Very bad customer service

Peter and Ugonna are very poor at customer service, Ugonna was rude and did not seem to understand english, Peter did not help in any way in fact he made things worse and said no to everything I asked. Lowther also like to charge homeowners for work carried out in tenants houses, the office also send workmen out to the wrong address, then charge the address that is on the paperwork and not the address where the work was carried out. This company is an absolute joke and no one knows what they are talking about. The customer service is so bad I would give no stars I could. VERY BAD SERVICE.

Typical slimely money hungry housing company that apparently feel as though they are entitled to be paid merely for existing, refuse to solve any issues they are contracted to and offer bogus quotes for triple the price which leaves you ending up having to outsource the repairs and pay for it yourself anyway I'm slightly confused as to what the purpose of the company is because it's certainly not what is started in the contract, would absolutely avoid and if your already a part of it get out. There is no accountability within the company dealing with them will leave you stressed and feel as though your banging your head against the wall

Did not get my issue resolved. First member of staff Tia was rude. Second member of staff John put me through to some sort of renters damp line. Third staff member Adam didn’t listen to me at all. Review relates as a homeowner to Lowther. Useless. No one appears to be interested.

No good

Cheeky is what I would say. No response to emails also. No stair cleaning, no communal back green cutting, no interest.

both entities lowtherhomes and Wheatley…

both entities lowtherhomes and Wheatley Group are absolute scammers. as a owner in a building factored by them I'm having issues with the tenant above, they own the flat and factor the building. the tenant keeps on flooding the bath causing my ceiling to leak, I have provided proof, paid claims and provided proof on all occasions and they refuse to assist, make excuses and lie to avoid any responsibility. complete scammers who give you a reference number, say sorry and hang up.

The Wheatley group are a public organisation when they want government money and a private one when it comes to dealing with customers. There is no culture of customer service and their staff are remarkable at finding policies that justify them doing nothing.

Communal Pipe blown out in my house, 5x3 inch hole in the internal pipe. Been flooded twice in 4 hours, called to have up the repair to be told there were out 2 hours ago and looked at the external drain... the literal pipe IN the house had blown out. They said they'll log a new call and TRY ti get them back out within 24 hours.... we pay hundreds a month for upkeep and maintenance to parts of this building we dont even have access to. And their shoddy repair work has led to this mess and we just have to sit here and wait til they can come look at it. Also this is the state they left it in a year ago, apparently its up to us to fix the mess they made in out house when they last needed access to their pipe. Absolute joke.

Been without a toilet for over a day

Been without a toilet for over a day. Plumber turned up day later and said not me needs drainage company. Drainage company come and say we can't do it we are not allowed to remove toilet. Need the plumber to do that I will phone it in but you will likely need to sign a waiver. Wait 3 hours and chased them to be told its not a communal issue get it sorted yourself. Factoring policy needs to be reviewed as this just feels likely paying for nothing

I wish I had heeded the poor reviews and never rented from this mob. You cannot speak to your landlord it is all through a call centre. They only way the landlord speaks to you is when you threaten to withhold rent. I have massive cracks around the edges of my ceiling in every room. Twice decoraters have been booked to come out twice never turned up. With no phone call or explanation. Do not rent from these people. Oh and they increase your rent by 7% each year more than twice the rate of inflation

I have been a tenant of DGHP for ten year's and they changed name to Wheatley Group South. Over the past ten year's life has been hell under DGHP/Wheatley there has to be an official investigation by HM Customs and Excise, and Inland Revenue into the affairs of business and financial affairs and false representations on the state of properties. Many properties are not fit for renting some are 200 years old. Communal areas in ethnic groups or cultural education background's is a disuster waiting to happen across the uk as we have seen in every city in the UK. However' in the case on the Wheatley Group South formerly DGHP, Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership there is a degree of recklessness towords people with mental health problems and physical disabilities. There is just no respect and no privacy. While life is great in Bearsden, life is hell in DG16 5EJ, reading between the lines! Soical Housing is hell in Scotland, they most certainly ''they know how to cover up'' to protect themselves. There is no accountability' and the Scottish Housing Regulator and the Housing Ombudsman is not fit for purpose. PSK

Lowther

Honestly, looking for a mid market in Edinburgh is hard, I applied and applied but got nowhere, until Lowther offered me a place, I accepted it.It was a nice new build place, no need to turn on the heating even though it was ground floor, building was solid and the neighbors all fine.Few issues, door latch wouldn't secure from inside, they sorted it within a few hours of reporting. Fridge had a few cracks in it and bit of discolored flooring, all which was fine. For what I was paying for city centre, I wouldn't hesitate to go back. I only moved out due to being offered other accommodation with a bigger provider and a bigger place.Kimberley was a good help whilst being there with them.

