House Builders from Hell

I am reluctant to even give them 1 star. I purchased a house from them 2 years ago and it has been the worst experience. They are rude, lazy, nothing is even completed to a high enough or even good standard. It's a real bodge job with these homes. The houses are so tightly packed in you can hear people sneeze 4 houses away which helps even less because the poor quality windows. The gardens are terrible with turf that never grows and the floorboards aren't even down properly. Aside from all of that you can't even attempt to enjoy your house because they haven't cleared off site yet even 2 years on. They do 2 hours of work then go home.

Zero Star Builder

Horrendous - please don’t be conned by the well rehearsed sales pitch. Purchased 4 bedroom home at Semele Park in December 2016 and still waiting for snags to be repaired. Bovis simply do not care for their customers following exchange of contracts. I have repeatedly emailed Chief Executive Greg Fitzgerald only to get the same response of a delegated authority for members of his team to resolve my issues - to no avail! I have been repeatedly ignored, fobbed off and even threatened by Bovis employees - utterly deplorable!

Good value, but be warned on telecomms situation.

Overall my new Bovis home is built to a good spec. There are minor niggles, as one would expect, but they've been excellent in dealing with issues promptly once reported. I suppose the main concerns are the troubles that goes with living on a building site - they could do a lot more to improve access, condition of the roads, and dust - and the illegal monopoly on telecomms access. There are better builders perhaps, but I feel like I've got good value for money.

Con artists never buy from bovis

I would give bovis no stars if I could, they sold the house I put a deposit on to someone else and did not let me know or my solicitor know with no refund of deposit and flooring money, we where ready to exchange and my solicitor only found out 3 months later causing me to lose the house my buyer to be homeless looks like I had a lucky escape reading the reviews from other buyers. DO NOT BUY FROM BOVIS.

Absolutely Abysmal

Absolutely abysmal following purchase of the property 5 years ago. Many snagging issues took multiple visits to resolve and uncovered cheap substitute materials as a cause. Landscape gardeners that appear 5 years late and in multiple ways damage the landscape they are supposed to be enhancing.Roads still not adopted and tarmaced 5 years on due to disagreements with United utilities (local water company). The senior management including Roger Bebbington couldn’t care less.

Terrible aftercare service

The Bovis experience actually didn't start too badly for us, however a year after moving in to our property we have discovered issues with the quality of the workmanship on the roof, leading to water flowing down every wall. The customer care team are very good at apologizing, but unfortunately not at rectifying the problem, responding to voicemails or calling us back whenever they promise that they'll get on it straight away. 3 months after reporting the issue we have received a roofers report that falsifies the issue (having had an independent third party look at the problem) in order to avoid conducting a proper repair. Still fighting to resolve the problem before it causes further damage.Terrible aftercare service - suggest you avoid or brace yourself for a bumpy ride!

Awful company

Awful company, poor build work, terrible customer service and a huge lack of empathy or care. Our house is only 8 months old but we already need all our floors ‘fixing’ properly despite being ‘fixed’ three times already. They don’t care at all once you have moved in and get handed over to customer ‘care’. This is a second Bovis Home and we bought this one because we were reassured that it was better, they had learned their lessons etc. All total rubbish of course as nothing has changed and never will. Please do not buy one of these dreadful, poorly made Homes.

Dont go there!

If you are looking to buy a house with this company don't bother, run in the opposite direction! We have had no end of problems from the start of our journey all the way through to having our snagging list completed, which is still outstanding 2 months after completion with 2 days annual leave wasted. Builders claiming they have booked the trades and then just not turning up. The customer service is shocking and they quite clearly only want your money they do not care about you or your home they are building for you!

Builder not to be trusted, the lies are never ending.

This company should be avoided at all cost. We moved in two and a half years ago, over three months later than told by the sales rep. This was the number one of many lies during the ensuing period to date, 12 Jan 2018. Far to many problems to list here but some of the major ones as follows;2 floods, lots of minor leaks, wrong fans installed, attempts to fix creaking floors, three times & still waiting. Ceilings re- fixed and re-plastered. Garden re-lawned at our expense, fed up waiting for Bovis, still trying to get money back. Latest email requesting flooring issues fixed and refund of monies...”sorry too busy to answer you”! If you want an unnecessary amount of stress in your life, buy from Bovis. Look at BHVU on Facebook,Over 2500 members all with masss of problems.

