Worked with Warren in the Wimbledon…

Worked with Warren in the Wimbledon office for our purchase of a house. He was excellent throughout, great communication, always clear and to the point. He stood out amongst the various other agents we had to deal with in sale and purchase and we would highly recommend his services. He also had excellent recommendations for periphery services (which we used for the building survey).

Denell Blake at John D Wood in Weybridge is a very pleasant agent to work with, engaging with you while also allowing you to experience the space for yourself. He is an effective negotiator, managing a fair balance between buyer and seller, and he demonstrates strong intuition when it comes to matching individual requirements to the right property. Denell’s professionalism stands out, he’s reliable, well-informed, and communicates clearly throughout the process, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free.

LANDLORDS PLEASE PLEASE READ AND NOTE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED I am a long term land lord with JD Wood (over 10 years). My tenant paid the rent 12 days ago and I have not received it yet! Obviously this is causing me huge admin problems. My phone calls remain unreturned and I still don't know when/if they will pay me. There is absolutely no excuse for not honouring this payment and just ignoring me makes it worse. As a long term client I am deemed un important. This is a totally UNPROFESSIONAL way to behave and shocking to both me and the tenant.

Dear Liz Flavell, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are very sorry that your rent was delayed while our lettings department switched bank accounts. Unfortunately, the delay was unavoidable, which is why we informed landlords months in advance. I understand you have been in touch with the branch directly and have already agreed a resolution. Kind regards, Lucy, Customer Relations.

Brilliant experience with Battersea Lettings…

We recently had a brilliant experience with the Battersea Lettings team of John D Wood. Oliver Taylor was extremely helpful - highly responsive and efficient, and was proactive to get our rental over the line. He was also very professional and pleasant to work with. Highly recommended.

We bought a property through John D Wood. The service was excellent. Victoria was very good, candid and direct in the right moments and communicative throughout. It was evident that they worked 'for their clients' as much as they did balancing securing the sale. I will be using them when we come to move on.

Johnny Moore John D Wood Review

From the very start Daniel White and Jane Marshall made me feel, not just that I was in safe hands, but that I was dealing with two people who are extremely professional and experienced. I never felt pressured or rushed and their communication skills, support, and calm reassurance has made the whole process of selling my house a positive one.

Extremely Unprofessional

Extremely Unprofessional and Disrespectful Experience with Munroe Graham I had one of the most frustrating experiences with Munroe Graham. I viewed a property and placed an offer within two hours. My offer was accepted the same afternoon, and I immediately transferred a holding deposit. The next day, the agent became practically unreachable, I had to keep calling and texting just to get any updates. I was told there were some “issues with the landlord” but that everything was sorted and not to worry. Despite those reassurances, I was never sent a tenancy agreement, even though I was supposed to move in the following week. On the third day, after I had already turned down other offers based on their word, I received an email, not even a phone call, telling me the deal was off and that my money would be refunded. The reason given was that the landlord had fallen ill, which makes little sense since the property was empty when I viewed it. Even if that were true, the lack of professionalism was shocking. There was no respect, no communication, and no accountability throughout the process. I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before dealing with Munroe Graham.

We had a great experience selling our house through John D Wood, Southfields. The whole team was very helpful throughout the process, and Lewis was particularly professional, patient, and efficient in helping us overcome the inevitable hurdles that arise during a house sale. A big thank you to everyone involved.

End of Tenancy Check Out - Battersea Branch

Our experience with John D Wood was frustrating and stressful. We dealt with four different agents during our tenancy, and none resolved any issues. The checkout process was the worst - we moved out in April, but our checkout report took 10 days, and despite a professional clean, the landlord conducted another and tried to charge us. Communication was terrible. Calls went unanswered, promised call backs never came, and replies took weeks. Our damage deposit wasn’t released for four months, forcing us to go through the Tenancy Deposit Scheme to recover it. Thankfully, we eventually received all of our money back. While we got our deposit in the end, the whole process was unnecessarily difficult. Expect poor communication, lack of support, and unhelpful agents.

We had a great experience with JD Wood in Weybridge. Ruby handled the negotiations and the correspondence between the owners and lawyers and Quinton did most of the viewings. What an amazing team, Ruby was always quick to respond and kept us informed the whole way and did everything to make both sides happy and Quinton was like something out of grand designs, pointing out all the things we could do with the property and how to maximise the space and opportunities. Felt like we got a bonus experience when buying our first home. Would highly recommend working with this team and enjoy the personal touches that come along the way.

If I could give zero stars, I would. John D Wood in Weybridge are all talk and no action. They managed my rental property with complete indifference and proved to be the least bothered company I’ve ever dealt with. Property managers were constantly changed without any communication, leaving me not knowing who to contact. Emails to managers were ignored, and follow-ups went unanswered. Attempts to reach the lady in charge of lettings were pointless, she was either on holiday or “unwell,” sometimes for weeks or even months. This shocking lack of professionalism caused me financial loss. They showed no accountability, no urgency, and no respect for their clients. Communication was consistently poor, leaving me chasing them endlessly with no updates or clarity. Staff were unreliable, with constant turnover and nobody willing to take responsibility. Instead of offering solutions, they always had excuses for why they couldn’t help. Their attitude was unfriendly and dismissive, treating genuine concerns as an inconvenience rather than part of their job. Basic property management duties were neglected, leaving both tenants and landlords frustrated. Absolutely shocking service from start to finish. We are relieved to no longer have to deal with this company. If you value professionalism, responsiveness, and peace of mind, stay far away from John D Wood Weybridge.

