Let down and misled

I instructed Bairstoweves to sell my home. I was impressed by the initial response and the regular contact and updates on viewing appointments. They took care of all viewings and on being told they had received two offers on the property, I held a lengthy talk with a member of the team who told me that one of the offers came from a regular client who had purchased a number of properties through them and the buyer always completed without problems. So we chose him rather than the other buyer, despite this person offering £5k more. The main reason was that he was a cash buyer and we would complete quicker. Then he was going to get a mortgage. Then he couldn't get a mortgage. Then he was going for a bridging loan and so the problems went on and on. Barstoweves never returned my calls, nor my solicitors calls or the estate agents of the property we were buying. It was impossible to get through on the phone and there is no mobile number to call or text on. It was only when I entered the complaints procedure that I felt I was being treated as a client. I would never recommend Bairstoweves or any subsidiary of Countrywide. My complaint was not upheld because the file made no reference to a cash buyer. They could not identify the person I spoke to and phone calls are not recorded. As far as Countrywide were concerned the conversation never took place. Do not trust Bairstoweves, they promise the earth but do not deliver

They tried pushing their broker service and said I would only be able to put in an offer if vetted by their internal services despite having a mortgage in principle and explaining my circumstances (after refusing to have an appointment, they said it would be okay). Had to chase a few times to try and get a viewing, once a time had initially been agreed the appointment was changed several times before being cancelled altogether due to the seller being in a chain that had already been prior agreed. They were trying to sell a house that was already part of a chain, awful and unprofessional!NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

I was a first time buyer and bought a house through Bairstow Eves Walsall and they were fantastic. Although the vendor was their customer, they treated me just as well. They kept me updated throughout and never failed to return a call or email. Complements to the whole team but in particular to Della, Gracie, Naomi and Stacey who i spoke to the most. Stacey greeted me when i collected the keys and she couldnt have been nicer. She was as enthuastic, friendly and as excited as me!!

EDIT.. Fast forward 6 years, and I came straight back to Bairstow to sell my property. I can only back up what I said back then! The most helpful team of people you could wish to meet. Always only a phone call, text or email away to help with anything - even giving the solicitors a kick up the arse! I would recommend them to anybody. If you need a Mortgage Advisor, get booked in with Sarah. We laughed and cried together and she constantly updated me with everything. No question was ever too stupid to ask! I literally can't praise these guys enough. As anybody can imagine, being a first time buyer is terrifying. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Between Marianne, Liz and Stacey, I couldn't have asked for more helpful, genuine, down to earth people. Every time I walk into the office, it was like being at home and always ALWAYS greeted with a smile. I'd recommend Bairstow to anybody, especially first time buyers. From requesting the viewing, through sorting my mortgage, insurance and general help and advice, these guys always find time to make a phone call for you or just answering general queries, no matter how stupid the question. Think I'm actually going to miss the place once everything is finalised!!

Absolutely excellent service!

Absolutely excellent service from John and Wayne at the Archway branch of Bairstow Eves. They did so much to keep our sale on track when it nearly fell through on a number of occasions. They were quick to respond to us, communicating frequently over WhatsApp, email and phone. They worked incredibly hard, are reliable and trustworthy. There were several occasions where they went out of their way to get keys or pick up a signed legal document. I would not hesitate to recommend them. Thank you!

Hi if i could give 10 stars I would.I actually deal with the Purley branch and have found the staff to be very helpful and professional.Luke the Manager is there at the other end of the phone to help with any problems that arise.Then there is Sophie who goes beyond the limitations I would expect. She is always very positive and vibrant and really does keep our spirits up. She does most of our viewings and even helps with the dogs if we are not able to be there.She was involved as Luke was with a past sale and we have total confidence in her.The new lady Camilla is a pleasure to deal with. She is quietly confident with a can do attitude.All in all a great team to do business with.

I would recommend them but would advice to select your own conveyancer privately.

I have just used this agent for my first property purchased in Folkestone. The transaction took 6 months to finish. Claire the branch manager is very helpful and cooperative and she was very proactive and motivate to finish this purchase. I am happy with their branch service but conveyancers experience was nightmare. But unfortunately the conveyancyer they have on their panel please stay away from them specially conveyancing expert awful service and poor communication and response. They dragged and kept the transaction pending until two days before my mortgage offer expires. My overall experience with bairstoweves was good. But I would strongly advice not to go with countrywide recommendation conveyancers. I would recommend to do your own research before appointing a conveyancer for your purchase otherwise it will turn into nightmare. Its better to have your own private conveyancer outside and not recommended by an agent as they do get commision from them but then buyer and sellers suffers due to poor service. And be watchfull about what has been agreed fee for the whole transaction by the conveyancer at the start. My conveyancing bill was exceeded and I was charged almost doube then what I was quoted at start and it was big blow and shock. You had to pay and can not afford to pull out at this time after 6months waiting when you have nowhere to go.

AVOID BAIRSTOW EVES AT ALL COSTS!!!We have had the most terrible experience with Bairstow Eves, both buying & selling. They have needed chasing for even the most basic of tasks to be done. From the for sale board to the EPC, nothing has been straight forward. We were called weeks after our offer had been accepted,to find out how our property search was going. 🤷‍♂️ We were just stuck for words at their incompetence. Now, to cap it all the house we had an offer accepted on has been sold without them contacting us to raise our offer or check on our position. Amateurish is an understatement for these clowns. Treat them like the plague & stay away.

