TrustpilotThey couldn't care less as long as they get rent…
Terrible estate agents kept emailing me saying that they were getting my roof fixed along with other things but nobody ever showed up. It still going on over a year later. As long as the money is going in every month that is fine. They even tried to charge me for a call out for a broken fridge/freezer because the engineer couldn't find a fault, the item is still broken. Avoid a headache with these estate agents because if you have a problem when renting they really don't care.

TrustpilotThe worst and most dishonest agent ever
If I could give zero or minus I would ,they are lying conmen their property management is non existent they never answer the phone ,I believe it is their plan to let you fix the problem from your own pocket ,I had numerous water leaks and no one from Martin and co arrived to inspect the damage ,there was damp in the main bedrooon which was not addressed causing me to catch pneumonia ,throughout my entire tenancy Martin and co did nothing I fact the water damage is still there and now they are trying to use that as a reason not to return my deposit ,remember if rob hall says something you can guarantee it will be a lie ,he is the most dishonest agent I have ever come across ,if you rent from them then don’t be surprised if you find yourself in my position

TrustpilotTenants - Caution and patience is advised
For Landlords I am sure they are great. If you are a tenant, they are the poster child of letting agents. My advice is document, document, document and document properly. After every phone call, write up an email to them, you'll need it.Don't waive anything in the inventory. Assume, that they will use anything you say, or don't object to, against you.In my case they used about 3 year old pictures in the inventory document and because I had an agreement with the previous tenants that they keep some furniture there, I waived it as a convenience. A year later, when I was moving out, they were not even open for discussion "you signed the inventory, that was the state". It went to DPS arbitrage for deposit. Their claim was ~640 pounds, thanks to videos and other evidence the end amount was ~130 pounds. One maintenance issue required the contractor to come 3 times. After a leaking boiler was reporter, the contractor says it was a goner because of rust (I was on my way out, so I did not care anymore). I got a message from the next tenant about 3 months later, if I knew anything about the boiler, as they did not have hot water for a week. Martin&Co says, that hot water is not an urgent matter....in November. I am sure they will object to this review, if interested, I can share the DPS resolution and entire email conversations.2 stars. because they eventually resolve issues eventually, so it is not "the worst company ever".

TrustpilotLow Grade Company
I am shocked that Martin & Co have been rated as 2 out of 5 and it must be they have cheated the system to gain 2 stars. Never come across such a rubbish company and if you ever want rented accommodation AVOID at all costs. They will take your money do nothing to manage repairs and will keep your deposit. They provided accommodation in extremely poor quality and expected it returned in immaculate condition. If I had the time on my hands I would take them to court and win. They are the worst company i have ever had to deal with

TrustpilotNothing but problems when renting…
Nothing but problems when renting through them years ago. Thought I'd give them another chance, booked a viewing and they didn't turn up. After waiting 15 minutes from the specified time I called them and they had rented the property out but not bothered to let me know. Very frustrating especially when taking time out of work for a viewing.Avoid at all costs

TrustpilotIt’s worsts company ever
It’s worsts company ever. They just tried to take all of your deposit for useless things. When I was living in the their house I called and mailed them many times for the issues in the house but they never ever tried to fixed the issue. But when I moved the house they tried to put the problems I told them on me. If you thinking to find house with company don’t because they not helpful and they just tried to take your money.

TrustpilotIllegal deposit deductions attempted, zero integrity
They will try to take from your deposit unfairly- no I am not just disgruntled, they will not even give you itemized receipts for what they ask for. They ask for your money for things that are not in the contract, they have zero shame in asking for things that even the deposit companies say isn't legal. NEVER give them their first offer for the deposit and I guarantee it's too much, offer them less than half of their first offer I swear. They seriously lack morality, integrity, and scruples. AVOID renting from them AT ALL COSTS

TrustpilotUnprofessional and Lazy
I've been trying to find a property as I need to move out of my family home and the council aren't helping. Every time I have submitted a request for a property viewing under this company I get ignored - No response from them so I send further emails, to be further ignored (I do not currently have a working phone to call). My partner will call them on some new properties and they will turn around and say 'viewing capacity' even on properties that went up within a couple of hours of our call or 'property no longer available' when the property has only just gone up (as we filter by most recent to ensure we can get viewings). The company comes across as lazy, unprofessional and not very trusting. I wish there was a way you could rent without having to go through specific estate agents as these are incredibly poor but seem to be the estate agents for a lot of rental properties. How they are still in business is beyond me.

This is the worse property agency I have dealt with. Liars! The don’t care about you. All they want is your money! The process of renting house is rigorous and wasteful. They keep asking for irrelevant documents.

TrustpilotPretty terrible experience
Pretty terrible experience. Viewed a property and then asked to apply to rent the place, got messed around and didn't keep me informed at all. The person on the other end of the emails clearly was of limited intelligence and unable to even use the spellcheck function of their email application as it was littered with errors.I feel sorry for anyone who uses them to be honest.

