Place is an absolute joke

Place is an absolute joke. Reported mould in our flat multiple times just to have someone eventually come out and just paint over the top of it leaving paint drops all over our flat and scratching our worktops. Then the mould obviously just came back as nothing was actually done to treat it. Reported it multiple times since and they just keep “losing” the record of us reporting it (This has been on going for years and they won’t do anything). Then our extractor fan in the bathroom stops working and they came out to inspect it only to tell us that it’s working fine, there is literally no sound coming from it and our bathroom will be full of steam for hours after a shower which obviously just makes the mould situation that much better. To add to all of this our heating and hot water has been off for three days and my wife is six months pregnant after being on hold for hours on end spread out over dozens of phone calls between Dunedin Lowather and vital energy (All of whom have absolutely no idea what to they are doing and ask us to get information from each other when it’s literally their job) we finally get told it’s been raised just to find out that Dunedin haven’t actually told vital energy anything and no one is coming. To say this company is a complete joke is an insult to actual companies that are a complete joke.

Wheatley have cut tenants hot water and heating off so that we sign a contract by minibems heating company. They are bullying us to sign this paper, the words in it are ridiculous, its been set up by a novice. I really feel for the elderly under these circumstances. I cannot get a shower this morning, energy that I paid for. The heating system does not work properly anymore, the new companies are capping them and lining their pockets with customers apathy and misery to not complain, no one wants the hassle but winters are cold here now in Broomhill flats for most.

The absolute worst housing company in…

The absolute worst housing company in Scotland. No hot water constantly. 10 times this year alone and it’s April! We got a new heating company called minibems to replace our communal heating system. Our hot water was meant to be off between 9-5 for a single day and it’s been off for two days. Lowther couldn’t care less and have asked for £45 extra in rent a month. Our flat also wasn’t wind and watertight for 4 years breaching our contract. Our oven exploded and they took 4 months to replace it and only did after we threatened to withhold our rent resulting in them bringing a new oven the NEXT day. Magic! They constantly schedule useless repairs/visits for things that do not need done like replacing fire alarms and housing visits from a housing officer who wants you to grass on your neighbours about things no one bothers about! The whole company is an absolute shambles and take full advantage of paying renters while letting folk on benefits run rampant and cause chaos. We had young men dangling out their windows threatening women walking by with disgusting acts and constant drug dealers screaming and shouting at all hours of the night. This is what mid market rent gets you these days. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

This housing is the worst of them all my mum put a bid in for a house in knightswood area for the housing officer to come up and inspect her house to turn around and tell her that her house smells and that it’s really dirty where it’s always clean and when statue to her that my mum is have treatment as she has cancer all the housing officer could say is that my mum should learn to deal with it and keep her house clean when I says that I am reporting her to the housing all she says was well I just bloody get us evicted so I ask evicted under what grounds she says give a housing officer attitude I then turn around and says u need to give her a section 28 under the housing/Landlord act and take it to court and I also add that we have evidence off the house having dampness and that repairs not getting done when ask so the housing officer walk out the house pure raging I hope that the Wheatley group get there act together and get something done about there housing officers and there service they provide tenants

Had a fly problem last summer in the common area of our flats which despite many of us phoning about several times and appointments being made (and cancelled) never got sorted. The flies then went away and surprise surprise are back this summer. Had the same process again and here we are in September with again no progress being made. Customer service extremely unhelpful and they clearly need better subcontractors. Apart from that as others have said, random bills get sent over every now and then with no more detail or evidence of what was actually done

calling Wheatly House for repair has been one of the worst experiences of my life. For over two months, I’ve had no hot water in the middle of winter. Despite countless complaints, all I get are empty promises that the repair team has been notified, but nothing ever happens. It’s beyond frustrating to be ignored and left to live in such unacceptable conditions. This place shows a complete lack of care or responsibility toward its residents. Avoid Whitley House at all costs, it’s a nightmare you don’t want to experience. Very dissatisfied

Terrible experience with Lowther Homes

Terrible experience with Lowther Homes. We’ve been waiting since February for them to fix a dangerous, storm-damaged fence. It’s full of snapped wood and exposed nails, and we have four young children between our households at risk of injury. I’ve made countless calls, been given false promises of a housing officer visit, but months later, nothing has been done. It’s not just an inconvenience, it’s a serious safety hazard. I also can’t let my dog into the garden because the broken fence leaves it open to neighbouring properties. Lowther Homes is quick to advertise new homes but completely fails to look after their existing tenants. Absolutely shocking service.

