Foxtons Letting Commission…

Just to share my experience and warn anybody thinking of using Foxtons letting services. Foxtons will be vey happy to take full year commission in advance but if your tenant moves out before the full year period, Foxtons will not refund your commission in cash but just leave the amount as a credit in your account even you no longer have the intention to rent out your property. Area director of Foxtons claimed that this is in line with Foxtons terms of business. Beware before you choose Foxtons letting services.

I truly do not understand who in their right mind has ever rated Foxtons 5 stars. Unfortunately I have been in contact with them at multiple occasions but I am happy to say that today was the last. They arrange viewings for properties that has already been let, WHY not cancel if anything happened between the time of booking and the viewing actually taking place. This seems to be a common occurrence for Foxtons. Other than that, the agents are the rudest human beings I have ever spoken to. Surely I’ve not been unfortunate enough to have come across the ONLY employees at Foxtons that hate their jobs so this seems to be a big issue over there. When calling it seems as though you just ruined their entire day. I’m SORRY I was interested in the properties you have listed, that by the way isn’t even available. If calls like these are a displeasure to the agents I would suggest removing the ads.

Incompetence and lies on a legendary scale!

I had my property up for sale with Foxtons, an offer collapsed, and so I decided to consider rental. After I spoke to the rental department, they took a renter into my property without my permission, hadn't even signed a contract. Luckily, the person liked it and offered a good rent. The agent lied to the renter and me, messed up three contracts, so by the time he signed the fourth contract on my behalf, the renter had been in my flat for 10 days. Lucky he signed! He told me that I could not protect the deposit...lie. He told me that the second 6-month rent payment would be paid on the fourth month...lie. And it was not paid in advance on the 5th month like every other agent; the tenant is now late with the second 6-month payment. I complained to the manager, but he ignored my complaints. The whole office is corrupt. Really, do yourself a favour, there are good letting agents out there, Foxtons is not one of them.

New X Foxtons is appalling

New Cross Gate letting office is appalling. I had a misfortune to invite them a few years back for valuation and then when changed my mind, asked them to delete me from their database as wasn't planning to do anything with my house. And guess what every year I am receiving unsolicited calls inquiring about valuation, letting, selling. They promise to delete my number every time they call once every half a year in average, pathetic.

Priorities are wrong

Foxtons can't seem to answer simple enquiries about a property - for example "how long is the leasehold" or "what are the service charges". Instead their focus is on gaining as much information about the person inquiring as possible. Ie they have more interest in adding to a dataset of potential buyers and marketing themselves than in answering a simple enquiry. I certainly wouldn't sell with them given how they prioritise themselves over the sellers interests..... of course all this is in the guise of "customer service" but it's not really is it? It's blatant marketing and self promotion.

nightmare agents

nightmare agents. do yourself a favour and use a different one. these are the guys who give estates agents their bad name. its been almost 2 months since i completed and they still havent given me the full set of keys or removed furniture as promised. i dealt with jordan at the temple fortune branch and every day he has a new excuse. they dont respond to messages or phone calls and provide a truly awful service. there are plenty of other good agents around who provide a much better service.

They take the money and then abandon their landlords. Do not rent a property with these agents as there is no customer support or response. I have had a couple of issues and queries - I have had to ring several times with long wait times and email multiple times for a response, still waiting three weeks later. They never reply or respond costing me hours of wasted time and stress.

AVOID FOXTONS AT ALL COSTS!!! After over 100 email exchanges, dozens of calls, and being ping-ponged between 5+ managers, my flatmates and I were finally able to get out of our lease... but only after 6 months of constant escalation that was not being taken seriously. The level of gaslighting and disregard for tenant health and safety at Foxtons is shocking. Despite repeated reports, Foxtons delayed action, deflected responsibility, and passed us from person to person with no resolution. Basic habitability issues (mice, mould, structural damage, doors that wouldn't lock, etc.) were treated like minor inconveniences. It took formal breach notices, council involvement, and legal escalation before anything meaningful happened and even then, communication remained slow and dismissive. I have never experienced such an unprofessional, unresponsive, and frankly an unethical letting agency. If you value your health, time, and sanity rent literally anywhere else.

Very poor experience with both Harriet and Agne at this branch. Flat was not properly cleaned of the prior tenants belongings (including a moldy cup), I was left packing boxes of stuff that Harriet then asked me to have my movers bring to Foxtons.. Now I am on week 5 of trying to get a spare key (only given one moving in) and have made at least 3 phone calls to them, unanswered emails to Agne. They are incredibly disorganised and turn any standard ask into aggravation. I do not recommend working with them, especially if you are an owner as their service for tenants is so disappointing it's a consideration in not renewing my lease

Do not rent from these people under any circumstance. They literally have stolen our $1500 security deposit after agreeing that they owe us the money. The woman we are nominally supposed to work with, Courtney, has not responded to 20 emails or calls. There is another gentlemen David who periodically tries to help but is also generally unresponsive. If you do business with this organization, my advice is to assume any deposit money you give them will not be refunded. Sad and unethical but true. On an even unhappier note, the flat that we rented had a broken oven and sink the entire time we were there and they never fixed it, apologized, or even responded to requests to address it. Incredibly poor business.

Terrible experience

Non-existent communication. Viewings done by an unprepared team: didn't know level of service charge, exposure, if the appliances were new or not, size of the flat or rooms. One claimed we had replaced the kitchen (we hadn't), another that the Hue Lights we installed were staying in the flat for the buyer (we never said that).