Bought a new build- sold as our forever …

Bought a new build- sold as our forever home, as our first house purchase back in2015. We reported over 50 snags within the first few weeks. Since then we had to move out 4 months after moving in (while immently due a baby) and again, 2016 just before Christmas. They have re-laid our ground floor 4+ times, finally getting to an acceptable standard. While here for the floor, revealed door frames too small for the holes (all of them!) But at first said "we are not here for that"! I said it's poor customer service to reveal such poor work and not offer to fix it, so EVENTUALLY they did. All snags have taken 3 years to complete! The other issues we encountered include: stairs that are not square with the house, air bricks put too low, belongings not removed when concrete floor broken up (dust on/in everything we own, and electrical sockets, fire alarm, boiler), extremely poor communication from after sales customer care, dust painted into our walls, shower doors fitted so you step out onto a toilet!, washing machine transit bolts left in despite claiming all our appliances had been 'tested and ready to use'!, and taking until this coming February to have a meeting to discuss any possible 'goodwill'. They are not quality, do not tell the truth and will not rectify things efficently. Despite the long list of issues, their lack of communication bothers me the most. Problems happen, ok, all we expect/hope is that they would be keen to solve them. Not so. I would never recommend buying from Bovis, esecially as a first time buyer as from my experience once they have your money they do not care about 'customers'. If it was any other purchase we could demand a refund as the house was not fit for purpose, sadly we are here till it sells.....

Excellent service, we recommend!

Me and my partner have only recently brought our home through Bovis. Throughout the entire process the team at The Chase, Wincanton have been excellent. Kerry always kept us updated with their progress and she was always there if we had any questions. We can’t fault a single member of the team and we would happily recommend them to friends and family. Obviously with new builds there’s going to be a few snags, but no problem is too much hassle for the site managers (Kris and Dave) and the rest of the team. We can’t thank them enough.

Shocking treatment - Once they have your money they don't care!! Buyer beware

We bought a house from Bovis and the problems started the day we moved in, that's when our living nightmares began, the whole house vibrates, it has structural issues which they have now left us to find and fix. We have moved out twice for works to be done to try and remedy this, however this hasn't worked. Bovis do not want to know, they play games.. passing you about to different departments dragging it on so they hope you will eventually give up, cause you stress and frustration. The NHBC don't want to know. You end up having to organise for structural engineers to find the problems and solicitors to fight the case as they don't want to know once they have your money. No one in their whole lifetime should have to go through this nightmare!

Would give them a minus if I could.

Would give them a minus if I could. To date they have left me with no heating or hot water on two occasions for more than 4 days in winter time with a child under the age of three years in the house. This is all within the first two years of living in my property so while under warranty not that it makes any difference to their couldn't care less attitude! I have also had water coming through my lounge ceiling on one occasion, water coming through my kitchen ceiling on another occasion both times due to faulty installation and cheap parts. The respect they show when you complain that your downstairs cloakroom has faeces overflowing onto the floor due to an outside blocked drain is to tell you it wouldn't bother the site manager as he is an ex squaddie. In the words of Alan Sugar Bovis are a total shambles and I have resorted to paying a professional to correct their poor workmanship and then take them to small claims court. They are the only 2 star builders in this country for a reason....take your money elsewhere!!!

Thay care about customer only to the point when you pay money to them, after that tay don't care. House are made not up spec which they introduce and as you to sign them, thay use as cheap as possible probucts and getting them to fix any snags it is a BIG challenge, 28days promise to fix snag is a big lie, thake year or to two get anything done and not always fixing is any good, NHBC wareanty another lie thay will do anything to avoid any repair, so my advice don't buy from Bovis, not worth the money and you will end up years of problems.