Poor Value for Money & Lack of Transparency

I’m extremely disappointed with the service provided by Lowther Homes. The common charge account fees feel excessive, and it’s very unclear what real value is being delivered in return. We are billed regularly, yet there is little visible evidence of proactive maintenance or meaningful property management.

I'm going to be upfront and give my view from a perspective that may be quite different to others who rent mid-market properties from management companies like Lowther Homes. Having rented from a Housing Association for 28 years with relatively good customer service but which years of antisocial behaviour failed to be resolved and a couple of other challenges, we needed a move. A desperate attempt on Edinburgh's EdIndex housing list meant the wait would be long. As we're a working household mid-market made sense with a speedier move. A year in and really all you're getting from Lowther Homes is a glorified key holder. 50% of repairs remain unresolved. Communication is poor, inconsistent and lacks significant knowledge of the housing stock that they look after. The Handbook was full of inaccuracies, starting with 'your housing officer will show you round your property'. Well, that would have been a good start if it had happened. The customer service telephone line and online portal are pretty useless. 9/10 they never get back to you and when they do, they have often failed to understand the issues you are raising, preferring to ignore anything that's too difficult to deal with. The stair cleaning is dreadful, every 4-6 weeks for 5-10 minutes! As for Edinburgh City Council's housing build programme, the failure isn't in the insulation, design or facilities of the new builds as these are excellent standards. What leaves to be desired is sound proofing (we've been subjected to two young children above us jumping around, sending vibrations and banging throughout our property all throughout lock down - night and day) and sub-standard finishing. e.g. unfinished outside space which is unsecure and a 2 inch gap under the front door are some examples. CEC then get media coverage spouting rhetoric via Convenor Kate Campbell as of we're somehow meant to be grateful for a roof over our heads. I can assure you, life is so much more. As a result, we shall be moving on in a few months.NegativeQuality

I would strongly recommend that you never deal with this company they have left my eighty four year old mother without water for over two weeks now after they attended a fault in the water tank in the flat above hers , we have been phoning them constantly and getting one story after another about the tenant switched the water off then they admitted they switched the water off then they needed to order a part ,the last call on Friday they stated they had no knowledge of any fault at her address , that’s after two weeks of calls and they have sent out at least three plumbers , it’s a disgrace my mother is a prisoner in her own home

Alice in wonderland invoicing and…

Alice in wonderland invoicing and accounting system. Demanding £2025 for an owner led project in a tenement building East End, that I paid 6 months ago. I have emailed, telephoned, raised a complaint to Wheatley Group. Still receiving demanding letters, made worse by highlighting it to a phone operator at Lowther last month, no, we can see there is a mistake you have paid, the work couldn’t have gone ahead on schedule had you not paid, I’ll escalate it to a manager. The result, now I’m receiving threatening letters, pay or else. Who needs this junk in their life. Does anyone reading this have a contact email at Lowther Homes Glasgow or a suggestion where to go for help? Thank you.

1 star is too much for this company

1 star is too much for this company, they take no responsibility, only interested in the extortionate fees they charge for doing nothing. I’ve been calling them for a year and a half about rubbish being left at the side of the 4 in a block by a new tenant, they are not interested, they take my calls and then nothing is done, this week I was told I could arrange a collection by the council (which I would be charged for) then they said I could report it as fly tipping, I can’t do that for fear of repercussions if she gets fined, they said that was up to me if I reported or not. I’m at my wits end.

Madness absolutely madness housing officers are legit useless promise phone calls back you'll wait months for unless you email there boss then the next day they'll phone you top tip email there boss 🤣 but don't expect the issue to be actually sorted cause it won't there repairs are a joke my 5 year old could do a better job ! There empathy and actual lack of care is not there 4 year old non verbal autistic child with learning disabilities and our toilet was overflowing with other people's sewage for months flooring had to be replaced 5 times at my cost btw ! Daughter ended up in hospital at one point due to touching the raw sewage before we could stop her guess who had to clean it despite it being a health hazard of course me cause that's definitely my job to clean up other people's shit ! Pipes under the block are extremely blocked meaning that there daft emergency team comes out power washes it down and then leaves again and a month later it's overflowing again up into my toilet and my house housing officer couldn't give a care in the world put us on a overcrowding band when we should be on a medical band so many letters of support from professionals OT speech and language gps camhs autism specialists disability social worker still not on the correct band and guess what we cant find out why cause we can't even speak to the housing officer 🤣

Zero stars would be too much!

