record of previous calls, 8 days to pass on my complaint, for which I followed their complaints procedure, promises to call back - they don't. Logged a fault with electric switch, it took them 3 weeks to log it with the contractor - they blamed the contractors email for the delay. The contractor was booked in for 5 weeks after I logged the issue, I take time off work, the electrician calls to say he will be 45 mins and....No show. Logged an issue with ground maintenance in July...got a reply today saying they'll let me know when they have an update! Pxxs poor..don't buy off these people unless you want to waste time chasing silly little issues that they clearly don't give a damn about, because they've already got yr money.

TrustpilotRecently moved into our new home
Recently moved into our new home. Was given the full speech. We’ll do everything for you, whatever you need just ask. Absolute shower of s**t. Trying to get the simplest of issue resolved is an absolute ball ache. Book in contractors who don’t turn up. Log defects to site manager, who just couldn’t give a damn. Having previously had a new build redrow, I’d definitely never use bovis again. £440k house you’d of thought you’d of been looked after a little. Especially with the lack of building on the site. Save your money. Don’t buy from bovis.

TrustpilotOnce they have your money you don't exist anymore
Once they have your money you are ignored and treated as a second class citizen. Everyone expects snags in a new build, what we didn't expect was to be ignored, called liars and to have to fight to get even urgent items such as leaks sorted out. You are no one to them once you have taken possession of the property. Beware, the home you fell in love with will soon cause you so much stress and time, and the whole blame lies with this developer.

TrustpilotPANTS developer. BEWARE.
Oh dear, where does one start. Bovis Homes is, I’m afraid, unfortunately not customer focused at all, and across the UK have an unprecedented catalogue of complaints. The faults, some of them massive, in many of their new build houses, including mine, are disastrous to the extreme. Having been fortunate enough to experience a new build house for the fourth time, there is no doubt in my humble opinion, Bovis are the worst. Even professionals are now concerned and it would appear are setting the pattern for an ombudsman to protect the purchaser. Badly needed in the case of Bovis Homes.

TrustpilotBUYER BEWARE
BUYER BEWAREDeceptive Sales and MarketingWe were looking at the Ribbans Park development in Ipswich and wanted to buy in a privately-owned part of the development. After reserving, we found that a number of properties on the road had been sold to an affordable homes company ten months before. When we had originally asked a rep to circle all of the shared and affordable homes on the development, these were not circled, leading us to believe at the time that they were all privately owned homes.Details of the homes going to an affordable homes company were not in the marketing brochure or site plan. When we asked the sales reps directly about two properties opposite to ours, we were told they were privately owned. When we checked on the Land Registry the homes had been bought by an affordable homes company. When I complained to the rep I was told that "we do not have to point out which houses are affordable and/or shared ownership". They may not have to do so legally, but I find the practice very deceptive and dishonest. Bovis obviously doesn't care about its reputation. People are unable to make an informed decision about a purchase on a development as Bovis and its reps aren't being honest. To add further insult ,after wasting a lot of my time by not being honest, Bovis tells me that I have to wait 28 days for the reservation fee to be refunded. Now I see where all of the bad reviews are coming from. We have bought a lot of new-builds over the years but we would never buy from Bovis.

TrustpilotThey are a 4* builder for a reason...
I'd like to say it all started so well, but it didn't...- Constant miscommunication in terms of spec for the property, including going through engineering designs for another property (not mine!) prior to exchange - Terrible build quality with a host of snags including insulation left exposed externally, poor cosmetic finish to walls/surfaces, a faulty hob which was an upgrade and took 7 weeks to replace, an upgrade for a built in wardrobe was 4 weeks late, a pile of rubbish left under worktops to discover and finally ineffectual sound proofing hence I'm typing this at 2am as next doors late night netflix and chill have kept me up.- The reluctance as a company to go an extra yard, let alone the extra mile! I've had to sort out communal bins for our block as Bovis didn't bother, fight for car parking discs to save residents having their spaces parked in and even fight to have door numbers provided (which wasn't in Bovis's budget apparently?!)- Setting up things like Sky and Internet have also been a nightmare due to Bovis not ensuring they had the correct infrastructure in place to support them.In summary, Bovis have done little but make life a little grey since purchasing the flat in June. If i had my time again, I would absolutely not buy a property from them, and plead you to look elsewhere!

