Good to start but disappointing towards the end

As a landlord I used Quantum for lettings for approximately 5 years. As other reviews have said, in the beginning everything was good but over time it deteriorated and became complacent. As I ended renting out my property Quantum just became unpleasant and unhelpful which showed their true colours. They are a small firm and that’s how they operate, but there are other estate agents with a better reputation and customer service. If you are involved with them, when the emails start taking longer to reply, services take longer to get provided, and charges are made for trades without prior notice (leaving you with no rental income that month) I would suggest moving on from them. I would also advise that going into agreement with them that you negotiate your own cleaning service after tenants have left. On this occasion it was nearly three weeks before Quantum appointed cleaners attended and still the property had to be cleaned again.

Good start, horrible end

My wife and I moved into a property through quantum and found them extremely helpful at first, a couple of years later I found them to be extremely unpleasant and at the end completely horrible. When we first moved in, we worked with a lady called Deana, she was most helpful and always had the time for us. Anyway a few years down the line and Deana was no longer our point of call with any issues. We were working with a lady called Emma, well where do I start. When we were informed that our heater was been replaced, we was like ok heating would be great as its new, well the heating was great, but the way the guy fitting the heater left my property was appalling. When we returned home from a day out to leave the guy in peace to replace our heater we found our sofa in the middle of the living room, our shoes from the front door slung in the living room and left over tiles from the old heater all over the kitchen and garden where my 10 month old child would crawl. When I rang to Emma from quantum about this let’s just say I've never had anyone speak to me like that before or tell me my child can’t go where she would like too. Anyway, after back-and-forth chat and getting nowhere I asked to speak to the manager. Well Hazel the estate manager was no better, she explained that the heater guy left our house in the way he did as that's the world we live in these days. When I responded with shall I come to your office, move your furniture and leave it a mess, I was answered with you can’t do that. A bit hypocritical if you ask me if a builder can do it but I can’t. Anyway a few years later when my wife and I were moving out of the property, well let’s say it started nice but soon took a turn for the worst. When talking back and forth regarding our deposit, we really couldn't get a word in edge ways to a point where they demanded the cleaning companies name and number (we paid a cleaning company to clean the house before finally moving out) We then received a call from the cleaning company to say they have never been spoken to in all their time as a cleaning company. Apparently the cleaning company had done a terrible job and shouldn’t be cleaning is what I was told was said to the manager from Emma. Anyway, finally after moving out of the property and chasing for what seems like an eternity to get a figure back from our deposit, we finally got an answer. Let’s just say I won’t be using or recommending quantum to anyone.

The experience here is a key part . When first contacted quantum the expectations was the higher and the trust on state agencies was the worst as I had a lot problems with agency before I wish mention them here but let’s keep eyes on stars . AT THE END OF MY CONTRACT EVERYTHING FLOWING AND SO FAST I COULD NOT ASK FOR BETTER. So the Servicea provided OVER expectations, the agent Liz always there for us and accurately sorted out all our requests. When you move out these things makes massive difference cause when you are in busy life with thousands of issues to be sorted out nobody wants expend time on this kind of subject. Thanks again .

Great agency, very helpful people. Even though I did not end up renting with Quantum, I could not pass up on commenting on how good they have been, especially Hannah! Me and my friend had been trying to find a house to rent for weeks, and despite having the money and being fully-employed at the time, our credibility was low as we were recent graduates instead of long-term professionals. Contrary to other agencies that either did not give us enough attention or were rude to us, Quantum helped us with viewings and houses and were very helpful. What is more, the amount that they require to take a house out of the market is significantly lower to some fairly high amounts other agencies demand, which is great for people that are starting up a household. Overall, highly recommended.

I have rented a property from Quantum in York for 2 years. Although, Quantum themselves are good to deal with and have nice/supportive staff but the issues come when they just let it out and landlord is managing the property. They do not have any check and balance on landlords to know whether landlord is doing property maintenance or any other essential repairs which needs doing or repairs which are safety-critical. One of my ex-colleagues with Quantum have experienced the similar from their landlord too and this shows that so many landlords are putting Quantum’s name to shame. Renters are taking the properties out in Quantum's name. Hence, they must introduce parameters to scrutinize landlords for the above.

Massive thanks to Deana, Hazel, Hannah and the team at Quantum. We rented a flat through them for five years and they were really great. We had a stressful time trying to rent at first because we were moving from Manchester and every time we travelled to York, the property we had booked to view online went as we were driving over. In despair, we were sat in Brew and Brownie wondering what to do, when the barista suggested we try Quantum. We called in and Deana sorted us out two viewings that day, and we found a really great flat that was our home for the next five years. Also, I had to ask about my mum's cat moving in with us because of family issues cropping up literally two weeks after we moved in (yes, genuinely, it was really stressful), and because we were totally honest with them they asked the landlord on our behalf and he let us keep our Duchy cat - I can't say they can work this magic for everyone (as we were lucky to have a lovely landlord too) but they were really understanding throughout the whole process. Couldn't have asked for a nicer, more reasonable team (or landlord). Thanks for everything, Quantum.
