We recently sold our property through Harrington’s and also purchased our ‘forever home’ through Harrington’s. I can honestly say from start to finish the service was personal, friendly, professional and all round hassle free. We were assisted by Robin, John and Shelly throughout the sale and purchase and all were fantastic. I’d recommend them to anyone wanting to purchase in the area as their knowledge and realistic approach saved us a lot of time to ensure we were comfortable in our new home as soon as possible.

Fantastic from start to finish - they (Robin in particular) were responsive, helpful and managed the buying process throughout. They managed expectations all round and drove communications up and down the chain with exactly the right level of urgency and persistence. Used Harringtons from a recommendation John Huddleston assured us he could work within our time frame of 7 weeks that was April 2019 finally completed today, after being informed John knew from the buyer that this transaction would never complete in that time frame. This Estate Agent has cost us over £10,000.00 in additional fees due to their lack of honesty with us. When we contacted John to ask for a small reduction in their commission he flatly refused and would be invoicing the full amount. AWFUL SERVICE AND DISHONEST WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND.

This is confirmation to John Huddleston (Director) that we have received from Harringtons Property Services the award made to us by The Property Ombudsman in acknowledgement of our claims against Harringtons, for a company that is incompetent from top to bottom. From the owners, Mr & Mrs Katterhorn who would not even take receipt of a letter of complaint or answer any queries, through to the rest of the staff leading to the following claims supported by the Ombudsman. 1, Insufficient sub-standard referencing resulting in tenants being in one of our properties who should never have been in the property who could not afford and did not pay the rent and damaged and neglected the property. 2, A non-existent inspection service that did not pick up any issues. 3, Tenants insurance check & identity check that there is no evidence or proof of. 4, Use of process servers, not part of any agreement and without authorisation. 5, Deductions from the deposit for unauthorised non-essential (if carried out at all) works. 6, A total lack of communication, didn’t reply to emails, phone calls, causing a lot of distress at a very difficult time especially as we were living overseas at the time. 7, A tenancy renewal process that failed, leaving us no time to give tenants notice in our other property so we could sell at a time we really needed to. The Ombudsman did leave the option open of taking Harringtons to court before we accepted their award and we did take legal advice and were told we did indeed have a case but because of the financial position we were left in this was not an option. We entrusted Harringtons with a high end property, ready to rent and they handed back a damaged, not fit to live in property, that we could neither rent or sell and 18 months of lost rent and the expense of restoring a damaged property. So if you value your property please learn from our experience, we have been left financially ruined due to Harringtons. If we do not hear any further from Harringtons the full contents of the Ombudsmans Report and all correspondence with Harringtons will be forwarded to the local & national media, who are very interested given the history of who they allowed into our property, and it will then be public knowledge how this company works.