TrustpilotOne star too many...
They do not deserve one star.Went through the whole process of buying our dream home. I changed jobs and the lender put a caveat that the completion date would be six weeks later than planned - all agreed with the chain. Bovis sold to someone else and let us know by phone... no word of another plot, an apology or talk of our refund back.Have submitted a full complaint 48 hours ago and I’m still to receive an acknowledgement. To us this highlights the financial difficulties Bovis are in must be worse than they are letting on. They had to sell off land to Kier on the site we were purchasing on as they had ‘run out of money’ alarm bells should have rung then!!

TrustpilotDecember is Bovis year end based on previous years the house will be rushed and of poor quality.
December is Bovis year end, this is when bovis complete most of their houses to achieve the numbers and profit for the stock exchange and share holders, more so than at any other time Bovis quality has in the past year's dropped in this period , as their only interest is getting the house to a point where it can be handed over what ever the issue that is left, this situation has been acknowledged by Bovis previously, which is easy to admit, but has ultimately left thousands of purchasers with years of upset and torment. I would advise that nobody accepts a house purchase at year end, it will be rushed and of poor quality based on all previous years, the sites will be muddy and with out street lighting, and of poor quality not the best result when you have committed your life to pay off the purchase. With the slow down of the housing market and the current uncertainty of the housing market, if you do not have to purchase now it may prove prudent to consider what may happen to house prices, from 2007 to 2009 the last down turn in the housing market, Bovis discounted their house prices by 45 percent, as a result individuals that had spent 400k on a house found their neighbours had paid a little over 200k for the same house less than 2 years later. The reviews that individuals have posted are correct and possibly some what reserved and indicate a small snap shot of the problems that trusting purchasers have been left by Bovis, Bovis will push hard for completions and promise that all aspects of the house will be completed in their entirety, which is not correct as purchasers have found to their detriment and once the house purchase has completed and Bovis staff have received their bonuses, bovis staff immediately go quiet when you raise any issues. For trusting year end purchasers you will find that your completion dates moved forwards to grab the money as soon as possible, therefore reducing the build quality as the house will be rushed, purchasers please be aware.

There doesn’t seem to be a zero star rating? I don’t rate Bovis at all. We’ve had a nightmare first 3 years of our long awaited retirement! Hoped to finally get out of the frying pan of stress only to jump into the inferno that is Bovis customer (couldn’t ) care (less!)Snags are one thing, they have sorted most of those, but actual building defects that will cost real money? Not a chance! Bouncing floors that cause everything to rattle, cracked tiles where the floor has moved, wall mounted floating toilets not secured properly so tiles cracking on the wall. Insulation inside to prevent sounds carrying from the bathroom and toilets. These things have been photographed so many times by so many Bovis staff, all agreed in principle but then deliberately “forgotten!” Don’t go near this awful company if you value your sanity and your hard earned money!!!

TrustpilotBovis!?! More like Bogus!!!!
We moved into our bovis house 22 months a go & were initially very pleased with our purchase; the main selling point being that it was freehold. However, having lived in the property for nearly two years we've noticed more & more thing that were clearly rushed; fixtures & fittings not installed correctly, shoddy paint work, uneven walls & general unacceptable workmanship. They're not exactly quick to resolving issues either taking over six months (and counting) to fix our front door & over 12 months to agree there is an intermittent leak in our en-suite ( which we now can't use). They were initially very helpful until they took out money, refocusing their efforts on the next mug to take money from. DON'T BUY A BOVIS HOUSE!!! You have been warned!

Bovis Homes build quality is poor. They refuse to comply even with NHBC requirements. Instead they use intimidation and bullying tactics like loud sirens which have caused partial deafness. TrustpilotBovis Homes are deceitful.
Bovis Homes are deceitful and fraudulent, their Directors have admitted hat they hand over completed houses to purchasers that are unfinished and not to specification. Bovis homes Directors are aware that they have constructed numerous houses that have substantial faults, these faults at best could devalue these houses or at worst prevent theses properties being sold with out substantial rectification and cost, for this reason these known issues are chosen to be ignored by Bovis, leaving the purchasers with no knowledge until these faults are established in the future, at a substantial cost to the resident. The issues include none compliance to, specification, structural and British Standards.

