Rarely pick up the phone, understaffed and have non-serious & unprofessional staff sitting in the office. Looked at a flat which wasn’t available to view immediately and just as the weekend passed the flat was booked without a viewing. They don’t even update their website or 3rd party sites when flats/houses/apartments get let which wasted a lot of our time. Deeply frustrating to deal with them.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. Unfortunately the property you wanted to view had been viewed prior to you wanting to view it and then they subsequently decided to pay the initial payment to start the Contract process. It`s a very busy time of year so properties do go quickly and once the application is fully complete and the Contract has been signed, which can take a few weeks, the system automatically removes the property from our feed to all the portals. If you are still looking for accommodation then please don`t give up just yet

Shocking way they treat a young girl renting from them, had an issue with mice and rats had to call out environmentalhealth at a cost of £240, wont reimburse her as she called them out the weekend and didnt have authorisation from them. Do not rent from these as they do not care about their tennants. I have put ine star as i cant do none

Jayne · 25 July 2024

Agent replied · 24 August 2024

Hi Jayne, so sorry to hear this. Unfortunately if there is food and refuse left in or around the property then it will attract rodents no matter where you live in the UK. An out of hours "emergency" call out by the local Council will always cost a lot, there is nothing we can do about that. However, for future reference the Council in Swansea will call out for free during office hours if there is a rat problem.

Studentdigz and in particular Emily, have been a pleasure to deal with. We are International Clients booking a Flat for our Child to attend Law School at the University of Swansea. They have been patient and responsive to our (many) requests. Thanks again and we look forward to meeting you when we are in Swansea.

StudentDigz has been really great helping me find a flat pretty last minute. They were easy to get in contact with and I was offered viewings for the day of enquiry or the day after. Leah, who showed me the flats, was really patient and knowledgeable and seemed genuinely interested in helping me find the best flat for me. Overall I’ve had a great experience.

Avoid this company at all costs. They are unhelpful, predatory, and illegally entered our home without notice or approval using another set of keys. The property was filthy upon move-in, and they refused to clean it. We left the place spotless, yet they attempted to charge us. Landlords, beware of their fabricated maintenance costs. They have become unresponsive to emails and phone calls. We are students and have no reason to be untruthful. If most of the reviews for a company are negative, they're probably worth believing. Their response to this review will be full of lies. Don't waste your time with this company. update 02/08/23 1-this letting agency still seems to believe that sending an email to the tenant permits them to grant anybody unrestricted access to a tenant’s home. They have to wait for our approval. avoid studentdigz if you do not want workmen breaking into your home. please stay safe. 2-i’ve added a picture of our waste on the last day of our tenancy, 3 days before the next collection was due. swansea council would be more than happy to collect those bags if they were readied on the day of collection. studentdigz did not visit the property until 2 weeks later. they should have done their job properly and inspected within 1-2 days. now they are trying to charge £150 for removal. avoid them.

Saad · 25 August 2023

Agent replied · 20 June 2024

Hello Saad, thank you for leaving a review. The evidence we have from our inspection visit and the photo`s taken after you moved out clearly show you did not clean properly and you left more bin bags in the garden than would be collected by the Council. All this is your repsonsibility, not ours or the Landlords. The property also smelt very strongly of spices from cooking as you did not attempt to clean the oven and the fridge was left dirty, neither of which are our doing. The bathroom shower screen was full of limescale/dirt, as were the taps, plus there are damages which are not fair wear and tear. Therefor there are issues which need to be addressed before we can move the next tenants in and you as a group need to take responsibility and cover the cost to rectify these issues. Please submit your evidence to The DPS for ajudication and we will do the same.

My time with Student Digz has been incredibly disappointing. Despite assurances, they have failed to return my deposit, showing a lack of responsibility and care towards their clients. Their conduct has been unacceptable, and I strongly advise others to steer clear of this agency to avoid similar issues.

One of the worst agencies I've ever seen. In November 2022, when I asked for early end of tenancy they agreed with me paying them an extra 3 months rents, promised that once they find new tenant they will refund me the rest of the rents as well as the deposits. However, up till now they have never contacted me for either the result of finding new tenant or the refund of my deposits. When I sent email asking about this, they ignored me and never replied. Whereas in the meantime, my another previous agency in Scotland has contacted me to refund me the extra fees I accidentally made, which once again reminds me of how low studentdigz's credits can be. If you're a student especially an international student, never rent your accommodation with this untrustworthy company. They can be a total bully to you.

