Got keys for our Avant home 22nd December. If it wasn't for my step brother checking the wiring my spouse wouldn't be here now after he was supposed 2 move a plug socket! All the fuses have been labled up wrong, still no one round to correct it!!!!

This is our third brand new home, first and last with Avant. -Simply put: Their ability to sort out snags is far worse than any other builder we’ve worked with. -Their communication is poor. They often lose your emails and use this as a reason to not complete work. Therefore, keep copies of everything you send and follow up chats with emails. -They are unwilling to share a complaints procedure. -Their work is often rushed and not up to standard.

We moved into our property on the Lowry Park development in December 2021. Absolutely love our new home, Emily and the sales team were great guiding us through the purchase process and the onsite build team have been fantastic. Keith the site manager, is always willing to lend a hand and helped quickly resolve any snagging we've had. Even though we've been living on an active site for the past year, the builders always very considerate and keep the site as clean and organised.

If I could mark Avant a zero I would! Absolutely shambolic customer service do not care about you once you have completed and they have your money! Lived with a faulty front door for six months letting cold air in and not closing properly to be lied to and led the run around by Avant. They ordered me a new door then lost my new door then found it on another property booked me in for the replacement as they were taking my door off the property for them just not to bother turning up to do the work! Having spoken twice to the office that day to confirm! Then another door ordered and my frame now lost! After endless calls and ignored emails I finally get a date for my new door contractor turns up ti fit an internal door not my external front door! Again two phone calls to Avant left messages no one got back to me. Contractor finds a door &frame onsite & fits it but Chips back to breeze blocks on inside of door frame &internal wall surrounding the door and says it’s up to Avant to sort it &I should have been told! I now have a draft at bottom of door and top corner to be told by head of customer services to be patient and let the contractor come back to them with a quote on rectifying the work! I now have cold air coming in the house and see breeze blocks surrounding my door no key chain for security and a chipped spy hole. My home is just 7 months old. Avant are an absolute joke ignore calls and endless emails they genuinely do not care. Customer service all need retraining on to how to deal with and manage complaints instead of making you feel as though you are on the wrong s d your complaint doesn’t matter to them.

Buying a home from Avant has been a huge mistake. Since we signed on the dotted line for our home, there has been nothing but lies from Avant (when they actually bother to reply to your emails or answer their phones). Their sales staff didn't know answers to basic questions regarding the specifications, lied about ordering items and never got back to us with any questions. Once we actually got our home it was filthy. Paint all over the fittings such as shower heads, doors and kitchen units. Urine on the side of our 'new' toilet. Nails left sticking out all over the place. Cigarette butts all over the garden. Our professional snagger's report highlighted over 200 defects which Avant felt was 'excessive'. He could only report on what he found. We have had to waste an untold number of days sitting in for Avant to send people back to fix cracked bathroom tiles, damaged kitchen units, scratched shower bases and other flaws, some of which are still in an unsatisfactory state. Furthermore, one of their staff was so aggressively rude to my wife that we had to make arrangements for other people to be at home with her when he came to our house. Customer services are almost impossible to get hold of, tell contradictory lies or tell you there is nothing they can do. We have followed their complaints procedure but they don't stick to their own timeframes to deal with complaints. We even went as far as contacting the group managing director who sent us back to the customer service team. The reason we contacted him was because customer service's actions had been so unsatisfactory. We read some bad reviews before buying from them but didn't think it could be that bad. It turned out to be worse. In short, do not deal with this company. As nice as the show homes look, you will go on to experience nothing but disappointment and regret.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS we waited some time for the plot we were interested in to be released, in this time we called in regularly to the site office to be told by the lady there that once the plot is released it would be a 6 months completion. when it was eventually released last October we payed our deposit and the site lady said she would email the details. on reading the emails the same night as paying the deposit, it read that the house completion date would be 10 to 12 months later which was not acceptable to us. As we were sent Avant's policies and conditions after placing the deposit we were told we would have our £500 deposit but it would take 6 weeks, we waited 9 weeks still no refund after 12 weeks we rang the Head office and put through to someone in Sales, he sounded helpful said he had done the refund and we would see it in our account 10 days later we are now 16 days later and still no deposit. Do not deal with these builders they are not bothered about their customers.

Today was our second visit to the Waverley development, the sales advisor had kindly arranged for us to view a Tambrook which had previously been a show home.Whilst we like the design of the Avant homes we are disappointed with the specifications, there isn’t much choice on upgrades eg kitchens, doors, shower types, unfortunately the quality of products on offer are not of a very high standard in our opinion compared to competitors we have recently visited in the past couple of weeks. We understand it is fine to offer a standard product, from our perspective we are home owners of 43 years looking for our 4th property and down size slightly to cut down on maintenance. Unfortunately the quality & choices do not match our expectations.

We had a fantastic visit to the Waverley site in Sheffield. The sales lady had loads of knowledge of the surrounding area, its growth and the plans for the future. She listened to what we were looking for and was genuinely concerned around affordability and looking out for needs rather than just a sell. She left us alone to look around the showhouse but then accompanied us up the site to look at a potential plot, pointing out items of interest and answering all our questions. We left with a good view of what our next steps would be if we decided to proceed further. A very enjoyable visit.

