Very disappointing behaviour, Strongly advise avoiding Breckon & Breckon We have had an utterly exhausting and deeply disappointing experience with Breckon & Breckon lettings during our tenancy renewal for a property in New Hinksey. The agency demanded a rent increase of £150/month, insisting it reflected market value. Yet, their own "Best Price Guide" showed we were already paying above the local market average. Facing an artificially inflated demand, we had no choice but to serve notice to vacate, an unbelievably stressful and disruptive situation to be put through, especially with my wife being pregnant at the time. To our absolute shock, immediately after we gave notice, they re-listed the property publicly at £200/month lower than what they demanded from us, and £50/month less than our original rent. When we complained, staff initially admitted the mistake, telling us "we will of course look to rectify this". But in the end, they took zero accountability, brushing off the sudden price drop in their Final Viewpoint Letter as simple "market fluctuations" over a matter of weeks. Pushing out good, reliable tenants with misleading rent demands, only to drop the price for someone else the second we said we had to leave fells utterly rubbish (for both tenants and landlords alike). The lack of empathy and basic professionalism during an already vulnerable time for our family was appalling! We are taking this matter to The Property Ombudsman (TPO). I strongly recommend both prospective tenants and landlords to steer clear from Breckon & Breckon.

I have let in Oxford through Breckon and Beckon for several years now. Throughout this time I have been very satisfied indeed with the courteous and efficient way in which they have rendered both the letting and management process. It sems to me that all the staff concerned manage to balance the interests of landlords and tenants in a highly professional and fittingly balanced manner for both parties, explaining all options/ choices/decisions calmly and fully. Highly recommend to avoid such petty agencies who just want to extract as much money from customers as possible. No flexibility, understanding or accountability can be seen here. No responsiveness, the extractor fan, reported promptly, wasn’t fixed in 1 year! Even after leaving the property in exact same condition as was received they charged me, even for things that weren’t even present in the flat to begin with! They provide no service, are extremely rude once you sign the contract and will make moving out the worst experience of your life!

We have been to few viewing they had to offer, while deciding the time of viewing they were just pushing us to get the time they provided and at such short notice reaching there was a task, even after the viewing was done, we were told they we would be receiving an application to be filled out so that they could select the best potential tenants, again.. no application was sent to us. We viewed 3 properties with them till date and 2 have already been let, without even sending us any application. I have called them 4 times now, and all I hear is “ohh so sorry we will send it to you” and blah blah.. if you didn’t ever want to rent out the property why even force us to waste our time just for a 10 minute viewing!!! I would never recommend this to anyone. Pathetic.