Where to start with this bunch of unprofessional, inadequate cowboys! They charge a fortune every month for doing absolutely nothing. All they care about is getting money from you. They are holding up our moving day because they claim they haven't received paperwork from our solicitor, which she has sent, and they have the cheek to charge us £123 admin fee for closing the account! Have had nothing but bother with this company since we bought our house, and they are now holding up our chain although they have had even more money from us. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

PLEASE AVOID

PLEASE AVOID. Lived in their property 7 years in Edinburgh, most of this with no heating & no hot water with a then newborn baby to add to the situation. They sent multiple plumbers/electricians you name in a day who knew nothing about how our system worked to leave without solving anything. Handed out notice in, was cheekily asked by ‘Shannon’ upon handing my notice in when I still had a full 3 weeks left in the house if she can bring the potential new renters to the pre exit check - whilst I still lived there with a full month of rent paid. Found this very cheeky considering I was in the middle of boxes left right & centre with a 2 year old not to mention the stress of all this pre exit garbage, all at the same time. I had the house done absolutely stunning (as a previously qualified interior designer) everything was high end from the paint/wallpaper, to the door handles & sockets. Shannon told us we probably won’t get any of our £700 deposit back due to these modifications. Not to mention when I moved in I asked if I could modify they said said as long as it’s not bright colours in paining the walls in ie green red blues etc which I didn’t. I had used stunning warm grey beiges. I’m sure the new owners would have been over the moon with this all, over dull plain white. Have contacted lowther multiple times regarding my upfront paid rent which in due a partial refund for and typical - I’m being ignored. Will be taking this further. Robbing ********

CLEARING OF GUTTERS/PIPES

Lowther Homes does not merit zero star because they are unreliable. I reported clogged gutters/ pipes in the 2 story building for 2 years. The last update was a repair team sent to do the job, never attended the job. I have contacted Lowther homes via telephone call and emails. To no avail. The only people working in the building is the Glasgow city council refuse removal. The building is like a hunted place with grass growing and drying up.

Worst factors ever

Worst factors ever. If they don't want to deal with you they hang up or say, I can hear you're upset. Maybe if they managed situations more effectively they wouldn't have issues. I have now called 3 times regarding non existent quarterly bills. It's an IT issue, I'll get a patch officer to call you. Not interested in their excuses, when I am calling them to get their systems sorted. Paying a management fee but no clue how to manage. Quick to send me the wrong bill though. Absolute joke of a company and should not be allowed to operate.

AVOID LOWTHER. NO STAR. ZERO

AVOID LOWTHER., Pay building insurance to this company, reported for repair to be carried, damage to roof through storms we had, slates on stairs in garden all over, this caused water damage inside roof causing water to go into living room walls and one bedroom wall. Advised to call Davies Group, reported claim sent photographs as evidence, they need Lowther to confirm the damage was caused by storms, and that’s ehy the slates came off? LOWTHERS POLICY..QUOTE.THEY NEVR CONFIRM REASON HOW DAMGED IS CAUSED? Therefore the insurance company cannot go ahead with claim, have called them numerous times, and just been ignored, spoke to agent Mathew asked to speak to manager, was told could not do this request, I advised him I needed to speak to someone who could try and solve this problem, he TERMINATED the call. Taking the further LOWTHER. Need to be looked into if this is what happens when you request a claim? AVOID AVOID. AWFUL COMPANY NON EXISTING CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Lowther are incompetent

Lowther are incompetent and their systems are not fit for purpose. They are in cahoots with City Building ( know by decent tradesmen as Sh!tty Building). I’ve never known to have a factor with no named point of contact with a direct telephone contact. They quote and hide behind and misuse GDPR Regulations. The IOS would wipe the floor with them.