I wouldn’t even give this a 1 star but is the only option. January 2022 myself and partner reserved an apartment with a completion date of August 2022, putting down a £500 reservation fee. Avant pushed for us to exchange contracts within a number of weeks. 10 days after this, we were told that due to having to install temporary traffic lights on the main road (which we have later found out was a lie & we’re never installed) that the completion date would be January 2023, we were given the option to pull out due to this but we’re told we would lose our deposit. January 2023 came round, still with very little work done on our apartment, we highlighted to Avant that our mortgage offer was due to expire at the end of January, due to mortgage interests rises we were going to have to pay an extra £250 a month, something which myself and partner could not afford. We made the decision to pull out of our contract. Avant then told us that we were not entitled to our reservation fee refund, even though our contract states this! I feel that Avant have acted this was as we are first time buyers. I have complained to Avant themselves over 4 weeks ago, I am yet to here back or have even had acknowledgment for our complaint! Will never use again! Disgusting!

Update:This is a copy of todays email to Avant homes. I moved in September 2020.Please be advised there is still outstanding snagging and other issues to be resolved.1. Recent rat problem, i want all the insulation lifted, disposed of safely and new insulation replaced this will reduce the chance of weills disease. The bill that i paid for at christmas i will send to you for repayment.2. The kitchen company still have not called or emailed there is a lot that requires fixed.3. My garden pebbles and fence are in and i am also billing Avant for this, i will also send a copy for these works which i had to do myself.4. The noises emanating from the back bedrooms remain and i still want this looked at and fixed as recently its been sounding as if the back bedroom will fall into the living room.5. Pictures of wiring without relevant covers that i sent, i still want this fixed now i know there are rats around.6. The back bedroom window lets in too much cold air and is ineffective, i want it replaced, 7. I emailed you pictures of bowing of the wall on stair wall and living roon ceiling. You are arranging for someone to come today at 1pm.8. I want the ramp fitted outside my property inspected as it appears to be crumbling.9. I want the radiator cap that is missing from the downatairs toilet put on. Part of the snagging from when i moved in.10. I want the window company back to look at the bi fold doors as with the recent cold snap they are letting in cold air even with the vent closed or open.This list will go on trust pilot and progress and the list made if any.

We have had nothing but issues since we moved in in October 2015. Three major leaks (one prior to us moving in!). That is just for starters. Our boiler is constantly loosing pressure each and every plumber how comes out questions the location of the boiler and water tank, separated as they are by two floors. We recently put in an insurance claim for what we thought was water damage after our washing machine leaked. Turns out that was not the issue. After knocking a hole in the tiles in the downstairs toilet the plumber found a leaking pipe. His conclusion - it’s been leaking since the house was built.

Moved in May 2022. 8 months later, still waiting for our snag list to be completed. We really love our home but from day one has been so stressful. Our home is beautiful but the customer service is terrible. We had a large snag list, very lazy building from the company including chips out of our flooring, scratched windows and bifolds, lights off centre, a dishwasher and sink that wasn’t even connected to the pipes and leaked into the kitchen. Our kitchen extractor is not even wired into an outside vent, leaving so much moisture in our kitchen when we cook. The list goes on. Still waiting for many issues to be solved. Even after 3 formal complaints we are no further forward. Customer services don’t seem to care. The site team have ignored our calls, voicemails and texts this new year, reverting us back to the sales team in a desperate attempt to complete our snag list. We have continuously given false promises, we were assured everything would be done by Christmas and we are now nearly February. Simply don’t know what else to do.Nevertheless, beautiful open plan living, in a great location. We love our home however not the stress that it has brought.

Was busy with previous appointment but looked around show home alone and was impossible to scale to size of house we was looking at. Finish was poor on some key stuff too and with no one to chat with was hard to ask why that was left looking so ugly. Went outside to look at house next door and up where plot may be and then left as pretty sure it’s not right for us. Never been in a show home before but after reading online about what to expect I suppose I had high expectations.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!! I’ve been in my property for 10 months now and all I can say is once they have your money they really don’t care. Communication is zero, you’d get more sense out of a new born baby! The quality inside is poor and they will try and fob you off constantly, it’s takes a lot of nagging to get absolutely anything from them, and I’m not saying this would be them actually fixing anything. Just getting them to agree to an issue is like pulling teeth, in fact having my wisdom teeth extracted was a less painful, better experience. If I could hand this house back and get my money back I would instantly. I was told about 6 different items that were ‘standard’ specification by sales which I found out weren’t after the purchase had completed. When queried, I was told this is what you get. It took me complaining and escalating to get one of these rectified, the others are still outstanding. The site team ‘apparently’ didn’t know when I was moving in so that’s why my property wasn’t complete nor quality checked as I’d been promised. But oh wait, why were the company chasing me and my solicitor to ensure the completion date they set was met! A never ending list of snags which don’t get dealt with, no updates, can’t get through on the phone and contractors who don’t contact you. Oh and when you do eventually have an appointment booked, no one shows up because they’ve changed the date without telling you! They didn’t even lay the concrete floor level and then wanted to start drilling it up after my carpets in adjoining rooms had been laid (thankfully I chose an external company to Avant for my flooring!) The latest saga was a tap which was so hot it burnt you when it was set to warm, according to the plumber there was nothing wrong and ‘it is what it is’, his words not mine. The second one is dry verges hanging off, these are the edges of the roof. Apparently, according to the site team it was ok to leave these over Christmas as they weren’t a health and safety risk as they are plastic….. this is a two storey property so if they fall and hit someone or something I’m sure there will be damage. This is the utter ridiculousness of this company. I could write a book with the number of issues that weren’t addressed appropriately or timely.

Nothing was too much trouble and he took the time to explain t he different houses in our price bracket along with the buying process and extras available. He even booked us an appointment at another site so we could see the house we are interested in. 1st class experience.
