Having managed an old property letting for 26 years I decided to place the renovation - much needed - and management in the hands of Rebecca Gee at Carter Jonas . She has project managed extensive work , which , although expensive was done to the highest standards and is entirely satisfactory . She understands completely what is required for a successful letting in contrast to what I in the past have chosen according to my own , perhaps antique , tastes. the work was done in a predetermined timeframe and estimates were adhered to . I can certainly recommend Rebecca as a sound adviser and am most grateful to her .

Would not hesitate to recommend!

I recently purchased my first home through Carter Jonas Fulham and I had a very positive experience from my first viewing, through to completion. A special thanks to Leo who was my agent and main contact throughout the process. As a first time buyer he shared a huge amount of knowledge and helped when I needed, and was very efficient with communication. Leo went above and beyond to try and push things through when he could, due to squeezed timelines, and this really did go a long way during stressful moments. recently completed the sale of Burnfoot Avenue with Carter Jonas and cannot thank Leo and the team enough for their support throughout the process. Leo was professional, proactive, responsive and always willing to pick up the phone and talk things through when needed. His communication was excellent from start to finish, and he consistently kept things moving during what became a complex and sometimes stressful transaction. What stood out most was that I always felt Leo genuinely cared about achieving the best outcome and was prepared to go the extra mile when challenges arose. His advice was calm, practical and honest, which made a huge difference throughout the sale. I would also like to mention Maddie in the office, who was incredibly helpful and supportive. A lax attitude and a fluid application of the law. Avoid.

I have a property and am due to renew the contract with the tenant in June. The tenant has requested that they pay 12 months in advance as they are unable to provide work references in the UK. We also have a 12 month fixed term contract due for renewal in June. I asked if this was still possible, given the new renters legislation and was assured by the branch that it was. That was a month ago. Yesterday I pushed back and requested that they double check with their legal team and, of course it will not be legal to receive 12 months rent in advance from May 1st. If I hadn’t checked, it would have been June before I was made aware. This comes after the managing agent also instructed the tenant to open my mail when I suspected that something may have been missed by the mail forwarding service. She instructed the tenant to open my PERSONAL mail, rather than apologise to the tenants for any inconvenience and then forward it onto me as I had requested her to do. She then denied that she had done this, despite having copied me into the email chain where she did it and then offered no apology for breaking the law. All in all disgraceful, with a lax attitude to landlords and a rather fluid relationship with the law.

The letting agent we worked with, Tanya Hall, was just fantastic -- a real pleasure to work with. Besides being friendly and straightforward and accommodating in showing the property, she followed through consistently at every stage of the letting process. It was (to me) a complicated process--perhaps we were a complicated case--and Tanya was always there to answer questions promptly, to reassure, and to step in to make sure the process proceeded smoothly when it looked as if it otherwise would not. It was a pleasure and a relief to feel that we were in safe hands, that there was human reasonableness instead of an irrational and inflexible 'bureaucratic system' to engage with--and a great pleasure to find when it was all done that our confidence was well-placed. I would like to share our experience with the Carter Jonas agency regarding a house rental in Whiteley. Our family wanted to rent a house, so we contacted an agent from the agency and were informed of the rental terms. We were told that our annual income had to be 30 times the monthly rent, meaning £1,750 x 30, a requirement we actually exceeded. We arranged a viewing, saw the property, and decided it was right for us. The agent told us we needed to contact the office to fill out a form regarding our details and income. We provided the information, only to be told that the requirement was actually a minimum of 35 times the £1,750 rent. We were left wondering why this was the case: was it because we are from Europe, or because we aren't British aristocrats? After all, it is just a standard housing estate, not a gated community off-limits to the common folk.

Think twice before renting through…

Think twice before renting through Carter Jonas. I signed my tenancy agreement and paid the full deposit, yet days before my move-in date they still haven't returned a countersigned agreement, despite holding both my signature and my money for weeks. The communication has been poor from start to finish, with new requirements fed to me one at a time in a way that has only delayed the countersigning. First, even though my referencing was already complete, I was told to send two ID documents, after which they would proceed with signing and send the agreement "by next week." When I chased, the goalposts moved: now I had to pay the deposit first, and only then would they send the agreement, and suddenly they could countersign earlier than a week before move-in after all. When I chased again, all I got was that they were "chasing the property management team" and "understood my situation", but no actual action. I had to chase a routine document repeatedly just to get a reply, all while depending on this timeline for my daughter's school admission. I've rented before in the UK with Tucker Gardner and Bidwells and never experienced anything close to this, an extremely frustrating process before I've even moved in. For a firm of this size and reputation, the lack of basic organisation and ownership is genuinely poor. I'll keep this review open, as the real experience is only just beginning. I'll update it regularly to reflect how they handle maintenance issues and the end-of-tenancy process.

I don’t normally engage with reviews but feel very strongly that In this instance I must exercise my right to do so. Carter Jonas Winchester were appointed and contracts signed to market our property on the 7th Jan. Unknown to us and not disclosed at the time they were also showing prospective purchasers another “black book” neighbours property that was not currently being listed!! Any market advantage completely compromised in our opinion. Their response was very defensive and was suggested it was beneficial to us and were working in our best interest! I’m sorry but it doesn’t! riding the tailcoats of our listing and presenting another neighbours property in the same small development does not constitute working in our best interest. Quite frankly a poor, un-professional service for which we have learnt the hard way! We have had to terminate contract and re appoint another agent. We have had a very negative experience with this agency, the suggestion to them that this was NOT working in our best interest was met by a defensive position, almost arrogant in its delivery. Thankfully we have now found an agent who shares our values and ideas of what working for a clients best interest means!