Pearl · 21 June 2023

Agent replied · 20 June 2024

Hi Pearl, as far as I can see you are not one of our tenants, I have checked the system and we do not have anyone registered under the name Pearl Jad. However, If you were one of our tenants and had signed an AST you would be in a 12 month fixed term agreement. This is because we are a student lettings business and so our tenancies are tied to the student academic year. Therefor when you signed the tenancy agreement you would have read and understood that you will have made a 12 month commitment to rent a room or a property. A tenant leaving part way through the academic year invariably leaves the property owner with an empty room or property for the remainder of the academic year, when they may be relying on the rent to pay their own outgoings (mortgage, insurances, taxes, repairs etc). As the Agent if one of our tenants asks to leave part way through a tenancy we always try to work with the tenant and the landlord to find a mutual solution, but on most occasions the easiest way is for the tenant to find a replacement tenant to take over the remainder of the tenancy. As you can imagine we don`t have a lot of tenants looking for student accommodation through November, December as the vast majority of students have already found a property and have started University by then, so we would never commit to releasing a tenant and say we will find a replacement as we know there may not be many students looking at that time of year. We will try to help find a replacement, but ultimately it would be the tenants responsibility not ours. It`s for this reason if you had been one our tenants you will not have had any sort of assurance that we would find a replacement due to the time of year, however we would tried to help if a suitable tenant had made an enquiry with us. We have been doing this for 23 years in Swansea so we know when the peaks and troughs of the year occur. On another point raised in your review, if the Agency in Scotland had refunded the payments you had "accidentally made" that is of course the correct thing to do. Paying rent for a 12 month fixed term tenancy which you have signed and committed to does not qualify as accidental payments, so we would not have agreed to refund this unless a mutual agreement had been reached between the tenant and the landlord. If you still believe you were one of our tenants then you are welcome to give us the name we would have you registered on our system, but at present we do not have anyone called Pearl Jad who has ever rented from us. There is another Agency with a very similar name in Swansea who we often get mistaken for, so please check and review the correct Agency if this is what has happened. Thank you.

Called up to try to arrange a later move out date as I am moving to Cardiff and my tenancy dates clash. I was abruptly told that our move out date was inflexible before I had even been asked which property I was living in. I later discover that my housemates had spoken to someone else and organised a later move out date like I had hoped to do. Incredibly inconsistent, rude, and unprofessional. No regard for their customers.NegativeQuality, Professionalism

The worst company I have ever dealt with, extremely unprofessional, occasionally rude in emails, if they ever respond that is. Tried to scam us into paying for bills that were included in the rent, scammed one tenant into paying for council tax, and tried to scam us out of out deposit. *Edit* Just as a response to the below, I will not be revealing my personal details regarding this. However, I can assure anyone reading this that StudentDigz is absolutely the company I am talking about, and absolutely the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

Gerat · 21 June 2022

Agent replied · 20 June 2024

Hi Gerat, can you confirm which property you lived in as you are not registered on our system. You may have the wrong Agency. We regularly get negative reviews for a company with a similar name based in Swansea. We even get keys dropped off to our office from tenants who think they have been renting from us when they haven`t. Please let me know the address and I will be able to check as your name isn`t registered with us.

Lovely phone manner. However, they are extremely unresponsive on emails. You have reassurance via the phone they are going to resolve issues and send information, then never/rarely followed up (called 20 about times over the last 2 months). We requested our deposit almost 2 months ago, feels painful to get a deposit run down from them, knowing full well the landlord has sent it over to the agent. Still waiting for the run down and information to be sent to dps. No allowed communication between the tenants and landlord, which is concerning to know the landlord may believe its us delaying any payments to her from the deposit as well.

Lucy · 21 June 2022

Agent replied · 20 June 2024

Hi Lucy, I`m really sorry to hear the problems you are having. The deposit return via The DPS can be a slow procedure, as once there is a dispute raised we have to produce and submit a pile of evidence so the adjudicator can assess and make a decision. The fact we are processing a few hundred properties at the same time due to all the Students moving out does sometimes drag the process out a little, but rest assured it is being dealt with as quick as we are able to. Properties with no disputes go through a lot quicker.

Joke of a company. Moved into the house and it was a state, layers of grime around the house, chewing gum stuck to one of the cupboards, broken furniture, oven and fridge were dirty. Complaints were by in large ignored. During our tenacity had issues with the door to the point where it physically wouldn't open and due to no gate key the only way to leave the house was by climbing over the back gate. Took student digz weeks to sort this out. Other issues throughout our year with student digz but the final straw was when we moved out. Messaged to book an inspection as part of the leaving procedure but was ignored till weeks after we had moved out. When we finally got a reply they said they had done the inspection with no of us present and was charging us for the oven, cupboards and fridge to be professionally cleaned- all of which had been bleached and scrubbed before we left. Told we could come and clean but if our cleaning wasn't to their standard we would still be charged- though we attempted to book to do so the communication was poor throughout from their side and we gave up taking the charges just to avoid them making up further charges to take from our deposits. Likewise very doubtful this money would actually be used to get the house clean considering the state we moved into. Very poor company and would highly recommend you avoid at all costs unless you want poor communication throughout your tennancy and then made up charges as your leaving gift.

Upon moving to the house, the boiler was not functional and we were left without heating and hot water for a month and a half, their service is slow and poor, one room has had mould complaints for 2 months which has still not been dealt with and is now getting over personal items. However they can send an electrician in a day to setup the smart meter.

Matt · 21 June 2023

Agent replied · 20 June 2024

Hi Matt. Thank you for bringing the matter to my attention. I have spoken to the relevant staff member who oversees the repairs and he has asked me to apologise for the delay which happened with regards to the mould issue. He said when the gas engineer fixed the heating issue just after you moved in back in September he thought the other issues would resolve themselves as the heating was then operating correctly. The latest update I have received is that he has been in contact with you again and the mould matter is now being dealt with. Please accept our apologies, the follow up process should have been monitored better once the heating had been fixed.

