GoogleWe were tenants with them for 5 years, didn’t even bother to let us know the landlord was selling the property, never pushed for repairs to be done when reported, everything too much trouble since they took over from willow, make sure any correspondence with them is WhatsApp or emailed for proof as they will deny knowledge of it, We were given a section 21 then told we could stay beyond the date so the landlord could still get some rent till the sale went through, when we refused & moved out, the landlord helped by Martin & Co tried to keep our deposit even though they knew what he was claiming for wasn’t part of the deposit scheme, thankfully after submitting all our evidence we got the full amount back, after waiting two months for it to be resolved. So warning do not use this estate agents, we paid our rent on time for 5 years & were treated appalling by them.

No refund and left HomelessI saw a new build apartment online advertised in the Long Eaton area for a reasonable price. I proceeded to make the usual protocol- contacting the agency to arrange a viewing. The estate agent took my details and booked a viewing. When it came to the viewing, I rang before hand to confirm that my appointment was still on. It was confirmed that my appointment will be still going ahead and that the agent will meet me at the property.I made my way confidently to the property.I waited patiently in the cold and rain, eagerly awaiting to view the property.10 minutes had passed, but no sign of the estate agent.I called the Martin and Co back. They then apologised and stated that they have no record of the viewing appointment. I was absolutely stunned and shocked at the level of confusion and unprofessionism that had just taken place. Especially, when I had made an extra effort to ensure that the appointment was still on, knowing that I was coming from a long way by public transport.Martin and Co then stated that they will booked and appointment 3 days later for me to view the property.After making a complaint to the manager, I accepted their apology and agreed to booking another appointment. I had asked for an email confirmation of the appointment- which despite after two phone calls I did not receive.However, on the day of the viewing, I did get a courtesy call asking me to confirm whether I will be attending. I confirmed.I viewed the property and made an offer the following day. Fees were paid, ID's were produced and the referencing process started.During the referencing process, I had queries regarding referencing and the property. I found that the lady handling my file was very lax and and slow in dealing with things. Many occasions it took countless calls and messages for her to get back to me.She even advised me to hand in my notice to my current landlord, before confirming crucial information such as the building completion date. I stated that I did not want to put myself and my family in the position to become homeless. She advised "don't worry everything will be sorted out by then, just hand it in".Three weeks later, I received an email stating that there was a delay in the moving in date and they will confirm the new date shortly.Another email was sent a week later stating that the council had not signed off the new builds and unfortunately we will not be able to proceed with the move. We were informed that all fees paid will be refunded.As you can imagine, I was highly frustrated at the situation and also myself for not staying clear of Martin and Co from the outset. The warning signs of unprofessional conduct, unreliability and a lax attitude were present.I have sent several emails and made several calls and messages requesting for the refund to be completed and still no sign of Martin and Co refunding the money to us. I am deeply saddened, frustrated and appalled at the extremely poor service that I have received.I will be making a formal complaint and want to make others aware of this company. Please beware and stay clear.

GoogleDealt with Martin & Co for around eight years as a Landlord and recently as a seller. As a management company they dealt with our property most efficiently especially during a problematic period. The current members of the letting department have been polite and most helpful. With respect to the recent sale of our property the sales team have been excellent, very enthusiastic and they located a buyer very quickly enabling continuation of the tenancy. Would bear them in mind for any future requirements.