Avoid like the plague Lying and useless housing officers and the managers are just as bad. As long as they are getting they’re rent they don’t care about your housing conditions or needs, they ignore all correspondence and they think they are above the law. Poor poor service and poor poor communications. The are too big a company and are unable to cope with demand and customer support and care. Do yourself a favour and find a smaller and more importantly a considerate housing option as these guys couldn’t give a monkeys.

Probably the most incompetent organisation I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Multiple problems and unresolved disputes over a 5 year period of living in a block of flats where this company manages or should I say fails to manage the factoring of communal areas. How this company can continue to operate while delivering such a poor quality and unsatisfactory level of service is baffling.

An excellent Factor

Every time I contact Lowther Homes the team who answer my call are friendly, reassuring and professional. Whenever I have needed work carried out - usually on my ageing boiler (it predates Lowther taking over factoring the property) someone arrives on the same day or on an agreed date a few days away. I have never been inconvenienced by the work schedule.

When I moved into a Wheatley property eight years ago, I remember a neighbour saying 'you can almost smell the contempt they have for us'. How right she was. How can you possibly provide a decent level of service to vulnerable customers when you change the officer four times in one year? Health and safety- they like do bang on about that but their grasp of the concept is just plain dangerous. Failed to test fire fighting equipment for years. No pat testing communal washing machines. A dead tree that has blown over and is leaning dangerously against a tree in a neighbouring property. Oh and then there was last year when they ignored our calls and concerns about a neighbours behaviour which escalated and resulted in him stabbing a neighbour. They struggle with the concept of cyclical maintenance. They finally painted part of the building (externally so it looks good) but didn't have enough money to do a proper job. Nothing to do with the excessive salaries paid to your leadership team? I mean what sort of organisation are you? You can't get the basics of housing management right but you can pay your CEO £960,000. Why is that?

Unacceptable Impact Noise and Structural Vibrations

I’ve been renting a flat through Lowther Homes for a while now, and frankly, the build quality is shocking, it feels like these places are made of cardboard. The way noise travels is bizarre; we hear every single thing from the neighbors above us. Even their footsteps are enough to make our ceiling and furniture shake.

Lowtherhomes services are awful

I regard Lowtherhomes as a terrible accommodation provider. My cooker stopped working while I was making food for my family yesterday. When I called them to explain the situation, I was shocked by their total lack of empathy. They told me, they would come to repair it in a week's time. My plea that my children are young (aged 3 and 8) and feed on strict and specialized diets fell on their deaf ears. I am left unhappy and financially burdened by the only option of eating out for a week. How could they expect my family to cope with this dire situation for a whole week? Their plan to come for the repair after a week was casually made with no tone of hope or the slightest measure of human feeling and prioritization of customer welfare. Their actions left me perplexed and emotionally broken. They turned down my advice of getting a private company to fix it and deduct the cost of repair from my rent with a wave of the hand. I do not know what to do anymore and their disregard of a loyal customer of about 30 months is totally unacceptable.

Lowther is one of the worst property…

Lowther is one of the worst property management companies. This company does not adhere to government laws regarding its services. They never provide quotes before commencing a job or seeking approval from property owners. Additionally, they require payments to be made within an unreasonably short timeframe. There is no detailed breakdown of costs for each repair job; only a list of completed tasks is provided. Recently, we discovered that one invoice was issued to two buildings for the exact same total amount of £4,000, which is unquestionably fraudulent. The job was not worth £4,000. The cleaning services they offer are of very poor quality, and their customer service is also subpar.

Factor my property and failed to fix my roof or acknowledge that its still leaking after incorrect works were done.Lowther homes are owned by Wheatley group who also owns City building who lowther use to do works on properties they factor. Its a racket where they do incorrect/poor work and then when you complain they say nothing is wrong. Funny how wheatley group rule in favour of wheatley group and there is absolutely no recourse other than to take them to tribunal which costs more money.

Irregular invoices , not requested job, repairs made to other buildings

Once again this company start works that have not been approved by all the landlords/landlady. They don't send any estimates costs, and after they are demanding payments in a very short period, in 2 weeks usually.

Deeply disappointed and disgusted

Absolutely disgusted by this mob. Still getting threatening letters from them regarding my dad’s property 18 months after he sadly passed sway in Dec2023. The house was sold in October 2024 and all monies owed to them were settled through the lawyer. The last letter I got was put through my door by the new tenants saying my dad owed over 800 pounds and if he didn’t pay he would be taken to court. This is extremely upsetting and distressing to myself and my sister. We informed them straight away of my dad’s sudden passing and yet they are still chasing us for money when the final bill was settled. This company is not fit for purpose and should be removed and replaced by a more reputable company
