Trustworthy always do a good job.
I have been using Allen n Harris for a number of years now, I've been a landlord for 25+ years and in the past used different agents, of which haven't been the best.

Where do I start
Where do I start? What an unprofessional shower the westbury office are! It started with them booking the wrong photographer for listing the property (wrong camera so we had to go through 2 photography sessions). Branch and assistant managers turning up late for viewings. Turned branch manager away as he turned up half way through me showing a purchaser the house, so I thought no point in him being there half way through. Potential buyers not vetted properly or checks in place to make sure they already had a mortgage in principle from a lender. I’m sure they just let anyone with a pulse view the property. Last insult was 2 offers received and not one was negotiated to nearer the property asking price. Why appoint a “negotiator” if they can’t negotiate. Total waste of time appointing this company in my view!

Probably the only part of moving that performed as advertised. At every stage the Highworth / Ermin Street teams were helpful, knowledgeable and supportive. The whole team throughout the frustrating process went beyond to assist. Very professional but friendly. Our five star rating applies to Jemma, Chris, Molly, Andy, Mat, Claire and Ashley. A long difficult road but thanks to all along the way.

sold my house through allen and harris, dont
sold my house through allen and harris. intial estimate was higher than anyone else's, it should have rung alarm bells. I went with them but after two months no offers so had to drastically reduce the price. Once the sale was agreed they only seemed interested in the buyer. Had a weeks notice to move out as they were bending over backwards for the buyer. All in all a very miserable experience that left me feelinh ripped off and used

Gutted I have to even leave a 1 star a a review. I recently viewed a property, the salesman had very little knowledge about the property. However I did proceed to call and put an offer in as soon as we left, I was met by difficult and belligerent staff who refused to take my offer and insisted the only way to place an offer was with the branch manager. Obviously at the point of which I called she was not available, my husband called an hour and a half after me and still no call back or availability, I finally heard back on Monday afternoon. The call was rude and curt my offer was sniggered at, the response being well I suppose I’ll put it forward. I then found out on social media I was not successful with my offer. I am yet to have any communication, having been looking for a while, and the market the way it is I can honestly say I will NOT view anything else with Allen & Harris, and will continue to share my utterly diabolical service with friends and family. This experience was with the Swindon branch

Booked a viewing for a property we were interested in buying which was promptly canceled without a call to explain why, but my wife and I have had multiple calls every day for two weeks pestering us to sell with them. Bordering on harassment if I'm honest. I've asked them to remove our contact details from their database, but the calls continue. Contact Rettie instead, they're good people. These guys appear to be so desperate for business, quite the red flag

Poor Communication Skills
Very very disappointed with Allen & Harris Westbury. Extremely poor communication skills whilst selling your property! You have to repeatedly ask for updates. They allow long lapses with communication with yourself and the buyer of your property which results in endless unnecessary delays. We honestly feel they concentrate on obtaining new business but once you’ve signed their contracts they do not have sufficient staff to even manpower their local offices.Sadly I wouldn’t recommend this local office as it’s been completely frustrating to work with the team. However, the sales person who originally came out to value our property was indeed courteous and professional and I’m afraid it ended right there. We paid over £5,000 in fees where as our solicitors did most of the sales coordination work. Allen & Harris didn’t even give us a courtesy call to let us know that we had finally completed and we’re about to release the keys.

7 months
7 months. 7 months we have been in a chain with a property being marketed by Allen and Harris. Twice they have failed to complete due diligence on buyers. Twice their in-house mortgage broker has lied about mortgage offers for buyers when underwriters have turned them down. I wish I had known that their business practices were so appalling I would have rejected an offer on the basis that they were representatives of someone in the chain.

Westbury Office
When I first spoke to them I raised concerns about the price of a property I liked which was "offers in excess of £300k". I explained that this was my maximum budget (this would be for a property that hardly needed a thing done to it) & there was no extra for any potential works. I said that I didn't want to make a 5 hour round trip if I was wasting my time. I was assured that I should definitely look at it as I wasn't so went along feeling very positive. I then had a viewing & was shown around by Charlie. I subsequently put an offer in which took into account works that needed doing. Unfortunately, my experience with the office left a lot to be desired. They failed to return my calls or keep me informed of what was happening, then told me the offer wasn't enough even though they'd known my budget & that the house needed work. It's a shame they couldn't have been honest when I'd had the initial conversation about my concerns instead of wasting my time & misleading me. Charlie who did the viewing was very good but aside from him the other members of staff I dealt with were misleading & their client care was poor.