TrustpilotAn awful company -would never trust again!!!
An awful company -would never trust again!! Would never trust again!! Showed me a virtual video of an apartment to rent and asked me to pay a holding deposit for referencing. When I paid and went to see a couple of weeks later, it was a disgusting place and very much different to the one I saw online. An awful place in terms of seriously stained and dirty walls and furniture, damage to the wall, excessive dirt and mould on the floor that was disgusting, stains everywhere on furniture, and broken furniture. The guy showing me around apologised and said this must have happened in the last week since the virtual viewing!!! -which is unbelievable!. More shockingly, refused to refund all my holding deposit despite escalating it to their letting director!! Shame on them!

TrustpilotWaiting YEARS
Waiting YEARS! for any, even the simplest repairs! Rude staff members . Live in flat with cracked walls and leaking roof and destroyed ceiling cos of that .. no one cares . Thousand of my calls and emails ignored by them. My furniture is damaged because of that. They only keep saying 'someone will be in touch shortly' . It's been 4 years now.. dropping taps in the bathrooms waiting 4 years as well to be changed.. The worse agency I've even rented from!! Useless management. And after all when you finally wat to move out as you can't stand the condition of the place , cos obviously they don't do any fixing jobs .. they will eventually give you bad references .. meanness!

TrustpilotFirst impressions of dealing with this company=Good
My first time being a landlord and a reasonably good experience using a branch in Welwyn Garden, Herts.Everyone has been approachable & helpful particularly regarding using a work team for renovation. The paperwork and some of my responsibilities could have been better explained as could the actual fees at the start of the rental. I'm taking a guess at the first 'paycheck'.Some minor teething troubles aside so far I feel confident that they will competently manage the property on my behalf.

TrustpilotIT'S TOO LATE FOR ME SAVE YOURSELF
Where to begin? While I understand that many letting agencies in my area have a poor rep, I honestly believe I would have had a better letting experience signing on with an old blind dog. When we moved into our home it was trashed, litter everywhere, missing doorknobs, and even a pond somewhere in the garden which they could not locate due to overgrowth. We were personally responsible for fixing all of this and making the property livable. Once settled expect a multitude of unannounced visits, and if any issues with the properties appear, rest assured you will be completely and entirely on your own to sort them. Upon moving out, they decided our own clean of the house was insufficient and were charged nearly 400 pounds in cleaning fees, honest I would not have been upset with this bit had it not been for the fact we moved in with the property in a state equitable to a frat house during spring break. Additionally, should you decided to move forward with Martin & Co. (which I cannot disadvise enough) make sure to photograph and document any issues you find, or be prepared to be charged outrageous rates to fix problems you did not create. I promise you, you would be better off in a cardboard box in the street.

TrustpilotWould not recommend at all!
We have had an awful experience with Martin and co and I would NOT recommend. From the start it was impossible to contact a letting agent and we had several changes of agent throughout the tenancy. The energy and water accounts had not been closed and were not closed for a long time when moving in. This made it extremely stressful trying to make a switch and get settled in our new house. Since moving out ( over a month ago) we are yet to receive are deposit back and they have tried to charge us extra including for objects that were never in the property. Since receiving our final deductions email they have tried to email us several more times adding costs that are not on the inventory and were not noticed by the external property inspector who visited our house immediately after we left. I could go on but if you want an easy and swift experience do not use Martin and co. They are very unprofessional and should not be trusted.

TrustpilotI wish there was zero stars option
I wish there was zero stars option! Absolutely awful. I don't know if I should start from the zero support line when you have major faults like no water, a leaking ceiling or a broke dishwasher! And don't even get me started on the theft that begins when you end your tenancy, they rip you off like no other! And when you agree on the amount to be deducted they just think they can play you and send you less than the agreed amount.AVOOOOIIIIDDDDDD!

TrustpilotAbsolutely rubbish as an estate agent
Absolutely rubbish as an estate agent. And have even worse landlords on books. Lived in a house for nearly half a year nothing but issues. And nothing was done. But straight on case if was something that suited them. Nightmare getting bond back after leaving the house in lot better condition then got it. We had freshly decorated. As when moved it house was dirty from top to bottom and drawings all over. Then seen house back up for rent with original pictures on. I honestly feel sorry for the next victim they get in this property. Everyone needs to realise how much they don't care about tenants just money money money. Would highly recommend avoiding them at all costs regardless off your current situation. As it will only be worse by using them as an estate agent. Martin and co as well as landlord should be on a watch list for everyone to avoid. Hope no one has to experience what we did. Also the repairs carried out in the house was terrible. Just AVOID !!!!!!!!!

TrustpilotTried to arrange a viewing
Tried to arrange a viewing. I was told they were trying to organise it with current tenant. However after numerous calls to office, two of which were answered in an unprofessional manner, I received an email which made no sense and contradicted what I was originally told. On following this up and asking for an explanation I received another email which avoided the question. The property mysteriously ‘vanished’ off their website. I can only assume it had been let.I would not recommend this agency.

GoogleRecently, I sold my flat in London. Gracie Wackett of Martin & Co helped me to negotiate and manage the transaction, together with her colleague Che McDowell, to its successful completion. She was very efficient and quick in getting things done, without which the sale would have been delayed. I really appreciated it very much. Thank you.

TrustpilotJust awful lettings agents
Takes months to get anything fixed, hires the least competent people to do it, makes ridiculous claims on your security deposit at the end, and just lets random strangers into your house when you're asleep to do viewings without getting prior permission. They're just awful people who don't care. Try somewhere else, you don't want to put the roof over your head in their hands.