This company isn't fit to offer student safe and reliable housing, they broke the law many times by having work completed on the property without giving a 24 hour notice period, made worse by the fact that it was during the coronavirus pandemic, we sent them more than 30 emails regarding issues within the property, which they just ignored, until we were forced to get the environmental health department involved, 6 months later and they continously denied us sending them the information until I was able to show both the owner and the council the full receipts of each email. They are very nice and pleasant when signing the property but after they are unprofessional, also use manipulation with the contracts, as they don't make students set up a direct debits and they give joint loabilty, which means that some will be adversely affected in the event that one is unable or won't pay. Don't fall for paid reviews!!NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Liam · 25 August 2021

Agent replied · 20 June 2024

Hi Liam, I have had a look at your electronic log and can see you (the tenants in the house) were notified prior to all our visits by email, hence you replied to such notices given in both November & December asking us not to carry out any visits due to the household self isolating. This is why we cancelled the viewings and stopped all maintenance visits for a period of time. I have also taken a look at the repairs and maintenance log which shows 16 Contractor visits were made during your tenancy, all instigated by you reporting maintenance issues via the Fixflo system. One such repair being the fitting of new boiler in January once we were able to give the Engineer the heads up that it was safe to enter the property following your isolation periods in November and December. I wouldn`t normally reply with this amount of detail, but I feel your comments are a bit misleading and your accusation of paid reviews is completely wrong and quite damaging. If you would like to make an appointment to come into the office and go through the electronic log please let me know.

This is by far one of the worst accommodation/letting agency i have ever used. They lie to students and manipulate them just because unfortunately most of them don’t know any better. Very terrible agency with rude and unprofessional staff. Honestly if you do plan on renting with them, record every conversation you have and get someone else to read the contract as well before you sign. Surprised they’re still around after taking advantage of a lot of students.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Hi Debby, I can see you left the tenancy owing 2 months rent in April 2018. In your email reply dated 13/06/18 you asked for extra time to pay your arrears due to problems with the banking system in Lagos, Nigeria which I am sure have now been resolved. You have since ignored all our attempts to mediate and resolve the issue for you. I would much rather you email us and work with us to resolve the problem instead of leaving a review. I have sent you an email today in response to your review. If you reply I'm sure we can resolve the matter amicably. Kind regards, Studentdigz

I rented a property from student digz for my 2nd and 3rd year (2018-2020). The first year I spent with them was fine. I felt rushed to make a decision on if I'd be staying a second year being asked in both October of 2018 and November in 2018 not even 2 months after I moved in, with an almost threatening email of them being forced to let people look round the flat if we did not make a decision but apart from that the first year went smoothly. In the second year (starting 2020) due to the COVID pandemic communication and I fear professionalism broke down. Through no fault of their own initially myself and my former flatmate had a soured relationship. When I left in March and returned the keys at the beginning of the 1st national lockdown communication with the company broke down. Initially I was told I could end the tenancy early, then I couldn't. Then I could with 2 signatures of tenants. Then I couldn't unless I gave 2 months. Then I couldn’t because I hadn't lived in the property for a year even though I had. Then they refused to inspect the property when asked, then it was “when we’re available” which resulted in myself paying for damages that were incurred after I left the property. After that had all been settled I though I’d hear the end of it. Unfortunately in November 8 months after I left I received a bill from a utility company I did not set up for the period of time after I had cancelled the utilities, payed the fee and transferred any remaining utilities over to the remaining tenant as they had not returned their keys and were still living in that property. Since then I have called them and sent over documents they asked for. I have heard nothing back from them and am now being threatened with a court summons for unpaid bills at a property where there is evidence I forfeited my tenancy early and paid up the remainder of the agreement and any outstanding bills when I left the property. All in all, Studentdigz has been a pain to deal with, they are unsympathetic towards their tenants both current and past, and only care about filling rooms and getting their profit. My advice is to rent privately, I would much have preferred to give my landlords double the rent if it meant I didn’t have to endless stalling emails and email chains pitting flatmates against each other.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

We have used StudentDigz to let and fully manage our property for the past three years. They let us know of any problems with regards to maintenance and repairs quickly. If something comes up outside of the day to day running of the property they consult with us how to best proceed. Monthly statements are provided which give you a clear overview of money coming in and out of the account. They find good tenants that look after the property, behave responsibly and who, for the most part, pay on time. We have had a full house for the past three years and look forward to continuing to work with them to provide decent as well as affordable accommodation.

The staff at this branch are amazingly helpful and understanding and it's been my most positive experience of renting in Swansea so far. Any time I've had an issue, they've responded the next day and had it sorted as soon as possible. Their maintenance system works really well and they're really responsive on the phones. The team have been really understanding about me deciding not to renew my contract for next year (after initially saying I would back in November but since then I've had a change in circumstances) and I appreciate all of their consideration and giving me time in this situation.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value
