STAY AWAY scammers!!

STAY AWAY! Would give 0 stars if I could. I had the worst experience with this letting agency and have recently found nice flats to rent and seen it’s by them and completely avoided. Let me talk you through my experience. Firstly, when we paid the deposit and told we got the flat we started buying furniture as it was a completely unfurnished flat. After buying everything a few weeks till we moved in we were then told that they had found someone else last minute and decided they would rather they had moved in rather than us. OBVIOUSLY kicked up a fuss and they apologised and agreed to give us the flat. When move in date arrived, I went in to collect the keys I was waiting for 2 hours in the waiting room for them to get everything organised even though I came at the time they told me to come. When I finally got the keys I left and I was maybe 15 minutes into my walk on my way to the flat when I was grabbed (literally) and told they gave me the wrong keys, which is fine, mistakes happen. They apologised and offered me a lift to the flat for their mistake, but then took away that offer and said they couldn’t so I had to walk... again. When I got to the flat the grass was extremely overgrown in the garden, the floorboards were dirty, there was wee in the toilet that hadn’t yet been flushed and the floors just generally sticky. I took pictures and phoned up letting them know the issues. There was also lots of vases, cups and items left by previous tenant. A few months later a woman arrived at my door claiming she was had previously lived at this property and had left a few items in the kitchen and requested to pick some of it up, which I was fine with. Let me reiterate it was my first time moving out so I didn’t know what was the norm, I just assumed that these things often happen. I gave her my number as requested so she could pick up the rest of her items when she was next in the area. Well, 10 months down the line my flatmate decided she was going travelling, and DJ Alexander stated that I could not have another tenant replace her, I would have to move out ALL my furniture for one week to move back in and re sign everything, but we could also be rejected. Wasn’t worth the hassle would have loved to stay but was not worth holding furniture in storage for a week to move back in so we just moved out. Later we received a bill for a total of £560 for cleaning charge and charges because of the overgrown garden... the garden is literally overgrown in the pictures of the flat on the website and was like that when we moved in. They charged us for stains and things left over that the previous tenant left and never picked up, which PROVES there was no check out after she moved out otherwise they would have charged her for that??? Anyway just the worst experience ever I’m completely scarred and I’ve probably left out a tonne of other things but please avoid at all costs. Scam of a company.

A positive experience!

The process was smooth and fast with assistance from the agents every step of the way. I had viewings with both Eilidh & Blair and both agents were really lovely and professional. As the agent of the property I took, Eilidh has been fantastic to communicate with, responds really quickly and very happy to answer any questions. Rachael handled the tenancy agreement and documents, and was also very helpful and professional. Overall I am very happy with DJ Alexander’s services. I would definitely rent with them as the agent in the future.

As always, my experience with DJ Alexanders has been first class. Donna Baird showed my client and I a lovely flat at Brandfield Street today and was extremely helpful and friendly. She went out of her way to tell us everything about the flat and was very knowledgeable, giving us information about the surrounding area and the application process. In my opinion, Donna then went above and beyond negotiating an offer from my clients who have pets. Donna made sure everything was in place to provide the landlord with reassurance about the pets behaviour and the suitability of my clients. I would have no hesitation recommending DJA as excellent agents and Donna does them proud with her proactive help, friendly and professional manner.

From our initial viewing right through to property check-in David has been excellent. From Satisfaction to Frustration: Poor Service and Communication at DJ Alexander

We were initially very satisfied with the services provided by Tay Letting. However, our experience took a significant turn for the worse when operations transferred to DJ Alexander. Problems arose when our long-term tenant vacated the property. The end-of-term report failed to include substantial repair expenses, which could have cost us hundreds of pounds. When I raised this issue with the agent, they challenged the photographic evidence I provided. Only after persistent efforts on my part was I able to secure the appropriate compensation. Communication throughout this process was appalling, with a complete lack of urgency and responsiveness from DJ Alexanders representative.

The incompetence of the agency and…

The incompetence of the agency and their staff is absolutely appalling. I’ve been renting through them for about 2.5 years now and this will be the last time once I found another property. I’d suggest anyone to stay away from them if you value your time and money. The repairs are taking months to be completed the joiners they work with lack of competence to even get the smallest repairs completed. I have reported a few small issues almost 3 months ago and yet nothing has been done. Even when you submit the repair request they have a nerve to question if the repair is necessary such as replacing a mouldy shower sealant after living in the property for almost 3 years. I have also reported an issue with the rats outside the property last year and they said that nothing can be done about it because the SOURCE is another office building, which is a few meters away. This is not only a very unpleasant issue but also it can be very dangerous as rats can carry many sort of diseases. I never thought that living in the Edinburgh city centre and paying a massive amount of money for rent would have to deal with such problems.One of their managers should be fired for the way she speaks with customers and the lies she’s making up.I will be reporting this agency and also seek a legal advise for the breach of the contract. Absolute joke of the agency.UPDATE!I find it absolutely weird and creepy that the manager I have noted in my original review keeps looking at my profile on LinkedIn or even had a nerve to look me up in the first place after I left the review. Absolutely ridiculous how unprofessional your staff is and who you employ. I left a google review which contains the name of the manager and will be sending a letter to their head office too.
