Please do yourself a favor and avoid this agency. I relocated from Liverpool a week ago, expecting the property to be habitable. Unfortunately, I encountered a series of major defects, including no proper heating, plumbing issues, and serious cleanliness problems, the driveway was full of moss and mold. Additionally, there were rats in the garden, an issue previously reported by neighbors and past tenants but never addressed. Relocating is already stressful, but dealing with these unresolved problems, especially after being misinformed about the rat infestation, made it even worse. I was told there were no rats, yet they were still present in the garden. The agents are polite when speaking, but despite my repeated calls and reports since day one, they have taken no action to resolve these serious issues.

Absolutely terrible experience with this letting agent. After the landlord withdrew an agreed offer, we were left out of pocket and still have not had our deposit returned. Communication has been poor throughout, with constant delays and little accountability. We felt completely unsupported and ignored when trying to resolve the issue fairly. I would strongly advise others to be very cautious before dealing with this agency. They tried to make us send them thousands of pounds with no contract given then last minute withdrew the offer and are refusing to give the deposit back. Absolutely dreadful agency.

Joanna was efficient and communicative making the whole process less stressful than it could have been. Robert was very polite and informative and clearly explained each process. A professional service, I would highly recommend them.

Absolutely excellent from start to finish of the house sale - one local agent kept phoning to see if we 'had come to a decision to market the property' which lost them any business, whereas GH did the visit to see the place and then said they'd leave us alone and it was up to us to give it the go-ahead or not. No pestering - excellent. Once we gave them the thumbs-up we had a string of viewers within days, and eventually exceeded the guide price by a small margin which suggests the guide price was accurate too. The staff at Gascoigne Halman were always on hand and worked brilliantly, especially Georgia who made sure everyone was kept in touch with any and all news and developments as things progressed, resulting in a sale a fortnight before Christmas which was exactly what buyers and sellers wanted. I would heartily recommend this outift.

My sale took a lot longer than expected and even though I was the buyer and not necessarily there client Gascoigne Halman were faultless especially Steph who I can’t praise enough she really did get the sale over the line. GoogleReally helpful staff Katie and lily, emailed me back helping my mum sort out her new rental, opened up early for me to pick up the keys, really helpful, I have taken off a star as I was told it would be cleaned before hand and the bathroom and kitchen was filthy not too sure who’s fault that was, but other than that all was great thanks

I had a very disappointing experience with Gascoigne Halman, particularly in how they handle tenant concerns versus landlord interests. From the very beginning of the tenancy, we raised multiple issues regarding lack of proper hot water and an inadequate boiler system. We repeatedly contacted the agency, explaining that the hot water was not functioning properly and that the system required constant manual adjustment just to get basic hot water. This not only caused inconvenience for a family with children but also significantly increased our electricity costs due to repeated heating cycles. Despite clear communication and follow-ups, no effective action was taken to resolve the issue. Now, at the end of the tenancy, instead of fairly assessing the situation, the agency has aligned entirely with the landlord and is attempting to make unreasonable deductions from our deposit, including claims that are not properly supported with evidence. It is particularly concerning that: • Longstanding maintenance issues (including hot water problems) were not addressed • Property condition issues such as damp were ignored during tenancy • Yet, at check-out, these are being indirectly used against the tenant This gives a clear impression that the agency prioritises landlords’ interests while failing to fairly represent or support tenants, even when legitimate concerns are raised during the tenancy. I would strongly advise prospective tenants to: • Document everything • Follow up in writing • Be cautious when dealing with deposit deductions Unfortunately, this experience has shown a lack of balance, accountability, and fairness in how tenant matters are handled.

GoogleWe couldn't have wished for a better buying experience. This was our first time and we honestly didn't know what we were doing. Jo guided us through with care and compasion, treating us like humans and not just another transaction. Throughout the entire buying process and after many viewings with various agencies Jo stood out as the dream partner in the process. Thank you Jo! She advised us along the way, set reasonable expectations as we went and even referred contractors for things like moving, electrics and solicitors. While we mainly dealt with Jo, everyone in the team that we spoke to was also really nice and helpful, with anything that we needed. Well done team, we are some very happy customers.

unresponsive landlord took months to fix a shower and a cooker. throughout the winter months we had no heating and it took until February for the landlord to fix. they're trying to charge me £80 to defrost a freezer and £300 for plastering despite no damage (with photo evidence) being done. my landlord was beckhall properties whom have multiple properties listed with gascoigne Halman. if you Google this landlord you will see an MEN arricle...

GoogleI selected Gascoigne Halman, Altrincham as they had been the estate agent that had sold my previous house a number of years previously under a very difficult climate. In the current sale, my sales negotiator was Joanne Diggines who very calmly and professionally managed the sales process. A number of issues came up with the property that needed to be addressed and Jo managed very effectively the communication between the buyer and myself throughout the whole process culminating in a successful sale. I would highly recommend Gascoigne Halman, Altrincham if you are considering selling your property!

Kate dealt with everything thrown at her with compassion, professionalism and a good dose of humour - she was also tenacious at keeping the various wheels turning, flexible and always prompt to respond. After completing our tenancy with Gascoigne halman. Despite leaving the property in what we believed to be a clean and acceptable condition. We received a £550 deposit claim, including charges for cleaning (£250), decoration and painting (£150), and a radiator leak (£115). I have rented this apartment for 1 year.When we first moved into the property, it was in poor condition and had a noticeable odour. We raised this with the agency several times, but no action was taken.

The purchase of our new house was not straightforward but we always felt that the team at Gascoigne Halman were doing their best to move things forward despite the delays being outside of their control. The communication was very good and we felt as though we were working together to get the transactions over the line. The team were friendly and professional throughout.

GoogleAs a Landlord, I recently needed to rent out a property in Altrincham. I chose to use Gascoigne Halman and Chris and Katie were excellent. (Gascoigne Halman fees were very competitive too!). I found Chris to be very knowledgeable regarding advice on letting and advertising and I found Katie to be very efficient and helpful in finding suitable tenants for the property. Together, they are a very good professional team, always keepng me informed throughout in a timely manner, and finding me a very suitable tenant.

As per all the other negative reviews - terrible communication - poorly written emails, unprofessional in manner and just awful to deal with. From moving into property, water pressure issues and constant cold showers. After months of back and forth was told (by a manager) 'oh well you are on a rolling contract, so you can just find another property' as appose to just having the issue fixed? Turns out it was a pump needed for the boiler, and of course the landlord did not want to pay as it was 'expensive'. It wasn't. Paying over a grand a month for no hot showers and terrible management is expensive. Clearly they prioritise landlords and not tenants. We left as suggested and do not recommend for renting at all - save your self the stress and sour puss faces.

After 3 aborted sales with Purple Bricks which consumed 14 stressful months due to lack of support, wrong price, no vetting of purchasers, etc., etc. I decided to use Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield to sell our house. Within 1 week Matthew Clark and his team had vetted a new purchaser who was right for our property, truly had the funds, and was highly likely to follow through to completion (which they did).I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman enough for their proactive advice and follow-up, aiding the purchaser and keeping me informed. I found them friendly and easy to communicate with. No waiting for someone to answer the phone for inquiries and prompt replies on email. When the exchange of contacts and completion time came, they helped pressure crucial solicitor communication so that we met the target dates keeping me (the seller) and the purchaser happy. I can't recommend Gascoigne Halman in Macclesfield enough. Thanks, folks, you deserve the credit, and will be using you again for another property sale.