TrustpilotFixed deductions from deposits that go against the Code they signed-up to.
I retreated from a purchase and Bovis are taking a fixed percentage from the deposit against the Consumer Code that they signed up to. The fixed deduction amount is 50% (£250 from a £500 deposit)The code that they signed-up to the Consumer Code for Home Builders that states: Deducting a fixed percentage or fixed amounts from the reservation fee is not acceptable; the developer should return the reservation fee less any reasonable costs that have been genuinely incurred in processing/holding the reservation. Effectively, the builder will need to be able to demonstrate that the costs are reasonable should the matter be referred to the independent dispute resolution service that is available under the Code.and yet Bovis says: “Bovis Homes strives to provide great customer service to its customers and deliver them a high quality home. We are proud of the homes we build and our high customer satisfaction results reflect this. The Consumer Code is a key part in providing our customers with a reassuring service as they buy from Bovis Homes and begin to live in their new home. We are a strong supporter of the Consumer Code and believe that it has been a significant contributor to the improving standards across the house building industry.” David Ritchie Chief Executive, Bovis Homes Group PLCAVOID

TrustpilotI have been living in a Bovis built…
I have been living in a Bovis built home that is about 4 years old. Instead of advertising as a "luxury" home it should have been marketed as "bare bone minimum required by law."I can think of about 5 things that are simply broken. Light, fixtures, appliances, ventilation, flooring, kitchen cabinet doors, toilet installed too close to heated towel rack. Other things are just the cheapest quality. Worst quality kitchen and tile...by that I mean cheapest. Kitchen cabinet doors are not soft close....I mean even Ikea does that. Cabinet doors are starting to delaminate near the bottoms for no reason. Counter top is cheap laminate. No Doorbell or porch light!!! Is this a self-build? A tiny patio, that will barely fit one outdoor recliner. I mean come...I few pavers are not that expensive. No electric garage door opener.Tile is the absolute cheapest. They just cut corners wherever possible and take advantage of new buyers. HIRE SOMEONE TO DO YOUR SNAGGING for you close on the home.

TrustpilotAwful. Find someone else!
I really, really wish my parents didn't buy this god-awful house. They were so excited to have their dream home, but now they can't sleep well at night worrying about flooding, sewer problems, and have to waste so much precious time and energy battling their customer service and urging for something to be done. This should have been happy times for our family! Bovis has ruined it completely. Before they even moved in, the manhole covers in the front gardens flooded the whole garden.Within a week of them having moved in, the utility room flooded, soaking into the wooden floorboards of the kitchen and practically flooding almost all of the downstairs, and the carpet. This happened at about 2am in the morning. My Dad had to run outside and switch off the water pipes from the front garden. The floorboards were ruined. My Dad demanded the issue to be fixed and floorboards replaced. They sent a plumber who told us everything should be fine now - didn't do anything about the floorboards. So we left it. A month later, same thing happens. Utility room floods at midnight, this time an issue with the internal pipes. My Mum got there before the water could get out of the kitchen and switched the water off. They sent a plumber round again who thankfully seems to have fixed the issue for good. Still, this certainly shouldn't have happened twice. Upstairs, there's clearly an issue with the two ensuite toilets in that dirty water from one toilet seems to be flowing into the other. We complained, and a plumber came around who suggested to us that it was because the toilet in the other ensuite wasn't being used, so we just needed to 'give it a flush' every day. Utter rubbish. No one needs to flush a toilet regularly even if they aren't using it every day to 'keep it clean'. It wasn't a big issue though, so we left it. That's not the end of it. Having lived there for a few months now, we've been noticing a bad smell of manure around our doorway but not beyond it. The grass had also been growing differently in the lawn - with a section clearly darker than the others. We didn't think much of it - until we cut the grass recently, and saw that beneath the grass, the mud was waterlogged and swampy. Clearly, there's been an issue with the drainage and sewage system which has been helping the grass grow better in one area than the other - and accounting for the bad smell too. We emailed Bovis immediately - only to have them tell us that they sent people around to investigate and that drains were 'flowing free'. Again, utter garbage. Anyone with eyes would have seen that the grass in our garden looked an utter state. And true to their word, the very next day I returned home with my Mum to see dirty, smelly, brown sewage water flowing freely out of the manhole covers and drenching our front garden, even though there's been no one in the house! Having read online, I'm beginning to fear that our house has been built over sewage lines and pumps connected to the other houses - as there are no less than 3 manhole covers in our front garden. And yet, they had the audacity to tell us that there were no problems with the drainage! We called emergency services to be told that it could take up to 4 hours for them to arrive! They are clearly not interested in their customers. The estate we live in is new, and the houses either side of us have not been sold - and they've given up on cutting the grass too. The low standards and quality is simply shocking.