I can not thank the staff at Bairstow Eve's in Biggin Hill, in particular Caroline Price. Very professional and diligent, Caroline went the extra mile occasion after occasion. Always there to explain and keep me informed which was just what I needed when everything got a bit complicated and stressful. I have her to thank as she held my hand throughout the whole process and I would have faired far worse if it wasn't for her knowing her job and simply caring. She was instrumental in keeping the whole chain together as she ended up communicating with everyone throughout the whole chain (from top to bottom) from estate agents, conveyancing solicitors and individuals in the buying/selling chain, due to part of the chain being a private sale. If I ever look to move again, I know exactly who to turn to. Thank you, I can not recommend or sing your praises highly enough for all you have done.

Very unprofessional Walsall Branch.

Bairstow Eves Walsall branch have handled my tenancy in the most unprofessional manner, using coercion and misrepresentation to obtain initial fees, not fixing the property, lying about repairs and making threats to us personally. It's been traumatic and shocking, and not what you would expect from a large organisation. We have kept all communication and are going to make a formal complaint through the Property Ombudsman, but even this is proving difficult to do due to their process... Attempting to complain to the branch proved fruitless as they started covering up for each other and refused to provide an address or contact for the District or Regional Manager. In particular, the manager Kiran was very inappropriate with threats and demands and we have copies of all this in writing. I would never recommend using this estate agent as a landlord, a tenant, or whether you are looking to buy or sell a property. When you go into the branch customers details are clearly visible on whiteboards around the office for their sales targets. They speak to you as though you a buying a secondhand car and don't have a clue. It's very sad to see companies like this still on our High Street in 2019, when their customer service is so shockingly poor.

Beware of using this agency - they're sneaky and will con you.

Beware of using this agency. Completely untrustworthy. We had a multi-agency agreement with this agency and had agreed the same commission rate as with the other two agencies. In person, they agreed to the same commission rate and then surreptitiously increased it in the contract. It's only at the end of the entire venture - which is long and dragged out in itself, given I had to coordinate the agent and give daily instructions to follow up with the buyer, you're faced with a surprise sum in the final invoice. Do not recommend!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Bairstoweves is an absolute and utter disappointment to say the very least. We are students, looking for housing and now we do not have a place to live and will likely not find anywhere due to us cancelling many other viewings thinking we had a house. They pressured us for money to secure the property which they are not returning to us immediately despite initially giving the property to us. They then proceeded to tell us an hour after signing an agreement that they had already given it away. Definitely do not recommend for students especially.

I wished i had looked on here before i used them to sell my flat. Avoid at all costs. There is a a number of lies that were told by the staff1). they told me they only offer a fixed fee, but then told my neighbour a few weeks later that they offer a percentage. Even when i asked for an explanation of this I never got a response. How can you expect someone to make an informed choice if you withhold information.2) I was told the purchaser was in a position to move quickly. I was informed by the staff that she purchaser had applied for her mortgage, then i was told they had problems with the computer system (for 3 weeks), then the rates had changed and they were arguing with the bank trying to get her the initial rates. This is complete nonsense as the rates are what they are and if you don't get the rate you want then you go else where. All in all the purchaser took 9 weeks to apply for a mortgage and when I had asked them to put the property back on the market they did not. Unfortunately as I had moved to another part of the country, i could not easily go back. Even the after sales lady for the estate agent for the property i was buying stated that Bairstow Eves did not know what they were doing, and what they were saying did not make sense. 3) I was told to pay for this package and you would get money back, which never happened. Then when i questioned this you only get it back if you use the country wide conveyancers However, this was not explained at the time, again withholding information. On top of that they charge you for pictures. They would not listen regarding the price i wanted the property to be listed at making an excuse it would get lost in the search. That is utter rubbish as i had paid for premium listing, and you can filter the results. They listed parts of the property wrong, and even though i contacted them it was never fully fixed. They are the reason estate agents are hated, and if i found my dream property and it was listed with bairstow eves i would leave it.

Oh, where do I even begin with this glorious letting agency? If you're looking for a masterclass in ignoring customers, avoiding responsibility, and achieving absolutely nothing, then look no further! These guys are true professionals, professionals at not responding to emails, never answering phone calls, and generally doing less than the bare minimum. In fact, I think they’ve elevated “doing nothing” to an art form.Need something fixed? Good luck with that! Expecting a response to your tenth email or phone call? How adorable of you to think that would happen. They’ll take your money with the kind of enthusiasm you wish they showed for literally anything else, then proceed to vanish like Houdini.Recommending this agency? Only if you enjoy watching a slow-motion disaster unfold in real-time. If “complete incompetence” is your vibe, then these guys are your perfect match. Stay away, unless you want the full experience of banging your head against a wall while screaming into the void. Absolute shambles. Even one star is far too much for the customer service, or rather lack of it, they 'provide'. This is a joke! Stay away from this agency if you can. Even the complaint team (nicely called customer care team... lol) don't get the grip of what they are for.

We had a really good experience with Bairstow Eves. From initial valuation with Kate all the way through to completion of the sale with Stacy and her team, everyone was friendly, helpful, professional and knowledgable. From not having any luck with other estate agents, Bairstow Eves sold our property within three weeks and we would recommend them to anyone (in fact we have done and they sold the property even quicker). We will certainly use them again in the future, should we need to. We can also recommend Marianne's services as a mortgage advisor. She has gone through and found us the best mortgage for our circumstances and has sorted all the paperwork. All in all they all make a great team.
