Our experience has been less than satisfactory. We felt pressured to accept a low offer and once our property was sold, it felt very much like the agent was working for our buyer and not us. Our sale and purchase has not been easy and whilst we appreciated the regular communication it often felt rude and accusatory. There was also unauthorised requests to both us and our purchasing agent to drop prices. It all felt very odd and I would not recommend Putterills.

I completed purchase of my new home in December 2023. The new home was through Putterils. Viewing and subsequent queries were dealt with promptly and respectfully by the team. Throughout the purchase I very much appreciated the contact and communication from Nigel, giving me updates on progress, what was outstanding and what I needed to do. My experience of Putterills is as a buyer. I have been extremely impressed with them from start to finish. I exchanged contracts today and hope to complete early next week. Nigel in particular has been excellent. At times I have been in despair because my solicitor hasn't always been great at keeping me up to date with what is happening (I am appreciative that as the stamp duty holiday ends they are very busy) but nevertheless your anxiety is high and when everything goes quiet, you are left in the dark. Nigel has been brilliant at staying in touch with me and letting me know as soon as something has moved on. He has been a massive help in lowering my stress levels slightly. We first enquired at Putterills Stevenage re. selling our home at the end of January ‘22 and were immediately impressed with the knowledge and passion shown by Duncan - there was no pressure, and discussions around valuation were comfortable, leading to us instructing Putterills early in February ‘22. We knew the market was competitive, but we did not expect to have 5 appointments scheduled within 2 hours of asking Duncan to sell our home, the first viewing within 24 hours, and negotiations re. sale price finalised within 26 hours of instruction. Our sale soon passed over to Nigel who was extremely helpful throughout - dealing with endless queries from ourselves and numerous disputes amongst solicitors whilst managing the line of communication between ourselves and our buyers seamlessly. Where there were queries or concerns, Nigel was always there to give his honest view and was proactive in chasing issues throughout. Nigel especially proved his worth in the final week where exchange of contracts was taking longer than expected - proactive and calming as ever! Having instructed in early February, we completed our sale in only 10 weeks which we were very happy with. We are really pleased with the excellent service we've received from Putterills. From listing our house through to completion everything has been dealt with very professionally. The viewing agents that showed prospective buyers around on the open weekend were lovely and very helpful, we went away and were happy to leave them to it. Once we accepted an offer Nigel Eveleigh was on it and pushed the sale through keeping us informed through the whole process dealing with various enquiries as they arose. Having not moved for twenty years we really appreciated this! The team at Putterills took the stress out of moving and we can't thank them enough. A totally outstanding team who provided a level of customer service far beyond my expectations. Moving house is a stressful cycle of emotions but the Putterills team helped to negate any concerns that we had. We were very pleased with the service Putterills provided! Our house did take a while to sell, and may have initially been valued at more than the market was willing to pay, but after reducing this the house gained lots of viewings during which Putterills staff were very professional. I had every faith leaving them in the property that it would be treated with respect and that they would sell it to the best of their ability. The after sales process was where I think Putterills came in to their own. Nigel was fantastic at keeping our chain together and moving, updating us weekly if not more frequently about what was happening, going above and beyond in many cases to find out information some solicitors should have been. Simply put, choose Putterills! When I purchased my house a few years ago we did so via Putterills Stevenage. The experience was seamless, informed and trouble free. Therefore, when we came to sell the property we had no doubts in choosing them again. Our property was in a chain of 6 houses, which gave us tremendous insight into the dynamics of house sales at its most complex level! We got to see first-hand the complexity of house buying and selling and it has brought us a new found admiration to the true talent and expertise Putterills have that makes this process a success. Our experience gave us sight of the dynamics of 6 different buyers, sellers, agents, solicitors, lenders and searches in one chain; and it certainly highlighted those that stood out to those that don’t. It was very clear we had chosen the best! To add further complication, not only did our chain have 6 houses, but we also had tight timescales. Therefore, we had to ensure that within 3mths all 6 properties were aligned to complete in time for school admission deadlines. Without doubt, the team at Putterills Stevenage were fundamental in us achieving this. Every member of the team played their part. Duncan Price, Branch Manager & Senior Valuer, Duncan was the first member of the team we met. He evaluated our house. From the offset he was personable and really listened to us with regards to speed of sale, best sale price and method of sale. Our house sales pack was professional, informative and gave good quality pictures to ensure our property was attractive to prospective buyers. Neena Odedra, Senior Sales & Negotiator and Elizabeth Tyrrell, Senior Sales & Valuer, These two (always friendly) team members were a pleasure. From organising viewings on our property to arranging viewings for us with other properties on their books. Bookings at our property were well managed. Appointments were agreed with us and we were well informed of who was viewing, when they were viewing and supporting information. This was also followed up with text reminders which was very useful. Nigel Eveleigh, Senior Sales Manager, Nigel. What can I say; he is amazing! Nigel is very factual and as the negotiations between various vendors, solicitors and agents unfolded I grew to admire him and appreciated that this part of the sale is where the real magic happens. It is a painstaking, relentless task to manage so many stakeholders. Keeping them informed, progressing multiple threads of the chain so that all parties are on time with the same completion goal. This is Nigel’s extraordinary skill and it is what got us through a very complicated long chain and allowed us to meet our deadline. In short, trust him, you will be in meticulous safe hands. He knows his stuff and has mastered the art of the delicate continuous engagement needed between agent, solicitors and stakeholders. This is a great team, with exceptional staff within every aspect of the process. The only sadness we felt was when we had to say goodbye to the team when the completion occurred. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with them.

We were recommended Putterils by family members who had a great experience with them, so our expectations were high I suppose. They got the job done, reluctantly, but at times were incredibly rude! As first time buyers we were new to this and requested to view the house a few times, as we wanted reassurance that we had made the right choice. During the completion process, the surveyor identified a couple of issues which we requested to be fixed during negotiatians with the seller. I felt this was reasonable and upon seeking advice, was re-assured it was a normal request. Initially Duncan handled our case, and was very polite, very helpful and a pleasure to work with. Later in the process another member of the team handled our sale. I was absolutely shocked at the way he treated us and the way he wrote to my fiancée and I. I felt he was incredibly unhelpful, and at times very rude during the exchange of emails. Even our solicitor commented that his behaviour was unacceptable. He made us feel incredibly uncomfortable during a process which should have been highly enjoyable and memorable for us as first time buyers. Whilst we expected hurdles during the process, we didn't expect to be treated in such a rude and discourteous manner by our own estate agents! During viewings they demonstrated complete disinterest and at times irritation at our request to check progress on the works that we had negotiated. This changed my view of Putterills as our poor experience now extended over more than one individual. In all, they got the job done. However my fiancée and I were made to feel disrespected and insignificant during the sales process. Whilst I mentioned it above already, the way our allocated sales member wrote to my fiancée and I was completely unacceptable, rude and disrespectful. I would not recommend Putterils in Stevenage based on the way that we were treated. This is a shame as Duncan put in very good ground work at the start, which unfortunately was tarnished by colleagues later on in the process.
