Do not use

Our house was on the market for over a year, but still they didn’t know basic information about our property when showing potential buyers round. That’s when they even showed them around, most of the time we had to do it ourselves as they “were too busy”.The icing on the cake? When we came to take our house off the market with them, they charged us £120 for the privilege despite our house being on the market for over a year. When we took out our contract with them, they failed to mention this which I’m told is now illegal but we’ve already paid the money.Absolute joke.

We rented a property that Gowland White was managing for the landlord in the 3 years we had to wait a year for a banister to be fitted ( which we were told by a tradesman was against the law not to have one) 6 months for a window to be fixed ( did not close property which led to a draft in the living room. 4 months for rising damp & mold in the kitchen, they didn't tell the landlord about the damp until we were moving out, Then after moving out they are trying to deduct some of our bond because there is dust on the skirting board in the living room ( which since we left there has been work men fixing the damp ) also because the shower head was moldy, If you are due to move into a property which is managed by this estate agents make sure to take pictures at the beginning and at the end of your tenancy

Delighted with my experiences of selling my house with Gowland White. Great local knowledge at valuation stage, and competitive rates for estate agency services compared to other agents in Stockton. Minor criticism that it sometimes took a while for phone calls to be answered, but team were always available and communicated well throughout the process. Having sold my property I came to Gowland White as a buyer. Jodene and her colleagues at Yarm couldn’t have been more helpful during this process. The level of service and care they provided was second to non, despite me not being their client as such. They liased with both the seller and my solicitor and kept me informed of what was, or on occasions, what wasn’t happening! At stressful time they were incredibly supportive and I would thoroughly recommend using them to anyone considering marketing their home.