We abandoned the purchase after 4.5 …

We abandoned the purchase after 4.5 months waiting - because Bovis changed the plans without telling us!!!!!!!My son decided to buy new build after a previous purchase fell through. We foolishly thought that it would be relatively hassle free.We could not have been more wrong. It was made clear from the outset that we were only interested if the flat was built exactly as per the detailed technical drawings that we inspected. We even took photos of the original to ensure we knew what was agreed.During the very, very long build process we repeatedly asked to view the property (as per the Bovis Homebuyers Charter), but were fobbed off with excuses as to why this wasn't possible.A few days before exchange, we gained access by stealth, and were astounded and shocked that a wall had been constructed where a half hieght bannister should have been in the lounge area. This completely changed the appearance and visual appeal of what was already a very small flat.It was then clear why we had been denied access during the build, and Bovis admitted it was a "carpenters mistake". Subsequently this "mistake" was changed to become "health and safety" and "services routing". None of which changed the fact that we were expected at the 11th hour, to buy something different to that which was agreed. Clearly it was hoped that by presenting us with a fait-accompli so close to exchange meant that we would simply accept their "mistake"!We said we wanted the stud wall removed and rebuilt as per the agreed drawings - a reasonable enough request we thought but it was refused. When escalating to the regional Sales Manager we were told by her that "Bovis don't have to sell us the flat at all - and in fact she had decided that she wouldn't sell it to us now anyway"! When we challenged her attitude, the response was that until exchange Bovis have no obligations whatsoever and can do just what they like.Although it was going to cause considerable inconvenience we decided to withdraw from the sale the following day.Bovis agreed to refund all reasonable costs - however they even managed to get that wrong and underpaid the agreed amount . It took several weeks to get the refund of money we were legally entitled to and that they had agreed to pay!!!All in all a totally, unbelievably bad buying experience. I read the public comments that the new Bovis CEO makes about his commitment to overhaul the dire customer service reputation of Bovis and I smile. The customer service commitment from the CEO obviously has a very long and painful journey to make before it lands on the desks of the customer facing staff. As they always say - "Let Buyer Beware"!!! In the case of a Bovis Home that is unfortunately more true than usual.Unbelievably Bad

"Built by people who care"

....Yeah right! Built by a bunch of shoddy contractors who win the contract by being the cheapest. Surprisingly, this doesn't translate to 'people who care'Already wasted 3 days of Holiday to have contractors in the house fixing things, now we need to book another 3 days off work to have them fix more things that should have been right from the start.Their customer services manager was flat out rude and unprofessional, decided to tell me about an unfortunate accident he had that led to the loss of a limb...great but we're here to talk about the problems with a quarter of a million pound house I just bought mate, not to tell each other stories of bad things that have happened to us.Buying a house is stressful, but buying a bovis home is like chewing glass

Our first home the most dreadfully disappointing experience thanks to Bovis

If there was a zero star category I would have chosen that option. Buying a Bovis home has been the worst ordeal ever. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. There are individuals who happen to work for Bovis who I honestly believe are good people. However, Bovis have made purchasing our first home the most dreadfully disappointing experience. Deficiences are not addressed, numerous emails not even acknowledged, customers are treated with contempt as we don't matter because 'we will not ever buy another property' from them. Very poor quality and workmanship compared to other builders, customers receive very little *important* information about their new home, customers struggle to achieve a resolution when defects are reported...A horrid nightmare which has only started less than a year ago.Have a chat with homebuyers to get to know their true situation to make an informed decision about buying from Bovis. Beware of 'the optimistic bias' that would make you believe that you are at a lesser risk of being yet another Bovis Victim.

The worst thing I ever did in my life was buy a Bovis house

The worst thing I ever did in my life was buy a Bovis built home. They were rude, patronising, always rushing you. Then they built us an awful house, full of issues. They made a massive error in our kitchen and when we asked for it to be fixed they threatened us with legal action. The site manager had CCTV on our property and tried to blackmail us into backing down. They’re a disgusting vile company full of money grabbing shoddy builders and managers who only care about £££ and take no responsibility for people’s lives and wellbeing. I hate Bovis - don’t buy Bovis, unless you like making a bad investing. You’d be better off burning your money.

I purchased a Bovis home with my husband and children January 16, we moved in July 16, the hell began, the house was not finished, holes in the walls, uneven floors, cracks in doors, wonky bannisters, wonky garden walls, creaky floors, missing roof tiles, scratched kitchen panels, plinths didn't fit properly, wonky kitchen cupboards, leaks, 4 ceilings needed replacing, rubbish under cupboards and bath panels, holes in cement in garden, cracked tiles in bathrooms, leaking toilets, mould, mastic slapped around windows.I could go on and on.Communication does not exist with Bovis. We had to pay for a structural surveyor. It was the most stressful time of our life.NEVER EVER WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS AWFUL COMPANY.We are still waiting for work to be fixed. Nothing but pain from start to finish

Nothing but pain from start to finish. Very poor quality build an absolute lack of attention to detail or willingness to fix snags from 15mm gaps under doors, un-level floors, radiators not plumbed correctly, mould from a lack of drying out and scuffs and marks from the tradesmen. Arguing with them over every point, completely unwilling to go that small extra step to make you feel like a valued customer. DO NOT BUY BOVIS!!!!!