Desperately trying to rent a property
Desperately trying to rent a property, took our holding fee (1 weeks rent) then demanded paperwork unspecified at the initial viewing a week earlier , on trying to collect this for them was waiting for a letter to arrive from HMRC , informed them of this and then had them turn around and decline our rental of the property despite us paying a weeks rent in advance which should have covered the period where we were gathering the correct paperwork. Was told “the landlord cannot wait even a day otherwise he won’t be able to pay his mortgages” and that our deposit was non refundable. So they took our money, and left us out in the cold. At every turn in the week leading up to renting the property there was more issues including online paperwork/referencing accounts not working, they lied and said they were trying to ring my fellow housemate (no missed calls recorded) and that due to this incompleted paperwork that we were the ones at fault despite not mentioning any of this at the viewing. We weren’t the first and we won’t be the last. The rental situation is disgusting in this country, your paying for someone to put a custom number plate on their Range Rover while you slave away at an hourly rate job to live in damp and broken accommodation, they take multiple mortgages out and then depend on the yield from others to pay them whilst they do nothing more than the absolute bare minimum to “maintain” properties. Since the agency fees are now gone I can only assume taking a percentage of our first weeks rent holding fee is how the agents get their commission. Add to that the highest rents have ever been since 2008, and an over-saturation of student housing in major cities the situation for young working professionals is unbearable. To then be told nearly thee hundred pounds of your hard earned money is gone in a flash with smoke and mirrors is simply shattering, unfortunately I’m not alone in this.

Scammers and illegal handling!
I would honestly give 0 stars if it was an option. Incredibly unprofessional estate agents. Avoid at all costs, very rude staff, terrible lack of communication, sketchy, and greedy! They Pressure you into using their services, and if you don’t they will deliberately mess you and tell you your offer is not good enough…even tho it is, it was very frustrating to deal with these people. They are messing with peoples lives here, I feel like they’re all scammers and doing something incredibly illegalSarah was completely rude and messed us around. She is completely unprofessional. This estate agents should be shut down. Please avoid at all costs, they only care about commission, they do not have anyone else’s best interests.

I have bought and sold quite a few houses in my time and I have to take time out to record what a brilliant service I have had as a seller, from Andrew Clark primarily, but from his team, when appropriate, too. It is not often that an estate agent works well, does precisely what he/she says they are going to do, knows their territory absolutely, is a thorough professional and, most importantly, clearly acts in the seller's interest as the primary custom. Andrew Clark acted for me demonstrating all these attributes more than once. I would thoroughly recomend working with the Allan & Harris Highworth Office.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

All members of Highworth office were very helpful, but we had a pleasure of mainly dealing with Jemma and Andy. After a bad experience with a different Estate agent, we decided to go ahead with Allen and Harris. Super pleased with our decision, our property sold within 4 weeks of being on the market for nearly the asking price. Jemma and Andy are still in touch to see how we are getting on with our searches and willing to help further. Couldn’t recommend them enough!PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

I would tell anyone to avoid Allen & Harris like the plague. I commissioned the Swindon team to sell my house based on a high valuation which they promptly told me to reduce almost straight away. They barely got me any viewings and no offers in the whole five months I was on the market with them. They were not marketing it to the right people (corroborated by the fact that as soon as I switched estate agent it was sold in the first weekend) and I would always have to chase them for any feedback on the few viewings they did book. Also watch out for the small print…you are tied into a five month initial period. It felt like selling my house meant nothing to them and because they were in a flat rate they just kept telling me to reduce the price without putting appropriate effort in to selling it. Not good.

Outstanding services
I highly recommend AK for his services. A friend of mine recommended me to him after I was declined a mortgage from another broker (despite that broker telling me I was guaranteed a mortgage). My circumstances are complex, yet he managed to secure me a mortgage with 3 days, including working over the weekend and during his holiday. From the start he assured me that he could help and if any issues my fee would be refunded. He is efficient, reassuring, experienced, professional and has saved me considerable stress. I’m so delighted that I was introduced to him and now extremely excited about moving.

Renting a property from them initially was fine, but they do not answer emails without standard script, they constantly badger you on email when you’ve already paid rent. They don’t answer queries always on the side of the landlord.

The staff are really personable, nothing is too much for them. Jade is a lovely young woman, she really took onboard what we wanted in a property and our budget.

Not value for money, shop around
Clifton, Bristol Branch - Sold themselves as a premium offering but their outputs (pictures, write ups, viewings) were below average. In Covid, you would have thought you'd show prospective buyers of a First Floor Flat the 3.5 acres of gardens that are included. Apparently not. I changed agent but they refused to take the property off line and continued to market it after the contractual period was up.I could write many more things. My advise, shop around for a better estate agent.

Told I was not allowed to view a property until I had signed up for their mortgage service. Managed to work my way around this and view the property. Put an offer in, which was accepted. They then put the property back on the rental market. Ok fine, but they did not inform me of this and continued to pressure me into using their services. All they are interested in is your money. 0/5.

Andy at Allen and Harris Cirencester helped me with the sale of my 1 bed maisonette. Ultimately I decided against the sale as my circumstances changed, but I found Andy straightforward, knowledgeable and helpful.
