I can honestly say I have never experienced such proactive attention to detail from an estate agent before and it went far beyond our expectations. As well as receiving an asking price offer on the house very soon after it was marketed, we were particularly impressed with the following aspects of the sale: - receiving full details and feedback from every party who viewed the house - being given guidance when the offers came in and Alex’s tenacity at reaching me when the four of us were in different countries and timezones -the diligent follow up by Vicky who liaised with all parties in the chain to ensure the sale progressed as quickly and smoothly as possible. She kept us regularly updated. I would not hesitate to recommend Belgarums.

I strongly urge you not to use this company. Their fees are extortinate. They lull you into a fall sense of security by telling you that you're keeping your rented home up to the required standard then bill you an astronomical price to do some minor gardening after you move out. Then the gardener took ages to give a quote. Our deposit was returned some 2 months after moving out. The landlady / Belgarum tried and did claim more money than required for our notice period. Most importantly they will side with the landlady/lord in any dispute. The person I spoke to on the phone (Tonia) spoke over me in a rude manner. They also have one landlady on their books who lets out a very poor property in the Winchester area. It is a converted garage effectively, which was only accessible via a garage door and the walls and loft contained rodents with the central heating controlled by the landlady in a way where it was only put on when she felt it apt. The home we rented suffered from damp and condensation and no central heating. Also, the landlady/Belgarum neglected the back garden and the shower was atrocious with a lack of any decent pessure. The walls internally had many cracks. DON'T USE THEM. RESPONSE TO BELGARUM'S RESPONSE - Thank you John for the chance to email. I won't though as it's all too late. I just wish to put this sorry saga behind me, like others who have used your woeful services.

We all can have negative expectations of estate agents. Belgarum belied all of them. They've been superlative throughout. This property was my late mother's. It went on the market two weeks before Liz Truss crashed the UK economy: truly awful timing. Belgarum have been open, communicative and supportive throughout the 15 months since, through several offers and one withdrawn sale-that-almost-got-there. They've been great at chivvying our buyer along, dealt pragmatically and smartly with a near-disaster in the shape of a broken chain, and at no point have I felt out of the loop or lacking in info. I don't live anywhere near Winchester. If I did, I'd not want to use any other agency. And if anyone in Winchester is looking to sell, I would say: don't look anywhere else. Belgarum really are all you need.

I recently purchased a property through Belgarum and was so impressed with the service I received. The initial viewing with Seanne was great and she managed the offers between me and the vendor professionally and with care. Once the purchase was agreed Vicky then managed the process from start to finish having to deal with 3 other estate agents and 4 solicitors. The purchase was not easy as there were two properties to sell from my side and then a rural managed estate at the top of the chain, Vicky was fantastic and managing the process and supporting us all through some challenging times. Belgarum are an excellent professional team and I really feel their communication sets them apart from other agents. Thank you Seanne and Vicky you did a super job.

I sold my house in Winchester through Belgarum in early 2013 and was so impressed with them (especially Alex) as there were problems along the way which he and the rest of the staff dealt with very efficiently and reassuringly. Earlier this year it became necessary to sell my 91 year old father's house so he could go into a nursing home. Once again Belgarum dealt with this sensitively and efficiently and the sale proceeded to completion.

Belgarum acted on behalf of the sellers of the property we were buying. But we did not find that they unfairly favoured the sellers. They were always friendly, helpful and forthcoming. When it looked as though the chain might collapse because a mortgage offer further down the chain was going to expire, they arranged for the tenancy to terminate earlier than scheduled and helped us to apply pressure to the solicitors. Patronised and bullied. Forced a two week wait to view a property even though we placed a bid as soon as marketed. When bidding 10k in excess of asking it was said that was a good start! Only one other party bidding yet sealed bids was insisted on and when asked for price guidance a property was referenced that was in far better condition. When trying to adjust our bid to something still very generous post survey and second viewing the threat of the other bidder was used as a fear tactic and we were told we knew everything up front so shouldn’t be looking for a more sensible price. We pushed the purchase through in record time with Belgarum needing to do no work for their fee not even photos! The exception was Vicky who is a professional. The sale negotiation was a horrible experience now indelible in my memory. If you’re a person that likes to be treated fairly and openly I would steer clear of this agent.

Hi, we did not end up buying through Belgarum, however, we did feel that Cameron was a great agent we had dealt with in our property search. A lot of agents especially in this market are a bit cocky and full of themselves. Properties effectively sell themselves in this market so an inflated ego is based on performance under these conditions is not valid. Cameron however is not like this and we thought it was a breath of fresh air. We saw a few properties consecutively and even though we could not get into a property as the locking mechanism had broken, we felt like we had a worthwhile experience viewing the outside and surrounding area. It’s hard to fully describe but we just felt as if he was genuine and wanted to work for our best interests, more than just getting a sale. We saw over 10 properties with a host of different agents and even though we did not go for the properties my girlfriend and I turned to eachother and said simultaneously Cameron was great and wished other agents were like that. On several oocasions where we saw a property for sale from Belgarum we made contact with the aggressive Paul und unfriendly Alexandra at Belgarum. They have a very aggressive sales tactic intimidating possible buyers, not passing on information and lying to prospective buyers (and their own clients). Their manners and ways of communication are not professional. We were forced to make contact to the sellers avoiding Belgarum as middle man which then resulted in a successful purchase for us. Pushy, unfriendly, aggressive, not knowledgeable, desperate. This probably describes Belgarum very well.

She made sure things kept moving throughout - even on the sale of my previous house whenever things went quiet on the other side. It was a relief to be in such safe hands. At the best of times, buying a house is stressful, but whilst juggling the house sale/purchase and working full time, I never had to worry if things were moving along. Despite buying at the lower end of the market, I didn't feel like I was treated as such, I was always taken care of and kept in the loop.