Our sale of a property in Surbiton

Our sale of a property in Surbiton was complicated by the fact that everything had to be managed from overseas. We were fortunate in being directed to John D. Wood and Co at the Surbiton branch, where we have nothing but praise for the professionalism and efficiency of Luke Dwyer and Theo Harding. There were many issues which caused delays in the process of this sale, but at all times Luke was quick to be in touch and to advise on the way forward. Although we did not meet in person, we very much appreciated his reassuring manner as we negotiated both legal and practical setbacks.

Excellent experience with John D Wood Wimbledon

We recently completed the purchase of a flat in Wimbledon through John D Wood & Co and had a very positive experience from beginning to end. A particular thank you goes to Peter Woods, who was excellent throughout the transaction. He was always professional, approachable and responsive, communicated clearly with us and was very helpful whenever we needed information or something needed to be followed up. Buying a property inevitably involves moments when you are waiting for different parties to do things, so having someone who communicates well and helps keep the process moving makes a real difference. I would also like to thank the wider Wimbledon team. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful, right through to completion and the collection of the keys. Overall, we felt very well looked after and I would have no hesitation in recommending Peter and the John D Wood Wimbledon office.

In a very difficult and stressful time, the team at John D Wood were above and beyond all expectations. Certainly not like your “usual” Estate Agents. With a limited time period, within hours they attended and found the solution we needed. Me and my family will never forget this and will use them again when necessary. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Be smart and go to John D Wood!

Mice infestation by a John D Wood managed property

I strongly recommend doing your due diligence before renting a John D Wood-managed property on Courtfield Road. I was a tenant at the property for two years and am sharing my honest experience… Repeated mice infestation During my tenancy, my young daughter and I experienced three separate episodes of mice infestation, including mice regularly appearing in our living space and kitchen. Despite repeated requests for help, I was at times ignored for weeks. On one occasion, pest control attended to remove a dead mouse from our kitchen. They advised that entry points needed to be properly sealed to prevent recurrence and that the landlord had been made aware. Despite this, the landlord chose not to act, so we continued to cohabit with mice. P.S. The pest control agent told me they had previously attended the flat for exactly the same issue during an earlier tenancy and it had also not been addressed. Living through recurring mice infestations with a young child, when preventative measures had been recommended, was totally unacceptable. The way the landlord chose to handle (or not handle) the matter was completely (insert your own adjective here). Which, quite unsurprisingly, led to the even more ridiculous handling of my deposit… Deposit handling I was not contacted for over two months, despite repeatedly trying to contact the responsible person, James (listed as Kieran on their website), by email, telephone and attending the branch twice. On one occasion I even saw him in the branch. Yet James denied receiving any communications from me despite clear evidence and witnesses. I eventually made contact only after escalating to his seniors. When communication resumed, I was presented with several deductions I considered totally unreasonable and disproportionate, including a £390 cleaning charge despite the property having already been professionally cleaned, as well as proposed replacement costs for “wear and tear” items which, in my view, could reasonably have been remedied and should not be used to fund refurbishment of the property. When I disputed the deductions, I was repeatedly asked for further evidence and explanations, including proof of professional cleaning and detailed recollections of how alleged damage occurred, which I provided in good faith. Despite this, my evidence and explanations seemingly went unnoticed and the landlord’s position remained “firm and unchanged”. I couldn’t help wondering why they asked for this evidence in the first place, if not simply to make the process more drawn out. Then, after approximately two and a half months, I was informed that the landlord’s position had changed again and additional charges, including possible carpet replacement, were being considered. I was also told their cleaning contractor had been asked to attend again to update the cleaning quote, and I had to wait for details needed to escalate to TDS, further extending a process that had already taken months. At this point, returning a tenancy deposit appears to have developed into a considerably more complicated project than dealing with three separate mice infestations ever was… Jokes aside, I was a tenant for two years, paid my rent, including increases in line with inflation, six months upfront at a time, and caused very little difficulty throughout my tenancy. I was consistently accommodating when it came to problems with the property and landlord. It is unfortunate that the same flexibility seems to disappear rather quickly when there is money to be deducted from a tenant’s deposit. So, to anyone considering renting in South Kensington / Gloucester Road, and particularly this property: please do your due diligence, document everything and keep every email. I sincerely hope your experience is better than mine. As for my deposit, perhaps one day it too will successfully find its way out of Flat 9.

Professional and helpful

Molly and her team at the Parsons Green office were very professional, helpful and pleasant to work with. From advising on the appropriate asking price, arranging multiple viewings and securing couple of offers in the first two days of the property being on the market. They were knowledgeable and assisted in navigating a stressful process, dealing with unexpected matters that came up during the conveyancing, which I really appreciated. I would highly recommend the Parsons Green office for selling a property.

Unprofessional and frustrating

My experience with this letting agency has been disappointing. Communication was consistently poor, and I often had to follow up multiple times to receive even the most basic updates, whether it related to urgent maintenance issues or my tenancy deposit. Throughout my time in the property, I found myself repeatedly having to chase responses. There was very little initiative shown on their part, and when replies did come, they were often delayed or lacked clarity. It left me feeling like I had to manage things entirely on my own. Even now, months after the end of my tenancy, I am still waiting for my deposit to be returned, with no clear communication or resolution provided. It's unfortunate to have had such a stressful experience.

We have just bought a property with the help of JDW. The whole process went very smoothly and we cannot fault the service. The agent, Quinton, was helpful and professional. Every request was dealt with promptly and considerately. I wouldn’t hesitate to use the company again and would highly recommend Quinton to anyone looking for top quality service with a personal touch.
